Who will win Record of the Year at the 2025 Grammys? This award goes to the artists, producers, and engineers of the year’s best single. That’s where this differs from Song of the Year, which goes specifically to songwriters. Though this award is not technically a popularity contest, commercial success is typically a major factor, like Miley Cyrus‘s reigning champion “Flowers,” a blockbuster that spent several weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100. So will the next winner be a big hit as well? Scroll down to see our official racetrack odds, which are calculated based on the combined predictions of Gold Derby users. The odds are always changing, so we’ll be updating this list as the season progresses.
For most of history there were five Grammy nominees in the Record of the Year category, same as there were for Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist.

When Dolly Parton moved to Nashville, people became enamored not only with her unique voice but with her talent as a songwriter. Parton prides herself on her lyrics and has received well-earned credit for her ability to write. One Nashville music publisher saw a glaring problem with her writing, though.
A Nashville music publisher said Dolly Parton had a weakness as a songwriter
As Parton’s career took off, she received praise for her ability to write. Her songs were complex, emotional, and evocative of her childhood in Tennessee. When she wrote, it was clear that the product was a Dolly Parton song. This, according to record producer Clarence Selman, was a problem.
“Her major weakness as a writer is that she has so stylized her songs by the time she’s written them, that it would lead another artist to believe that they’re only for Dolly Parton,” Selman...

Kevin Costner has been connected to a lot of projects throughout his tenure as an actor, with one of his most remarkable performances being that of John Dutton in Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone lore. This is why, when fans found out the saga was going to get cut short because he was leaving to helm his own Horizon saga, they were nothing short of devastated.

That being mentioned, there has been a lot of controversy about how Costner was going to leave the lore and what was to happen to his character. And, the most recent solution to this problem, shared by the John Dutton portrayer himself, is a completely different one than the ones told before and is one that might as well end up upsetting the Western’s fans.

“Before I left home, I had already made up in my mind, if Reba McEntire turns her chair, I am going to say Reba,” reveals Asher HaVon, who won Season 25 of “The Voice” on Tuesday night. The 31-year-old from Selma, Alabama defeated Josh Sanders, Bryan Olesen, Nathan Chester and Karen Waldrup in the finale, securing Reba her first victory as a coach. Watch Asher’s video interview with Gold Derby above.
Asher says working with Reba was “an out of body experience.” He explains, “I don’t think I’ve ever received so much encouragement and so much love and so much wisdom about this industry in my life. She literally saw me where I was, took me in, molded me and then sent me right back out. I was able to do exactly what I needed to do.”
After host Carson Daly announced Asher as the winner, Reba rushed the stage to join him.

From Whitney Houston to Elvis, there is no shortage of iconic singers who inspire sweeping films that dramatize their life stories. No matter the genre, cinematic features have captured the careers of the King of Rock and Roll Elvis Presley to country singer Jonny Cash. Most recently, Back to Black (2024) launched in theaters to capture the life and musical career of Amy Winehouse.
Still other films in the works will add to the canon of singer biography movies, like Timothée Chalamet’s upcoming portrayal of Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown and nephew to Jaafar Jackson’s portrayal of his uncle the late Michael Jackson in Michael.
We’ve compiled a list of music-centric biopics available to stream should the urge overcome viewers.

Kevin Costner was at the top of his career back in 1992, having climbed the ladder of success with his critically acclaimed Dances with Wolves. Meanwhile, pop star Whitney Houston was busy making her way to the top with her magical voice and electric personality. And in true Hollywood fashion, despite orbiting in their own spheres, Costner and Whitney came together in the 1990s to create an iconic masterpiece that still resonates with the audience, The Bodyguard.

Throughout his entire career, Kevin Costner has starred in multiple award-winning projects, a majority of which have earned tremendous acclaim, like Yellowstone. But one of his works met with such extraordinary heights of success that all his other pieces are yet to surpass. This project is none other than his Western masterpiece directorial debut movie from 1990, Dances with Wolves.

Not only did this film grant him three of his first-ever and only Oscar nominations and two wins, but it also launched him as a household name in the entertainment industry. But as much as his directing and acting skills played a major role in the film’s success, the truth is that the 1990 masterpiece just may have never been made had it not been for Costner’s ‘pain in the a—’ friend Michael Blake!

Music is one of the main keys to the success of a movie, as it helps to set the tone and enhances the viewers’ experience. It can even happen that films become overshadowed by the songs written and recorded specifically for them, and people tend to forget that they were originally soundtracks that lost any association with their origins.
Here are 5 dramas surpassed in popularity by their music themes, according to Reddit.
Dangerous Minds (1995)
Michelle Pfeiffer’s underrated gem presumably comes first in this respect, as everybody knows Gangsta's Paradise by Coolio, while the movie is unfairly forgotten. In fact, the story of a teacher taking up a job in East Palo Alto, a racially segregated and economically deprived city, is worth a try, apart from its cultish main song.
Chariots of Fire (1981)

Kevin Costner was honored with France’s Order of Arts and Letter at the Cannes Film Festival on Sunday, ahead of the Out of Competition world premiere of his two-part Western epic Horizon: An American Saga.
“You represent the America of wide spaces, the America of free minds, the America of cinema and the love of culture that we share on both sides of the Atlantic,” French Culture Minister Rachida Dati said in a speech paying tribute to the actor.
She went on to declare, “I will always love you” ahead of pinning the honorary ribbon medal to Costner’s white suit, in reference to his role in 1992 blockbuster The Bodyguard opposite Whitney Houston and its record-breaking hit track ‘I Always Love You’.

Plot: The life of singer Amy Winehouse (Marisa Abela), including her troubled relationship with her ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil (Jack O’Connell) and father (Eddie Marsan) and her struggles with addiction.
Review: When making a biopic about a famously troubled yet brilliant artist, there’s a fine line to walk when it comes to juggling the story of their art with the depiction of their addictions. Movies like Rocket Man or Walk the Line did it well, but they told ultimately triumphant stories about people overcoming those addictions. When the person succumbs, it can be dicier. I remember the Whitney Houston biopic, I Wanna Dance With Somebody, tried to do both but spent way too much time with its star miming along to Houston songs. Bohemian Rhapsody turned Freddie Mercury’s life into a PG-13 cartoon.

“Initially I did say no,” admits Golden Globe nominated actress Chrissy Metz while discussing her participation as Poodle Moth on the Fox reality TV series “The Masked Singer.” “I didn’t think I could do it. I was like, ‘I don’t know if I’m the girl for the job.’ Also, I run hot, especially in my face. How am I going to have a mask on and sing in the way that I’m supposed to sound good? It took some convincing. Ultimately, I realized it was really fun, challenging and liberating.” Watch her exclusive video interview with Gold Derby senior editor Denton Davidson above.
Metz was unmasked as Poodle Moth on Wednesday night’s quarter-finals episode of Season 11. She went home in fourth place as Clock, Goldfish and Gumball advanced to next week’s semi-finals. Panelist Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg was the only one who guessed her identity.

Pop music history is filled with roads not take. Madonna’s “Like a Virgin” could have been recorded by one of many other artists. The musical geniuses who wrote the track revealed what they thought of Madonna’s take on “Like a Virgin” and why they believed in the song when nobody else did.
Madonna’s ‘Like a Virgin’ has an interesting connection to Whitney Houston
While “Like a Virgin” is one of Madonna’s defining songs, she had no role in writing it. Instead, the track was co-written by Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly. The Golden Raspberry is one of the most important industry anti-prizes. Every year, the worst movies of the season are nominated for it: from failed blockbusters to dramas that look more like comedies. But often the winners are simply misunderstood masterpieces.
Some of these underrated films were chosen by Reddit users.
1. The Blair Witch Project, 1999
Can you believe it? The movie that changed the horror industry was nominated for the Golden Raspberry Anti-Award in the category Worst Picture. Maybe, from a certain point of view, even this kind of PR benefits the movie, but to be honest, The Blair Witch Project had no chance to "win" that year – it was up against Adam Sandler's Big Daddy, The Haunting, and Will Smith's Wild Wild West.

The singer went viral last year after revealing that despite winning Season 18 of the ABC competition, she had to return to performing in the NYC subways.

Kevin Macdonald's High & Low – John Galliano is now showing exclusively on Mubi in many countries.High & Low – John Galliano. What are the limits of forgiveness? Is making a documentary about a disgraced public figure, in which that remorseful person is allowed to try to explain their actions, inherently an act of damage-control propaganda? Or can it be a way of letting them tighten their own noose? Since its premiere at Telluride last September, Kevin Macdonald’s High & Low – John Galliano (2023) has fueled such heated conversations. Leaving many of its inquiries open-ended, this documentary is about neither complete condemnation nor exoneration. Instead, Macdonald tries to make sense of the enigma at his film’s center: a man who does not deny committing a hate crime over a decade ago, but who still claims to have no memory of the events or how he got there.Widely admired for his audacious style and designs,...

Fifty-three years ago today, the world was blessed with the birth of Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, who became an eternal icon in Latin pop culture and music. Selena blazed a trail for the música Mexicana explosion that we're seeing today and the Latina pop stars who have followed in her footsteps. Her impact is often minimized in comparison to the circumstances of her tragic death. However, her music - and how she bridged the gap between her Mexican and American identities - continue to resonate with new generations of Latine fans.
Selena Quintanilla was born on April 16, 1971, and grew up in Corpus Christi, TX. She was an Aries, a sign often described as "passionate, brave, and headstrong." Indeed of conforming with the música Mexicana artists of the time, she paved the way for herself by proudly embracing her Chicana identity. There’s a trap inherent to making a musical biopic. On the one hand, there’s something undeniably thrilling and crowd-pleasing about seeing a cultural icon like Freddie Mercury, Whitney Houston, or Elvis Presley come alive on the screen. On the other hand, when audiences buy a ticket to see a movie about a famous musician, they expect to hear their songs. More importantly, they expect to hear their voices.
Music history is filled with artists whose vocal qualities have become iconic in their own right, immediately distinctive and filled with incredible personality. Think of Mercury’s bombastic, four-octave vocal range that very few people on the planet are capable of replicating. Or Houston’s soulful, gospel-inspired technique, or Presley’s often-parodied stuttering Southern drawl. It’s not only difficult for an actor cast as these artists to live up to their singing — sometimes, it’s quite literally impossible.

Kevin Costner has been in the entertainment industry for decades now. Although he kickstarted his career with the independent film Sizzle Beach, U.S.A., many consider his film debut to be 1983’s The Touch due to issues with the former’s documentation and release.

Zendaya’s seemingly futuristic body armor actually has a long history steeped in cinema and pop culture.
At the root of it all is the likeness to the female robot, often called “Maria,” in Fritz Lang’s masterwork of futurism, Metropolis. Maria has inspired countless cultural references including the images of Lang’s robot used in David Bowie and Queen’s video for “Under Pressure”; a profound influence on Ralph McQuarrie’s designs for C-3Po in Star Wars; inspiring looks worn by Beyoncé, Madonna, Kylie Minogue and Lady Gaga; providing the concept of Janelle Monáe’s Metropolis: The Chase Suite album; and serving as a background for Whitney Houston’s music video for “Queen of the Night” as well references in the The Bodyguard.

Season 25 of The Voice is not going well for NBC. Fans are not the least bit happy about how the current season is turning out. It appears NBC is doing nothing but give them reason after reason to stop watching their megahit reality television show.
The Voice Is Too Country
One of the biggest complaints fans of The Voice have is the reality show is too country. With the addition of Reba McEntire and Dan + Shay, they believe there are too many country artists appearing on the show and not enough artists from other music genres like rock and roll.
There have been several comments made on the different social media outlets to fire Reba McEntire. There have also been comments, calling for Dan + Shay to be fired as well. However, it is Reba McEntire taking most of the heat because it appears, she is the one judge they dislike the most.

Ariana Grande and Bowen Young could not keep it together during a sketch on Saturday Night Live tonight.

While they made it nearly all the way through the sketch before breaking character, Yang began to lose focus while performing Shania Twain’s hit song “Man!
