From Whitney Houston to Elvis, there is no shortage of iconic singers who inspire sweeping films that dramatize their life stories. No matter the genre, cinematic features have captured the careers of the King of Rock and Roll Elvis Presley to country singer Jonny Cash. Most recently, Back to Black (2024) launched in theaters to capture the life and musical career of Amy Winehouse.
Still other films in the works will add to the canon of singer biography movies, like Timothée Chalamet’s upcoming portrayal of Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown and nephew to Jaafar Jackson’s portrayal of his uncle the late Michael Jackson in Michael.

British authorities have granted Julian Assange leave to appeal his U.S. extradition order in a victory for the WikiLeaks founder amid his ongoing legal battle.
The two U.K. judges deferred a decision in March on whether Assange, who is hoping to avoid being prosecuted in the States over espionage charges, could take his case to another appeal hearing.
The 52-year-old had been granted an appeal only if the Biden administration was unable to provide the court with suitable assurances, including that he is ensured freedom of speech protections and will not receive the death penalty.
The decision follows a British court ruling in April 2022 that Assange could be sent to the U.S. That ruling came after a legal battle that went all the way to the U.K. Supreme Court. Assange’s appeal was his only remaining legal avenue in the U.K. justice system.

Harlan Coben is one of the world’s most successful crime writers, and now one of the most successful TV producers, but he has revealed why his most enduring character has never been portrayed on television.
Coben has written “at least 35 novels,” he tells The Times of London in an interview, with sales of approximately 80million books worldwide. He has a 14-series production deal with Netflix, where he acts as executive producer on, and has eight series already on the streamer. His most recent adaptation, Fool Me Once, which was released at the beginning of the year, has had nearly 100million viewers.
But keen-eyed fans of his books will have noticed that his central detective Myron Bolitar, whom the author first came up with 30 years ago, has yet to appear on screen – and now Coben says there’s a reason, which is that he has a very specific image of the character in his head,...

If you’re not familiar with the situation, Max released a TikTok featuring House of the Dragon co-stars Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke. CNN aims to return to the recipe that gave its viewers explorers of international cuisine such as Anthony Bourdain and Stanley Tucci.
After announcing in October of 2022 that the Warner Bros. Discovery-backed outlet would pull back on the efforts that made it a name in original documentary series and films — ostensibly to cut costs at a time when its corporate parent was grappling with significant debt — CNN wants to get back into the business of developing original non-fiction series and movies.
“I think we are very much in the rebuild phase,” Amy Entelis, executive vice president for talent and content, tells Variety during a recent interview.
Mark Thompson, named in August to oversee CNN following a tumultuous run under predecessor Chris Licht, has articulated a strategy of building out new areas and verticals that can help the company win more customers and viewers. Original series would seem to be one of them.

Technological advancements have drastically affected the working of the entertainment industry, with CGI and 3D effects being used in pretty much every live-action project, be it movies or TV series. This especially includes films from major superhero franchises, like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which has produced some of the most intense VFX projects like the Avengers saga.
Marvel’s heavily CGI-affected Avengers saga.
However, surprisingly enough, one Oscar-nominated actor from one of the best pre-Avengers films, who had one of the most prominent side roles in Captain America: The First Avenger, has openly admitted that he can’t stand 3D. This actor is none other than Stanley Tucci, who even seems to have claimed that he finds it humiliating to work with the same, let alone enjoy working with it!

John Leguizamo is looking back on his would-be superhero debut in “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and claims that he could have been entangled in a web of a lawsuit against studio Sony over his casting process.
Leguizamo had previously confirmed in 2023 that after Michael Keaton originally turned down the role of Vulture, Leguizamo was about to film in the role. However, Keaton later returned and was cast in the part.
Leguizamo told Business Insider that any other actor “would have sued” the studio for that. “We went through a huge negotiation period, and we had agreed on terms,” he said. “I hadn’t signed a contract, but we had agreed. I think those are suable terms.”
Leguizamo added that he would be open to making joining a different superhero franchise after that experience, perhaps even in the DC. “I would if I was offered The Riddler or some part like that,” he said.

Emma Stone is an iconic actress who has starred in some iconic filmography over the years in Hollywood. From Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man franchise to Bella Baxter in Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things, Stone has found quite a status for herself.
However, the case wasn’t true in 2010 when she starred in a film titled Easy A. Being a story about a girl lying about losing her virginity to a college guy, the film narrates how easy it is for lies to spread and create something entirely different. John Leguizamo recently revealed to Business Insider some of the roles he regrets turning down the most throughout his career. They include Stanley Tucci’s role as Nigel in “The Devil Wears Prada,” Robin Williams’ voice role in “Happy Feet” and Vince Vaughn’s role in the 2005 action movie “Mrs. and Mrs. Smith.” Vaughn starred opposite Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt in the latter film.

With "Avengers: Endgame" behind us and Chris Evans having retired from the Marvel Cinematic Universe until further notice, we can all agree that "Captain America: The First Avenger" is the best Steve Rogers solo film, right? From its character work to its action sequences and a rousing score by the legendary Alan Silvestri, director Joe Johnston's WWII adventure is a top-tier MCU movie. While it may lack the visceral melees that the Russo Brothers brought to its sequels, "The First Avenger" delivers more than enough whiz-bang thrills and Brooklyn attitude to make up the difference (that and its politics are much less confused than those of "The Winter Soldier").
Johnston's superhero picture also boasts what is still one of the McU's most distinguished casts, pairing Evans with Hayley Atwell, Tommy Lee Jones, Sebastian Stan, Hugo Weaving, Stanley Tucci, Toby Jones, and Dominic Cooper. Even Natalie Dormer, David Bradley,...

Robert Eggers’ upcoming remake of F.W. Murnau’s silent classic Nosferatu is one of the more highly anticipated horror movies of the year, and the lucky folks at CinemaCon got a look at an exclusive first look at the chilling production.
The first look at Nosferatu was suitably terrifying with a heavy gothic tone. Classic-looking tall, dark castles, scurrying rats, blood gushing from necks, and full-on bleak horror. The first look at Nosferatu was suitably terrifying with a heavy gothic tone. Classic-looking tall, dark castles, scurrying rats, blood gushing from necks, and full-on bleak horror. Edward Berger’s last film, “All Quiet on the Western Front,” won four Academy Awards — including Best International Feature Film — for Netflix. The director’s new epic, “Conclave,” which is set up at Focus Features, may just best that tally.
Attendees at the 2024 CinemaCon convention in Las Vegas got a look at first footage from the film during the Universal Pictures and Focus Features presentation on Wednesday, April 10. A papal thriller starring Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow, and Isabella Rossellini, “Conclave” is no doubt an Oscar hopeful for Focus given its November 2024 release date. Having seen the trailer only reinforces the awards play. Give the devil its due: “Conclave” looks good.
When the pope dies, “Conclave” scrambles to find God’s new messenger on Earth. The search turns into a holy war that is anything but holy. Focus Features chairman Peter Kujawski described the film as a “Machiavellian thriller.

“When you ask a singer to sing they say yes,” says “MasterChef” judge Joe Bastianich while discussing his time as Spaghetti & Meatballs on “The Masked Singer.” The successful restaurateur says despite everything he’s accomplished, music is still his greatest passion. “I’m a singer-songwriter, I have a band, I’m going on tour this summer. It was an incredible challenge, but I accepted it and it was an incredible experience.” Watch his exclusive video interview with Gold Derby senior Denton Davidson above.
As Spaghetti & Meatballs, Bastianich sang “Only the Good Die Young” on “Billy Joel Night.” After landing in the bottom two with Lizard, he was sent packing after they dueled it out with “Movin’ Out (Anthony’s Song).” Panelists Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, Ken Jeong and Rita Ora couldn’t figure out his identity, guessing Stanley Tucci, Guy Fieri, Bobby Flay or Gordon Ramsay, respectively.

Questions abounded before the red carpet opened at Saturday’s 30th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, and not only about who would take home the coveted trophies awarded via votes from their fellow actors.
An element every other awards-show producer surely will be watching: How will the SAG Awards, staged at the Shrine Auditorium, perform on Netflix, the first paid subscription service not offering a free broadcast or online-viewing option during the 2024 awards season? And how will the streaming giant’s viewership formula translate to live-event ratings?
But with an awards ceremony that’s squarely focused on performers, other questions include what bit of comedy might arise when Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt reunite onstage as presenters, an homage to the trio’s delicious chemistry in 2006’s The Devil Wears Prada. (Fans of the film are hopeful for an advance pop-in by Stanley Tucci, announcing as his character famously did in the film,...

The Devil Wears Prada is a classic movie with a star-studded cast.
On Monday (February 19), we learned that a popular actress had been cast to bring the iconic Miranda Priestly to life in a stage production of the iconic story.
It got us thinking about the movie, and that led to us wondering which actor on the cast is the wealthiest.
While Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci are arguably the most recognizable actors from the film, do they have the highest net worth?
We did some digging and looked at the estimated net worth of the biggest celebrities to appear in the movie. You might be surprised to learn that none of the above-mentioned stars land at the top spot and only one of the is even in the top three.
The top earner is worth approximately $1.5 billion. Any guesses on who it is?
