After a new show is released, it’s only a matter of time before you find someone in it to hate. And it’s only natural! Even the protagonists of the show are getting fan hate, and the reasons for that can be absolutely different and sometimes even ridiculous.
It’s one thing to hate a character because he is in the wrong, being a bad person and wreaking havoc in the series. But it’s the whole other story when a character is hated for the actor or for lazy writing. And it seems to be the case with The Rookie’s Bailey Nune.
Now a few words about The Rookie, if you forgot or never knew. The show premiered in 2019 and is on its season 6 now. It follows a 40-year-old man who always had a dream of becoming a police officer, so now after a life-changing experience he...

I remember the early days of Destiny. The glimpses of footage, the beta test, and Peter Dinklage telling us that, by God, that wizard came from the moon. They were good days, and I was committed to all of it in my usually solo way. In 2017, Destiny 2 (from here I’m going to refer to the sequel as Destiny proper) promised to continue the story left hanging after the Taken King’s rise and the Vex’s attempt to master reality via time manipulation. The sequel-slash-continuation opened with a violent surge of Cabal into the Last City, leaving Guardians depowered, afraid, and scattered in the dangerous wilds.
It was a strong start, requiring more skill to survive the amplified risks ahead of us as players. New strikes and raids promised even tighter challenges, and the story continued to evolve. Forsaken – the first big expansion and the introduction to Destiny’s...

As The Rookie Season 6 nears its conclusion, viewers are eagerly awaiting the finale to uncover what’s next for Lucy and Tim, also known as ‘Chenford’ among fans. Despite numerous challenges, he has proven his capability through six seasons. The popular series faced disruptions due to the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes but made a triumphant return earlier this year with a noteworthy 29% improvement in premiere ratings over the previous season. Fans have endured another brief hiatus,...

Nathan Fillion thought Ant-Man was a low-rung superhero before he saw Paul Rudd carrying the role easily. He was surprised when Rudd made the character almost endearing to him. Earlier it was rumored that Fillion was considered for the Ant-Man role. The rumors started after Joss Whedon directed The Avengers, as he and the director had worked together on Firefly.

When Paul Rudd debuted as Ant-Man, he quickly made the pint-sized hero one of the most popular characters in Marvel. His take on the character even impressed Nathan Fillion, who didn’t have the highest opinion on Ant-Man at first.
What Nathan Fillion thought of Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man Nathan Fillion | Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic
Fillion considered himself a fan of superhero films, and starred in his own fair share of crime-fighting flicks. He was known for voicing Green Lantern on a couple of animated DC projects. He also had a role in the James Gunn original superhero movie Super.
In a resurfaced interview with the Advocate, while expressing his own desire to play superhero films, Fillion discussed his love of Marvel films. He was particularly surprised by the Marvel film Ant-Man, with Rudd playing the titular character. Fillion thought Rudd helped make a character he considered silly at first look quite endearing.

Actor Nathan Fillion has been the lead in several hit shows, with one of his most popular projects being Firefly. The show has been canceled for years, and yet Fillion is still recognized by the series to this day. However, he also starred in the hit series Castle, attracting a new legion of fans. But which one does he think brought him the most popularity?

It’s easy to see why Fillion would be recognized for Castle. The show was a hit on the network series ABC during its original run. But surprisingly, Firefly might’ve rivaled Fillion’s Castle fame even at the peak of the show’s run. Firefly only lasted for one season from 2002 to 2003. Whereas Castle had a long eight-season run.

As filming continues on James Gunn's Dcu Superman reboot, the Guardians of the Galaxy director has shared an update on the progress of the production.
Responding to a fan on social media who asked when we can expect a first trailer, Gunn revealed that we're going to be waiting another while, as the movie is now "just over halfway through" shooting.
Production recently moved to Macon, Georgia, and a photo was shared to X/Twitter of a heavily tarped-up set. Cameras are not expected to start rolling until early next month, but Gunn and co. definitely seem to be taking every precaution to ensure that spy shots don't leak online.

2002 was the year of the release of the already legendary Firefly. During its short life on television, the series managed to gain cult status, an army of loyal fans and an honorable place in the list of the best science fiction projects.
However, the love of critics and viewers could not save Firefly from a quick cancellation. The Fox network expected sky-high ratings, but its bosses interfered with the filming process and even showed episodes in a different order than the creators intended. As a result, the show was axed after its first season.
If you still haven't come to terms with Firefly's short life and have already watched its one and only season a hundred times, then you should pay attention to a series that went unnoticed by many viewers, but definitely deserves the attention of sci-fi fans – Dark Matter, released in 2015.

Stunning videos capturing a meteor flashing across Europe went viral over the weekend. Luckily, the European Space Agency concluded that the likelihood of any meteorites being found on Earth was low, which is great news considering that meteorites crash-landing on our planet spells massive trouble when it comes to horror.
The Blob, Creepshow, and Night of the Creeps all showcase the perils of meteorites unleashing an alien menace upon an unsuspecting population, and the niche subgenre gets perfectly encapsulated in filmmaker James Gunn’s Slither. One small, unassuming piece of space rock decimates a small South Carolina town through an evolving parasitic invader.

You might be thinking – what could be the connection between shows as different as The Rookie and The Walking Dead? One is a light-hearted police procedural and the other is a post-apocalyptic zombie show. However, they are actually connected by one thing – the questionable decisions of the writers.
There may be viewers out there who watched The Walking Dead and didn't like Glenn, but we don't know them. He's just a good guy who got better every season. So his completely unexpected and gruesome death came as a real shock.
But do fans remember how the creators seemed to be trying to maintain the ratings with Glenn's help? Shortly before his actual death, fans thought Glenn was dead when he fell right into the hands of the walkers, but after some time he miraculously escaped. Only to die again a few episodes later. Yes, this was definitely done for ratings.

While we'd expected James Gunn to cast a couple of big names as Superman's Ma and Pa Kent, the filmmaker instead chose to find two actors he felt embody the characters, Pruitt Taylor Vince and Neva Howell.
There's still no word on who, if anyone, will play Jor-El (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 star Kurt Russell remains the rumoured fan favourite) but we're expecting Jonathan and Martha to be a huge part of Clark Kent's story. Here's hoping neither of them meets a tragic end, anyway!

The table has been set, and the stakes raised, for The Rookie‘s Season 6 finale, airing Tuesday, May 21 on ABC.

The theme of Disney’s 2024 upfront presentation to advertisers Tuesday was “connections” — and not just because of the running bit started by “Deadpool” star Ryan Reynolds and “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” star Rob McElhenney, which involved their constant replaying of a five-second ad spot that said “Connections!” with a Disneyified logo and voiceover.
No, the symbol of unity across Disney’s brands was made up of a slew of announcements from Marvel, and about such other high-wattage projects as “Star Wars,” “The Bear,” “Only Murders in the Building,” the “Wizards of Waverly Place” sequel series, “9-1-1,” Ryan Murphy’s new slate of FX titles and more franchises with intersecting talent.

When a reliable performer like The Rookie, which has always been on the fall schedule if not delayed by a pandemic or strike, is suddenly not in a network’s starting lineup for the season, fans understandably would be worried.
Magnifying their concerns is the fact that The Rookie is headed into its seventh season, which is when a lot of broadcast series are canceled these days, including two ABC dramas, Station 19 and The Good Doctor, this year.
Meanwhile, Will Trent, which launched in midseason two years ago, had its first chance to get on the ABC fall schedule but didn’t get it.
Keeping the two dramas on the bench does not signal a lack of confidence in them.
“The opposite,” Disney TV Group President Craig Erwich told Deadline in an interview tied to the Disney upfront presentation.

The Rookie – Photo Credit: Disney/Raymond Liu Nathan Fillion Nathan Fillion now has two long-running TV series under his belt — Castle, which ran for eight seasons, and The Rookie, which is still going strong in its sixth season. Fans of both shows will probably recognize a few similarities between the shows that extend beyond their star: Both shows have a strong mix of drama and comedy, and both have generally featured stories that wrap up neatly in each hour-long episode. Alexi Hawley was a writer and producer on Castle, and he created The Rookie; Fillion has been an executive producer on both shows. If the two of them were to work together again after The Rookie winds up his run, they told us they would most likely follow the formula that’s worked so well for them already. A first look at Creature Commandos is right around the corner, Superman is still shooting, and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow should begin production later this year. Oh, and work on Peacemaker season 2 is also well underway.
The new Dcu is rapidly taking shape and it's looking increasingly likely Max's Lanterns will be next to reveal its cast and creative team.
It's previously been reported that DC Studios has enlisted Chris Mundy (a writer and producer for Criminal Minds) as Lanterns' showrunner, and scooper @MyTimeToShineH is today claiming that comic book writer Tom King is a co-writer on the show.
We know he's part of Gunn's Dcu braintrust and penned the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow series the movie is named after and based on. He also counts the likes of Batman, Wonder Woman, and Mister Miracle among his many DC Comics credits.

Up, Up, and Away! Truth, Justice, and The American Way. These immediately cause comic fans to conjure up one specific character, The Big Blue Boy Scout. Superman. Heralded as the one that started the superhero boom in comics way back in 1938, there have been a lot of live-action versions over the years. Last year’s Flash movie highlighted some of the more popular ones and even one that had never actually been put on film. With James Gunn taking over the Dcu and using a new Superman film as the starting line, what can we expect from the upcoming film?

Actor Nathan Fillion got his breakthrough role in the cult classic Firefly. The series was similar to one of many shows featuring a space crew traveling to different planets, including Star Trek. But Fillion felt Firefly differed from the likes of Star Trek in a pretty grounded way.
How Nathan Fillion felt about ‘Firefly’ comparisons with ‘Star Trek’ Nathan Fillion | Michael Ansell/Getty Images
On the surface, Star Trek and Firefly might look similar enough without any context. But beyond their premises of space crews exploring the galaxy, they couldn’t have been anymore different. Star Trek often features an altruistic space crew trying to influence the galaxy for the better. Firefly, however, was about individual characters with often vastly different views coming together and simply trying to get by.

In the image that James Gunn released, depicting David Corneswet’s Superman, a slew of easter eggs have already ensnared audiences into giving the picture a closer look. Despite all the conversations around the suit, fans are now increasingly more interested in what the big purple blob behind Superman is. Speculations have run wild, and there are multiple candidates that have come to the forefront of the conversation when it comes to figuring out who it might be.
David Corneswet’s Superman as revealed by @jamesgunn, captured by Jessica Miglio
The purple blob can be multiple things, given how storied Superman’s history is in dealing with the absurd. It must also be taken into account that James Gunn is a comics fan himself and loves obscure characters, which could mean the purple blob could be some Golden Age monstrosity from Supeman’s Action Comics days.

No matter how dire the circumstances, Batman is known for his unwavering “no-kill” code, which forbids him from taking a life in DC Comics. However, in Injustice God Among Us: Year Three, Bruce Wayne breaks his own rule to protect one of his dearest friends, Superman.
As everyone knows, the Joker from DC is one of the vilest, vicious, and most depraved supervillains. Nevertheless, Superman is restricted by the same code that keeps Batman from killing the Clown Prince of Crime. For similar reasons, both DC superheroes have strong moral codes prohibiting them from killing their enemies. Yet, in recent years, DC comic writers have endeavored to differentiate between the two.

On Monday, DC Studios co-ceo and Superman's director James Gunn shared a first look at David Corenswet's Man of Steel. The image didn't feature the hero striking an iconic pose; instead, he was putting his boots on one at a time, just like the rest of us.
The meaning behind the photo was obvious, but the delivery was flawed. Fans immediately zeroed in on the suit's flaws, including the fact that the Kryptonian sitting down meant it appeared baggy or ill-fitting in places.
Then, there was the glowing orb in the background which, for some reason, Superman was seemingly ignoring. It seems the idea was to tease the movie's villains (likely Mongul), but again, the presentation let it down.
Shortly after the reveal dropped, we asked for your opinions on the costume and thousands of you voted. Now, we have the results!
33.34% of you declared Superman's suit "Meh.

"The Witch" and "The Green Knight" star Ralph Ineson is known for playing imposing, sometimes otherworldly figures (also: a love-to-hate-him character in the UK version of "The Office"), so it's only natural that he'll be playing a supervillain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. News broke yesterday that Ineson has been cast as Galactus, the planet-eating god figure whom Jack Kirby and Stan Lee first introduced during a Fantastic Four run in the '60s. Galactus appeared in "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" in 2007, but this time around, the character will return to a much more interconnected Marvel world beginning with Phase Six kickoff "The Fantastic Four."
Ineson may have just nabbed a major role in the long-running superhero franchise, but this actually isn't the first time he's appeared in an MCU film. A full decade ago, Ineson popped up briefly in "Guardians of the Galaxy," playing a Ravager pilot.

Production continues on DC Studios' Superman, and just days after sharing that widely discussed first look at David Corenswet's Man of Steel, director James Gunn has now shared a new behind-the-scenes photo.
This one highlights comic book luminaries invited to set by the filmmaker and executive, including current Superman writers Jason Aaron and Joshua Williamson, along with legends like Dan Jurgens and Jerry Ordway.
Justice League International's Kevin Maguire was also on hand, as was Mister Terrific's co-creator John Ostrander and DC Comics heavyweights Jim Lee and Scott Snyder. You'll also spot All-Star Superman artist Frank Quitely (that comic has seemingly been a key source of inspiration for the DC Studios co-ceo).
"Great day with some comic book titans visiting the [Superman] set," Gunn said on Instagram. "So many of my heroes all at once it was really overwhelming."

James Gunn is quite busy carefully crafting his new Dcu from the ruins of the former Dceu. And just like his predecessor, Zack Snyder, he is commencing with a story based on the Man of Steel. He has caused major ripples among the fan community after revealing his version of the Superman costume.
All-Star Superman
Choosing Superman to officially inaugurate his DC Universe was a smart move, considering how the ‘Hope’-man was the first comic book superhero, as well as DC’s first hero. His costume is quite iconic, which is why fans pay attention to every detail when it comes to live-action.
However, in the costume reveal, there’s a lot more going on than just David Corenswet rocking his Superman suit. Can you spot what it is?

Zack Snyder launched the Dceu back in 2013 with the Henry Cavill starrer Man of Steel. While the film was a reboot of the Superman franchise, it also acted as the first film in a planned shared universe which would ultimately lead to the Justice League, much like DC’s competitors Marvel. Snyder even had a planned five-part story for the film franchise.
However, Snyder got to truly realize his vision due to the studio’s mismanagement issues and his own personal problems. The filmmaker was reportedly also planning a Man of Steel 2, which would have seen Superman fight Brainiac. While the film never materialized, the first image from James Gunn’s Superman might indicate the presence of the popular villain.

To choose emotion over action is how madness lies, or at least that's how it seems when it comes to television ratings in this Golden Age of procedurals.
It is rare to see a drama series deviate from by-the-numbers plots featuring by-the-book law enforcement characters because networks opt to make spinoffs within that formula rather than create new shows outside of it.
Someone apparently forgot to tell AMC because their deliciously non-formulaic series Interview With the Vampire is set to return for a highly-anticipated second season on May 12.
One could argue that this television series is a twice-over spinoff of Anne Rice's 1976 novel, the source material of the 1994 theatrical film starring Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, and Kirsten Dunst.
A better take might be to acknowledge how well this adaptation updates the original story to satisfy fans from both back in the day and now.

In a new interview with GQ, celebrity trainer Paolo Mascitti is revealing the tips and tricks he used to turn the lean David Corenswet into a jacked, powerhouse ahead of filming on the Dcu's Superman.
Said Mascitti, "This is a James Gunn film, and he has a specific vision of the entire project. David had been working out intensively before I met him, but he’s naturally a very lean guy. He’s 6’6” but we wanted to put more bulk on him. He probably went from 200lbs to 240lbs, but some of that mass will be shed as he continues to tone up.”
He revealed that he and Corenswet had very intense training sessions for about 5 months before filming started on Superman. However, even though the cameras are now rolling, they're still training.

Earlier this week, DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn shared a first look at David Corenswet suited up as Superman's Man of Steel. It likely hasn't received the reaction Gunn wanted, generating memes and an overall mixed response.
Zack Snyder hasn't shared his take on the reveal, but one of his longtime collaborators has.
Clay Staub served as an aerial second unit director on both versions of Justice League, was an additional second unit director on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and also collaborated with Snyder on 300 and Dawn of the Dead.

Actor Nathan Fillion had just completed his run as Castle when he was cast in The Rookie. But he admitted he sometimes found it hard to leave his Castle character behind when doing the hit ABC series.

It might’ve taken a while for Fillion to truly shake off Richard Castle for The Rookie. In the ABC series, Fillion found himself in somewhat familiar territory. Like Castle, The Rookie saw Fillion’s character, John Nolan, solving crimes. So it might’ve been easy to channel Rick Castle from time to time, even after the show’s end.
But personality-wise, Castle and Nolan couldn’t have been any more different. Rick Castle was a mystery writer who tagged along with police officers, many times unwelcomed, for his own amusement at first. The character also didn’t always take...
