While George Miller’s Fury Road has been rightly celebrated as one of the greatest action movies of all time, its path to theaters back in 2015 was not easy. While the behind-the-scenes battles between stars Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron are legendary, they weren’t the only headaches Miller had to deal with while making his epic. As documented in the excellent book, “Blood, Sweat & Chrome: The Wild and True Story of Mad Max: Fury Road” by Kyle Buchanan (buy it Here), the biggest battle Miller had to fight was in post-production. The studio wanted the movie cut way down, with them notoriously demanding a PG-13 cut from Miller and his editor, Margaret Sixel (also his wife).
Ironically, Miller wasn’t opposed to a PG-13, as that was the rating he had aimed for, and he was surprised the MPAA didn’t grant it. “I thought it was a PG-13 film,...

The Cannes Film Festival keeps on chugging, with more acquisitions, more premieres and an honorary Palme d’Or awarded to a studio for the first time.
The Glorious Return of Jacques Audiard
French filmmaker Jacques Audiard is a consistent staple at Cannes. His film “A Prophet” won the Grand Prix in 2010, 2012’s “Rust and Bone” competed for the Palme d’Or and 2015’s “Deephan” won the Palme d’Or. The last time Audiard was at Cannes in 2021, his smaller “Paris, 13th District” competed for the Palme d’Or.
Now he’s back with “Emilia Pérez,” a musical crime comedy about an escaped Mexican cartel leader undergoing gender-affirming surgery that stars Karla Sofía Gascón, Selena Gomez, Zoe Saldaña and Édgar Ramírez. And judging by the response to the film, it sounds like he has a good shot at Cannes’ top prize once again.
The film “landed the loudest, most enthusiastic standing ovation,...

Francis Ford Coppola’s “Megalopolis” just may have broken the internet — and the brains of more than a few critics at Cannes.
Upon the film’s world premiere, fans and critics alike took to social media to capture the “insanity” of Coppola’s latest feature, which has been described by the auteur as a “Roman epic.” Count IndieWire’s David Ehrlich as a fan: In his review, he said that “Coppola’s wild and delirious fever dream inspires new hope for the future of movies.” The film debuted in competition at the Cannes Film Festival and is still looking for distribution, but will definitely get an IMAX release regardless.
Adam Driver leads the feature as a pseudo alter ego of writer/director Coppola, with the Oscar-nominated actor playing an architect who envisions saving his corrupt city and transforming the metropolis into a utopia. Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron combined their excellence in presenting Mad Max: Fury Road which instantly captivated audiences. While their on-screen chemistry was a complete bang, their off-screen bond was otherwise, creating quite a buzz even before the production kicked off.
Charlize Theron with Tom Hardy in a still from Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)
However, things could have been completely different had director George Miller got his original choice for Theron’s Furiosa role for the movie.

One cannot imagine anyone else other than Charlize Theron for the Imperator Furiosa role in Mad Max: Fury Road who ate and left no crumbs. However, things were initially different when they were looking for a perfect cast to fill in the shoes.

The making of "Mad Max: Fury Road" is the stuff of legend, as chronicled in Kyle Buchanan's wildly entertaining book, "Blood, Sweat & Chrome: The Wild and True Story of Mad Max: Fury Road." That being the case, it's only to be expected that the cast and crew of the new prequel film, "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga," would have some tall tales of their own to regale about what went into the making of director George Miller's return to the Wasteland. Doubly so for star Anya Taylor-Joy, who follows in Charlize Theron's footsteps by bringing the titular battle-hardened, shaved-headed, metal-armed, stoic post-apocalyptic warrior to life as a young woman in the movie.
Contrary to the nature of the "Mad Max" universe, Miller himself is renowned for running safe sets and has never been accused of abusing his actors or otherwise mistreating the members of his crews. The...

Every passing day brings us closer to director George Miller fulfilling a dream that has been decades in the making, but is that truly the end of the story? Long before he ever unleashed "Mad Max: Fury Road" upon unsuspecting audiences in 2015, as revealed in author Kyle Buchanan's excellent making-of book titled "Blood, Sweat & Chrome: The Wild and True Story of Mad Max: Fury Road," Miller's extensive backstory for the legendary Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) ultimately led to tentative plans for an entire prequel film down the line. That time has finally come in the form of the upcoming "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga" starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth, giving us a definitive origin for the fearsome and scene-stealing hero while putting a button on what's sure to be one heck of an action duology ... or so we thought.

Spoiler Alert: This article contains plot details for “Challengers,” now playing in theaters.
All Tashi Duncan wanted was great tennis. At the end of Luca Guadagnino’s buzzy tennis drama “Challengers,” the camera freezes on Tashi (Zendaya) as she screams “come on!” following a match point volley for the ages between competitors Patrick Zweig (Josh O’Connor) and Art Donaldson (Mike Faist). The volley got so intense that it ends with Art leaping over the net and falling into Patrick’s arms. Is Tashi mortified or elated? [Editor’s note: The following contains spoilers for “Challengers.”]
Zendaya is admitting that yes, the ending of “Challengers” can be considered “confusing,” especially since her own mother had an entirely different take on it than she did.
The actress told New York Times journalist Kyle Buchanan that it makes sense why the ambiguous final scene can be “confusing” for audiences.
“My mom read the ending so different[ly]. My mom is like, ‘She’s pissed because they realize that they don’t need her anymore,'” Zendaya said in an interview excerpt tweeted by Buchanan. “I was like, ‘But I smile a little bit at the end!'”
The final sequence captures Tashi (Zendaya) watching as her almost-retired husband Art (Mike Faist) and his former best friend Patrick (Josh O’Connor) embrace on the tennis court without a winner being announced. In 2016, George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road made a big splash at the Oscars claiming six Academy Awards from the astonishing 10 nominations. Starring Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, the 2015 movie is undoubtedly a post-apocalyptic masterpiece. But it was the fruition of the decades-long patience of Miller.
Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy in Mad Max: Fury Road
The casting, in particular, had been quite a long process, and inherently, the movie was far from being instantaneous. To begin with, it was nearly unimaginable to have any other actor playing Max after Mel Gibson elevated the character to an epic height in the Miller-directed 1979 movie, Mad Max.

The director of 2018’s Sorry To Bother You – Boots Riley – is finally getting his next film up and running with Neon backing the project.
If you saw Sorry To Bother You in cinemas back in 2018, whether you loved it or hated it, there was no arguing that the film heralded the arrival of a filmmaker with ideas.
It was one of this writer’s favourite films of the year, attacking corporate-driven American culture through clever satire, compelling weirdness and unbridled creativity. I dug into the sheer design of the film in fact back in 2020, right here.
Boots Riley was the filmmaker behind Sorry To Bother You and in the years since, we haven’t seen a cinematic follow-up from him. Riley did create the Amazon series, I Am Virgo. That was another big creative swing, although for this writer at least, perhaps a switch to longer-form storytelling lost some of...

George Miller wrote down the saga of Furiosa, the greatest survivor of his twisted vision of the apocalypse, more than 20 years ago. And now after concluding her story—at least for the time being—he is going back to its beginning with Furiosa, one of the most anticipated blockbuster epics of 2024. And at last it has a trailer. Oh, what a day, what a lovely day!
Filmed over six months last year, and across vast stretches of Australian deserts and outback, Furiosa (as the trailer will explain in all caps) is set 45 years before the events of Fury Road and the other Mad Max films and will track how a young child stolen from the Green Place of Many Mothers will rebuild her body and soul into a legendary driver of the Citadel, and one of the Wasteland’s fiercest warriors. In 2015, George Miller punched all of our faces in with the jaw-dropping action spectacle "Mad Max: Fury Road." Essentially a feature-length chase scene, "Fury Road" took the "Mad Max" franchise — and action movies in general — to new heights. And while Tom Hardy's take on the Road Warrior was memorable, the film ultimately didn't belong to him. Instead, it was Imperator Furiosa, as played by Charlize Theron, who really stole the show. During the long production of "Fury Road," Miller and company came up with enough backstory for Furiosa to fill an entirely different movie. And now that movie is a reality. "Furiosa" will serve as a prequel to "Fury Road," taking us along for another high-octane journey of blood and chrome. And you can now watch the highly anticipated first trailer for the film above, and don't forget to check out the beautiful motion poster.

With the fall festival circuit firmly in the rearview mirror, many of the most anticipated films of the 2023 fall season have already screened for critics. One of the last films that remained unseen was “The Iron Claw,” Sean Durkin’s new A24 sports drama that tells the story of the Von Erich wrestling family. The film, which stars Zac Efron as Kevin Von Erich and Jeremy Allen White as Kerry Von Erich, premiered in Dallas on Wednesday before screening for critics in Los Angeles on Sunday. And early reactions suggest that A24 could have another hit on its hands.
“The Iron Claw” documents the rapid rise to wrestling superstardom and even quicker fall toward tragedy that befell the Von Erich family. After family patriarch Fritz Von Erich (played by Holt McCallany in the film) built a following as a villainous heel on the wrestling circuit, his sons entered the business in quick succession.

The snow covered French Alps might not be a place where you’d expect to hear the propulsive sound of Caribbean island steel drums.
But that wonderful boinging is audible – extremely audible – right at the start of “Anatomy of a Fall,” the twisty mystery that won the Cannes Film Festival top prize for director Justine Triet.
The French film, now in limited release, depicts the ordeal of novelist Sandra (played by Oscar contender Sandra Hüller), who is suspected of murder when her husband Vincent dies after plummeting from a high window in their mountain chalet.
During the whole first segment of the film, Vincent has cranked up the volume on an instrumental cover of 50 Cent’s 2003 “P.I.M.P.,” a hit single from his major studio debut album “Get Rich or Die Tryin’.” The version we hear in the film is a 2008 remix by the German music ensemble Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band:...

Julianne Moore and Natalie Portman are two halves of the same woman in the first trailer for Todd Haynes’ latest feature, “May December.”
In this case, Julianne Moore plays Gracie, a woman who gained infamy after falling in love with a teenage boy. Portman plays Elizabeth, the actress tasked with playing Gracie in a movie. The pair are flung into each other’s orbit when Elizabeth comes to stay with Gracie and her husband in order to research Gracie’s character.
The trailer itself looks utterly beautiful, with Haynes’ particular love of outdoor spaces on display. But, more importantly, the story seems to analyze themes also exhibited in Haynes’ past work, including illicit relationships and society’s equating of fame and infamy. It feels less like “Far From Heaven” and more a mash-up of “Carol” and Haynes’ “Superstar,” which sounds amazing.
“May December” premiered at Cannes in May to solid reviews.

Has Sofia Coppola done it again? The acclaimed writer/director is currently putting together what kids these days would call a "heater," riding high on streak of well-received movies between 2017's remake of "The Beguiled," "On the Rocks" in 2020, and now "Priscilla." The biopic of Priscilla Presley, Elvis' wife and a thoroughly compelling firebrand in her own right, stars Cailee Spaeny as the title character opposite Jacob Elordi as the famous singer. Marking a stark departure from director Baz Luhrmann's approach in last year's "Elvis," Coppola set out to tell the story from the perspective of someone who hasn't really received much of a spotlight in history, rather than confining a figure as important as Priscilla to a bit role or a supporting player on the margins.
Based on Priscilla Presley's memoir "Elvis and Me," the film just held its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival and has...

From the first screening of “The Idol” at the Cannes Film Festival in May, the warning signs appeared. When not even Gerri can keep herself from being washed away by the “tsunami” of “Barbie” marketing that has flooded the cultural discourse over the last two months, it’s clear a major movie event is afoot. But until Sunday night, following the “Barbie” premiere in Los Angeles, any kind of critical reaction to Greta Gerwig’s latest feature – her third film as a solo director – has been absent. So what’s the early word from those lucky enough to attend the lavish debut event?

A select few humans got a glimpse into Barbie World on Sunday night at the world premiere of Greta Gerwig’s highly anticipated “Barbie,” starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.
Social media exploded with reactions. ScreenRant writer Joseph Deckelmeier called the film “funny, bombastic and very smart,” adding that “Greta Gerwig aims for the fences and hits a home run.” Deckelmeier praised Robbie’s performance as “great” and noted that Gosling and Simu Liu are “pure entertainment.”

“The Idol” — HBO’s new series starring Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye as a Svengali-like guru who takes a pop star (Lily Rose-Depp) under his wing — premieres on June 4 after a full year of making headlines for its reportedly “chaotic” production, “toxic” set and, according to some, “sexual torture porn” content.
Here’s a timeline of all “The Idol” controversies that have beset the series, from the replacing of original director Amy Seimetz to reports from traumatized crew members to reception by critics, who, to date, have given it a dismal 25% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Amanda Seyfried is dropping her opinion on Elizabeth Holmes’ prison sentence into the mix.
The “Dropout” Emmy winner, who portrayed the Theranos founder in the Hulu limited series, addressed Holmes’ 11-year prison sentence over defrauding investors in the medical start-up.
“There’s two kids that are hanging in the balance here. As a parent — just as a mom,” Seyfried said while promoting new series “The Crowded Room” on “Good Morning America,” adding, “Life’s not fair, but in a lot of ways it’s fair. It’s fair for her, in particular.”
Theranos raised almost $1 billion from investors and was valued at close to $4.5 billion since being founded in 2003. The company was dissolved in 2018; Holmes and former partner Ramesh “Sunny” Balwani have been ordered to pay $452 million in restitution to the investors.

One of the biggest premieres at this year’s Cannes Film Festival wasn’t for a movie but rather a TV show as audience members geared up to witness the first two episodes of what appears to be HBO’s next big event show, “The Idol.”
First reactions for the Sam Levinson-produced melodrama, which follows a young pop star (Lily-Rose Depp) who falls under the sway of a potentially dangerous nightclub promoter (Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye) are in, and they range anywhere from “a Pornhub-homepage odyssey starring Lily Rose Depp’s areolas and The Weeknd’s greasy rat tail” to “it’s really more like somebody put ‘Black Swan,’ ‘Succession’ and ‘Secretary’ in a blender and let it rip.”
One thing is clear, however, “Sam Levinson fans won’t be disappointed.”

‘The Idol’ First Reactions: A ‘Pornhub-Homepage Odyssey,’ ‘Prepare Yourself for Quite the Discourse’
Few new TV shows in recent memory have generated more mystique than “The Idol.” The music industry drama from Sam Levinson and The Weeknd (working under his real name Abel Tesfaye) attracted plenty of attention for its expensive reshoots and reported creative clashes, but its creators have always stood by their vision and insisted that the extra work was worth it.
The series stars Lily Rose-Depp as the world’s biggest pop star whose relationship with a sleazy guru (Tesfaye) leads her down a dark, cult-like path. In a recent interview, Levinson and Tesfaye explained that the show was inspired by the dark side of celebrity that Tesfaye had experienced when he rose to prominence as The Weeknd.
“Abel came to us with a pitch,” Levinson said. “He said something that I’ll always remember: ‘If I wanted to start a cult, I could.’ What he meant is that his...

Two highly anticipated movies debuted at Cannes on Saturday, practically back-to-back, and critics were whipped to a frenzy with praise for them. Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon” is easily one of the most anticipated movies of 2023, and with the first trailer having dropped on Thursday, it’s no surprise that the line to get into the theater for the Cannes screening was immense, according to social media.
“Flower Moon” was lauded as another standout for Scorsese, while not possibly being his best ever and the prodigious runtime seemingly was not a problem. Freelance writer Martyn Conterio said, “It’s top tier Marty.” Praise is going out to actress Lily Gladsone who Discussing Film senior film critic Yasmine Kandil calls “the soul of the film.” IndieWire’s David Ehrlich also gave praise to Leonardo DiCaprio, calling his turn in the feature as “the best performance of his life.

Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon” premiered Saturday at the Cannes Film Festival to near-universal acclaim and what trade sites estimated was a nine-minute standing ovation upon its completion.
“At 80, Martin Scorsese has finally made a Western, and it packs a wallop,” Deadline’s Pete Hammond wrote in his rave review. “There are many ways to spoil the sheer pleasure of watching a master filmmaker handle a vast tale like this, working at the top of a very impressive game at a time when many have retired. I won’t do that except to say with a length of 3 1/2 hours the filmmaker and his longtime editor, Thelma Schoonmaker, don’t seem to be wasting any time. Yes, it feels truly epic in many ways, but all in service to the story. I never looked at my watch.”

Director Todd Haynes’ is receiving high marks for his dark comedy “May December,” which debuted at Cannes on Saturday, with praise abounding for his return to the narrative film world after a three-year absence (the 2019 feature “Dark Waters”).
The film starring Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore, centers on an actress who travels to Maine to study a woman whom she intends to portray on film.
Sky Cinema has already acquired UK distribution rights, and judging by the first batch of buzz, other markets may not be far behind. The picture seems to continue the filmmaker’s interest in dysfunctional civilizations and skewed gender roles. His early 1990s work, including “Poison” saw him hailed as a leading figure in New Queer Cinema (or “The Queer New Wave”).
“May December” marks his fifth feature film collaboration with Julianne Moore following “Safe” in 1995, the Douglas Sirk homage “Far from Heaven” in 2002, the eclectic...

For critics attending the 76th Cannes Film Festival this week, Martin Scorsese's adaptation of David Grann's book "Killers of the Flower Moon" was among the hottest tickets in town. The latest film from the acclaimed director has been garnering headlines months ahead of its release, as the 206-minute epic is set to tell the real-life story of a series of murders on Osage Native American land in the 1920s.
Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert de Niro, and the ever-underrated "Certain Women" star Lily Gladstone all share the screen in a story about the greed and violence that erupt among white men when the Osage people strike oil in Oklahoma. Scorsese has revealed that his real-life meetings with Indigenous descendants of those murdered changed the way he wanted to frame the story, and he's also spoken about how the story reckons with genocide in the midst of a love story. Harrison Ford was moved to tears amid a rapturous standing ovation following the global world premiere of “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.” The film just had its first-ever screening at the Cannes Film Festival, and everyone was clearly happy to see him back in action. If Ford’s overwhelmed reaction to their reaction is anything to go by, the feeling was mutual.
The actor, turning 81 in just under two months, was moved amid the seemingly positive response to the fifth and allegedly final “Indiana Jones” movie. Released by Walt Disney, Lucasfilm’s latest actioner comes courtesy of not Steven Spielberg but director James Mangold, who has some experience helming acclaimed “one last ride” franchise installments like Hugh Jackman’s “Logan.”

Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes is separating herself from the fictionalized portrayals of her personal, professional, and criminal life.

The 95th Academy Awards had two notable absentees over the weekend: Tom Cruise and James Cameron. “The two guys who insisted we go to the theatre didn’t come to the theatre,” Kimmel joked about the pair’s impassioned push to get people back into the cinemas after the pandemic. What the host said next is probably the reason why Cruise was nowhere to be seen. “Everyone loved Top Gun, everyone! I mean, Tom Cruise with his shirt off in that beach football scene? L Ron hubba hubba,” Kimmel joked, referring to Scientology founder L Ron Hubbard and the controversial religion of which Cruise is an advocate.
Kimmel’s wife, executive producer Molly McNearney, has since said that her husband wouldn’t have made the joke in Cruise’s presence, which is revealing in itself, but for Cruise, why risk it? It’s not like he needs to get more...

Hugh Grant did not seem pleased with model and presenter Ashley Graham‘s questions during their pre-show interview.
The chat was part of ABC’s Countdown to the Oscars. It started poorly when Graham asked the 62-year-old actor his favorite part about attending the Oscars. After an awkward silence, he replied, “It’s fascinating… the whole of humanity is here. It’s vanity fair.”
Graham misunderstood Grant’s dig at the Oscars being a “vanity fair,” or an event that is overly frivolous; instead, believing he was referring to the Vanity Fair party after the ceremony.
Graham then went on to the next question, asking Grant if he was excited to see anyone win. Again, he offered a short response: “No one in particular.”
The actor’s blunt replies continued on when talking about his own suit and his appearance in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.
The interview divided audiences.

As a global audience starts to tune in for the 95th Academy Awards, one thing that is guaranteed to surprise viewers is the creative decision not to have a red carpet, but a champagne-colored runner instead. But can this bold choice withstand the traffic on Hollywood’s biggest night? Update: It cannot, and the backlash is already brewing.
“I think the decision to go with a champagne carpet rather than a red carpet shows how confident we are that no blood will be shed,” joked Oscar host Jimmy Kimmel at the unrolling ceremony.
This is the first time since 1961 that the famous Oscars red carpet has not been red, one of the many big changes made for this year’s ceremony including a new dress code and the addition of an Academy Award “crisis team.”

It’s been nearly a year since Will Smith struck Chris Rock on the Academy Awards stage. As a result, Smith is not expected to attend the 95th annual Oscars ceremony on Sunday night.
Smith isn’t the only notable talent that won’t be attending the Oscars this year. Reports indicate that “Top Gun: Maverick” star Tom Cruise has also been a no-show at the event, even though he is nominated as a producer for the blockbuster in the best picture category. After a very carefully curated series of stops during awards season, Cruise bows out on the final evening.

Sony Pictures Classics has made many wise investments at the Sundance Film Festival over the years. Its 2022 acquisition, “Living,” just nabbed Oscar nominations for Best Actor, Bill Nighy, and Best Adapted Screenplay. Other recent Sundance titles propelled to the Oscars by the studio include “The Father” (2020), “Call Me By Your Name” (2017), “Whiplash” (2014) and “An Education” (2009). Amy Adams’ very first career bid came for “Junebug,” which the distributor picked up from Park City in 2005. That film’s writer, Angus MacLachlan, is the director of “A Little Prayer,” one of Sony Pictures Classics’ 2023 festival purchases (the other being Audience Award winner “The Persian Version”).

Hear that faint sound, far off in the distance? That's the winds of change, folks.
We're well and truly in the thick of the Streaming Era, as major platforms like Netflix and Prime Video have emerged as genuine competition for any given film looking for a distribution partner. Now, even awards season can't escape the gravitational pull exerted by the streamers. Could this be a way to solve the issue of flagging television ratings that have dogged even the top awards shows in the last several years? Who knows! This latest development is fascinating, nonetheless.
In a surprise announcement, Netflix has revealed that it will stream the heralded Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards ceremony live for subscribers, beginning in 2024. But even this year's ceremony is set to undergo a major change, as well. Netflix will stream the 29th annual SAG Awards, set to air the night of February 26, 2023, exclusively on Netflix's YouTube channel.

“Oh man, all my words are leaving me. I just am so grateful right now. I’m in this room full of my heroes. Brad [Pitt], I love you. Quentin [Tarantino], I printed out the ‘Pulp Fiction’ script when I was 12. I cannot believe I’m here right now,” he said in his acceptance speech.
But some noticed a distinct, deep Southern twang to the California native’s voice, prompting fans on Twitter to troll Butler for maintaining his “fake” Elvis Presley accent.

It’s that time of year again. While some directors annually share their favorite films of the year, Steven Soderbergh lists everything he consumed, media-wise. For 2022––another year in which he not only released a new film, but shot another––he still got plenty of watching in.
Along with catching up on 2022’s new releases, he took in plenty of classics, including Sorcerer, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, The Battle of Algiers, All That Jazz, and All About Eve. Quite intriguingly, he also watched cuts of David Fincher’s forthcoming The Killer four times over a week-long span in August. Ahead of a February release, he’s also watched cuts of his forthcoming Magic Mike’s Last Dance five times, the first time being only two months after shooting began.
See the list below via his official site.

“Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” co-stars Harrison Ford and Ke Huy Quan made waves back in September when the two snapped a photo at the D23 convention in Anaheim. This was the first time the pair had seen each other in person in 38 years since they starred together in the second entry in the “Indy” franchise.
Now, Harrison Ford has opened up to Uproxx about how he’s finally had a chance to see “Everything Everywhere All at Once.” Quan stars in the film as Waymond Wang, among other multiverse versions of the character, and it’s looking like he’s a frontrunner for the Best Supporting Actor Oscar after notching Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award nominations and winning the New York Film Critics Circle prize for Best Supporting Actor. Ford, it seems, couldn’t agree more with the myriad praise the actor has received.

Most actors are no strangers to the idea of the characters they play undergoing some sort of identity crisis. Chris Hemsworth knows all about that, having portrayed the Marvel superhero Thor during his most drastic on-screen transformation yet: the "Dude"-inspired deadbeat from "Avengers: Endgame." But, on the other hand, every performer's worst nightmare rears its ugly head when they themselves can't quite get a handle on the intricacies of the individual they're meant to play. Panic time.
Hemsworth found himself in exactly that unenviable position in the years leading up to filming for "Furiosa," writer/director George Miller's long-awaited prequel film to "Mad Max: Fury Road." Initially described only as playing "totally against type" in the role of the film's primary antagonist, it's little surprise that the "Thor" actor would feel a little out of his element under the guidance of the convention-defying Miller (although Hemsworth did play...

Anya Taylor-Joy has spoken about her experience shooting the forthcoming Mad Max spinoff, calling it “life-changing”.
The Queen’s Gambit star recently wrapped filming on the 2024 prequel film, Furiosa, in which she takes over for Charlize Theron as war captain Imperator Furiosa, opposite Chris Hemsworth.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly shortly after closing on production, Taylor-Joy admitted: “It will probably take me two years before it comes out to be able to digest what happened.
“I just finished it, so it’s a bit: wow. Life-changing. Longest shoot I’ve ever done, for sure, but with the most unbelievable crew, and I mean, what a character. I had her. We had each other.”
When asked if her The Menu co-star Nicholas Hoult – who starred in the franchise’s latest film, Mad Max: Fury Road – offered any helpful tips before she made her way into the desert to film, Taylor-Joy said: “He...
