Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer was an astounding success last year in the box office and this year during the awards season. The story was gripping, with some absolutely brilliant performances, and an equally fitting director who left no stone unturned to make a cinematic masterpiece.
Cillian Murphy in Oppenheimer
World War movies are sometimes a hit and miss, but this one completely knocked it out of the park. Oppenheimer was praised for its story, as well as execution, and has been a fan favorite for a while. And it looks like we will have another World War II drama in our hands soon.
Nuremberg Is a Oppenheimer and Man of Steel Crossover
Director James Vanderbilt is bringing the story of the Nuremberg trials to life, with a brilliant cast attached to the project. The movie is based on yet another book, this one being The Nazi and the Psychiatrist, Nuremberg by Jack El-Hai.

Post-wwii war crimes thriller Nuremberg boasts a strong leading trio and is set to seek backing at next month’s Cannes Film Festival.
While we don’t have too much on this story, there’s a report that a new project titled Nuremberg is to be revealed at next month’s Cannes Film Festival.
The film will be launching sales at Cannes to try and secure backing to give the film a green light and considering some of the acting talent signed up, we can’t imagine the producers walking away from the French film festival empty-handed.
But first, the set-up.
According to the synopsis (via Variety), ‘Nuremberg chronicles the eponymous trials held by the Allies against the defeated Nazi regime. The film will centre on American psychiatrist Douglas Kelley, who is tasked with determining whether Nazi prisoners are fit to stand trial for their war crimes, and finds himself...

Halloween Ends may have killed iconic slasher Michael Myers off on the big screen, but there’s really no stopping a successful horror franchise. Last October, Malek Akkad’s Trancas International Films secured a deal with Miramax Television to develop and co-produce a Halloween TV series… and one person who would be interested in working on the show is Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers director Dwight H. Little, who has racked up a lot of TV experience since his days of working on Halloween 4. There’s also another Halloween project Little would like to work on and has even pitched: a direct sequel to Halloween 4 that would see the return of Danielle Harris and Ellie Cornell as Jamie and her foster sister Rachel!

Dwight Little’s legacy falls into one of three categories: horror, action, and TV. From the horror couplet that is Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers and the Robert Englund-starring Phantom of the Opera to the action trilogy of Rapid Fire, Marked for Death, and Murder at 1600, as well as his TV work (The X-Files among his most-known projects), Little has managed to reinvent himself numerous times over his 30+ years career.
It’s not an easy task to stay relevant in an ever-evolving landscape, especially in the age of streaming, but Little’s instincts have always guided his creative hand. Almost all of the Best Actor winners at this century’s 22 Academy Awards ceremonies have ticked at least one of these two boxes: they were over 40 or portraying a real-life fellow. The only exceptions: Russell Crowe (“Gladiator”) and Jean Dujardin (“The Artist”) who were 36 and 39 respectively when they won for playing fictional characters.
In 2023, Brendan Fraser, 54, won for his heartbreaking performance in “The Whale.” The year before saw Will Smith, 53, prevail for portraying tennis coach Richard Williams in “King Richard.” In 2021, Anthony Hopkins became the oldest Best Actor champ ever at age 83 when he won for “The Father.” At the 2020 Oscars, Joaquin Phoenix was 45 when he picked up the Best Actor Oscar for “Joker.” And in 2019, 37-year-old Rami Malek (“Bohemian Rhapsody”) triumphed for his riveting portrayal of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury. Updated with latest: The two-year-old lawsuit between Bohemian Rhapsody writer Anthony McCarten and the producers of the Oscar-winning film is over.
On Halloween, lawyers for the two-time Oscar-nominated scribe filed “request for dismissal” paperwork in Los Angeles Superior Court. The document asks that McCarten’s November 2021 profits action against the Graham King-run Gk Films LLC and production company Wagw Inc. over the blockbuster biopic be dismissed “with prejudice.”
This ends for good the lawsuit in which McCarten sought to be paid the 5% of Gk’s profits he says he was promised for writing the Freddie Mercury film. No information on any settlement or other details were made public in the October 31 filing.
As Queen themselves once sang: “Easy come, easy go, little high, little low.”

Sam Esmail, the director of the Netflix post-apocalyptic film Leave the World Behind, spoke to Deadline Wednesday night on the red carpet at the film’s AFI Fest premiere.
Leave the World Behind, which starts streaming Dec. 8, stars Julia Roberts, Mahershala Ali, Ethan Hawke, Myha’la and Kevin Bacon in a thriller based on a novel by Rumaan Alam. In the film, a family’s vacation is upended when two strangers arrive at night, seeking refuge from a cyberattack that grows more terrifying by the minute, forcing everyone to come to terms with their places in a collapsing world.
Getting a great review from Esmail on their Leave the World Behind work were Barack and Michelle Obama, who produced the film for Netflix.
“They worked from top to bottom on this movie, from crafts to production to post,” Esmail said. “And, you know, look, it’s a dream working with these guys.

The pair publicly confirmed their romance on a dog walk in London, U.K. on Thursday, with them being snapped kissing in photos published by the Daily Mail.
According to the publication, onlookers said the actors looked “blissfully happy and in love,” and “weren’t trying to be discreet or hide their relationship at all.”
Corrin, 27, showed off their recent buzz cut during the outing, donning a long beige trench coat and baggy jeans.
Malek, 42, on the other hand, also donned a casual ensemble wearing jeans and a black sweater, that he teamed with a blue baseball cap.

"Need for Speed" tends to get unceremoniously left out of the conversation about video game movies. Released in 2014, the film debuted at the height of Aaron Paul's post-"Breaking Bad" fame. Paul stars as Tobey Marshall, a former race car driver turned working-class mechanic from New York whose friend is killed by Tobey's wealthy rival Dino Brewster (Dominic Cooper) during an illegal street race -- a crime that Tobey is wrongly arrested and convicted for. Upon his release from prison, Tobey sets out to defeat Dino in a San Francisco race. However, for reasons that are too complicated to get into here, he must do so by first driving across the country in a rare Mustang he helped restore in less than 48 hours. Also, Imogen Poots is riding shotgun with him.

Have you ever noticed Optimus Prime in Michael Bay's "Transformers" films isn't really all that heroic? To be fair, he doesn't start that way in Bay's original 2007 "Transformers" film. There, he tries to keep the fights between the Autobots and Decepticons away from densely-populated areas and, when that's not possible, makes an active effort to minimize casualties. Optimus even implores Sam Witwicky (Shia Labeouf) to place the AllSpark (ie. the film's MacGuffin) in his chest during the climax, knowing it will kill him but will also prevent his arch-nemesis Megatron and the other Decepticons from wreaking havoc on the universe.
Of course, Sam sticks the AllSpark in Megatron's chest to kill him instead, and Optimus and the Autobots return in the 2009 sequel, "Revenge of the Fallen," now working with humanity to hunt down the remaining Decepticons. By this point, however, Optimus has basically morphed into Judge Dredd, anointing himself judge,...

Rami Malek is circling his next lead role in the thriller "Amateur" from 20th Century Studios. Deadline reports that James Hawes — who directed all six episodes of the first season of "Slow Horses," the Gary Oldman-led Apple TV+ series — has also boarded the project. Right now, it's still in the development stages, with Malek in line to executive produce alongside Hutch Parker and Dan Wilson.
The plot of "Amateur" reportedly "follows a CIA cryptographer who, after his wife is tragically killed in a London terrorist attack, demands his bosses go after them." The CIA isn't having any of that, and "when it becomes clear they won't act due to conflicting internal priorities," the cryptographer takes matters into his own hands and "blackmails the agency into training him."

Rami Malek will star in the 20th Century Studios thriller “Amateur.” The picture, sources affirm, is in development.
Set to be directed by James Hawes, “Amateur” concerns a CIA cryptographer who loses his wife in a London terrorist attack. After his bosses refuse to take direct action, he blackmails his own agency into training him to allow himself to do the job himself.
Malek, who got his start in a small role in “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb,” burst onto the scene in USA Network’s buzzy conspiracy thriller “Mr. Robot.” He also played Freddie Mercury in Bryan Singer’s controversial but incredibly successful musical biopic, winning the Best Actor Oscar for the 905 million-grossing blockbuster. He has since starred in films like “Amsterdam” and “The Little Things” along with playing the prime bad guy in the most recent 007 movie, “No Time to Die.”

When we last saw Rami Malek in spy thriller territory, he was very much the villain, threatening Daniel Craig's 007 and the world in general in No Time To Die. But for a potential future film, he could be on the other side other moral spectrum, albeit with a vengeful bent. Malek is attached to star in The Amateur, which has Slow Horses director James Hawes also aboard.
Gary Spinelli wrote the most recent draft of the script, which follows a CIA cryptographer, who after his wife is tragically killed in a London terrorist attack, demands his bosses go after them. When it becomes clear they won’t act due to conflicting internal priorities, he blackmails the agency into training him and letting him go after them himself.
Malek will next be seen in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer and is aboard a miniseries about the life and career of Buster Keaton.

Three decades ago, Christian Slater met Val Kilmer on the set of True Romance, the Quentin Tarantino-penned, Tony Scott-directed crime thriller. Slater played Clarence Worley, an Elvis Presley fanatic, while Kilmer portrayed the Mentor, an Elvis-like figment of Clarence’s imagination. Slater and Kilmer, who first made their names in the 1980s, would go on to work together another three times in the early 2000s, making their latest connection on Jonathan Kasdan’s Willow (2022) sequel series all the more fitting.
With Covid-19 restrictions preventing Kilmer from reprising his beloved rogue swordsman, Madmartigan, from Ron Howard’s 1988 film, Kasdan knew he needed another wildcard-type character that could bring a similar energy. So he created Allagash, a former knight and running mate of Madmartigan, and the first person he thought of for the role was Slater.

Matt Reeves is swapping Batman for Buster Keaton.
The “Batman” director is set to helm a limited series based on the life of actor Buster Keaton, with Rami Malek transforming into the silent film star. Reeves will also produce the series through his 6th and Idaho Productions production banner under an overall deal at Warner Bros. TV.
Malek and David Weddle are confirmed to also produce; Ted Cohen is in talks to serve as executive producer and writer. The upcoming series is expected to use James Curtis’ biography “Buster Keaton: A Filmmaker’s Life” as source material as Warner Bros. is negotiating the rights for the 2022 book.
Vaudeville actor Keaton made his onscreen debut in silent comedy “The Butcher Boy” and went on to collaborate with Douglas Fairbanks, Joseph M. Schenck, and Edward F. Cline, among others. Keaton eventually formed an eponymous production company and began directing films like “Sherlock Jr.

Finally, we have some news on that Matt Reeves project for Warner Brothers. No, wait, not that one. Last week, Reeves did reveal that he's working on a script for the sequel to "The Batman," but news has just broken about a different -- albeit still star-studded -- project the filmmaker has lined up with the studio. According to Deadline, Reeves is set to produce and direct a limited series about the life and career of famed silent film star Buster Keaton. What's more, "Mr. Robot" star and Oscar-winner Rami Malek is apparently in talks to play the lead role.
The as-yet-untitled Buster Keaton series is still in development, and the outlet reports it's expected to be shopped around soon in hopes of finding a streaming or network home. The project comes via Reeves' company 6th & Idaho Productions, which signed an overall deal with Warner Bros. last summer. The...
