"The Acolyte" is unique among "Star Wars" titles. It is a murder mystery that shakes the entire Jedi Order, set in a refreshing and brand new age in the history of the galaxy that both adds to and comments on the prequels and its portrayal of the Jedi as a corrupt institution. The show also brings in an inventive perspective to "Star Wars" action, with fantastic wuxia-inspired choreography that makes the fight scenes feel like nothing else in the franchise. Plus, making Jedi less impulsive to just take out their lightsabers at the first chance is fascinating.
But that's not the most surprising thing about the show. The biggest surprise comes in the premiere episode, when it is revealed that the assassin that murdered Carrie-Anne Moss' Master Indara is actually the twin sister of our protagonist, the former Jedi Osha. Twins are nothing new in the galaxy far, far away of course.

Warning: The following review contains spoilers from the first two episodes of Disney+/Lucasfilm’s series The Acolyte which drop tonight at 6Pm Pt.
It’s a 100 years before the events of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, essentially the whip and buggy days of the Jedi order, where there’s no such thing as light and dark side yet, not even the Sith.
But there’s a great disturbance in the force in the new Star Wars Disney+ series The Acolyte in which Amandla Stenberg’s Mae, a masked jedi who is going around picking fights with (what will be) four good-spirited jedis, i.e. we open on Carrie Anne Moss’ sage Indara getting offed by Mae “to please the master.” That’s an upsetting kill as Moss is in perfect acrobatic shape in a nod to her high-wire Matrix days. Mae slays Indara not with a lightsaber, but rather with little spears.

Since Disney revived “Star Wars” in 2015 with J.J. Abrams’ “The Force Awakens,” the strongest entries in the franchise have had one trait in common. Rian Johnson’s “The Last Jedi” and Tony Gilroy’s “Andor” both opted to take the franchise in bold new directions, opening up exciting new possibilities for what a “Star Wars” story could be. “The Last Jedi” steered the core narrative away from the Skywalker family, implying that anyone could become a Jedi and, therefore, a hero. “Andor” used familiar settings as the backdrop for an adult political drama about rebellion and imperial administration, rejecting heroes entirely in favor of the individuals who make up mass movements. Fans may not always have seen them as such — “The Last Jedi” faced an infamous fan backlash, while “Andor” Season 1 paled in viewership to the likes of “The Mandalorian” — but these projects offered a lifeline to a saga...

Harrison Ford played the role of Han Solo in George Lucas’ Star Wars. The actor had played a supporting role in Lucas’ debut American Graffiti and was selected to play the wise-cracking intergalactic bounty hunter. Ford reprised his role in the second and third episodes of the original trilogy and the first film in the sequel trilogy.
Ford has expressed his disdain for the role multiple times over the years despite receiving worldwide recognition for the global phenomenon. The actor also reportedly tried to cut short his tenure early by having Solo killed off in The Empire Strikes Back. However, even he admitted that watching the film for the first time was a whole new experience.

One of the most memorable traits of the roguish Han Solo is just how lucky he is. Depending on which version of "Star Wars: Episode IV -- A New Hope" you watched, this guy somehow managed to avoid getting shot by a bounty hunter despite being mere feet away from the guy either before or after they yelled "Maclunkey!" at him. He also spent years fleeing from the evil space gangster Jabba the Hutt -- and when Jabba did finally catch him, Han had already made friends with a powerful young Jedi who could rescue him not long after.
Even on a meta level, Han's a lucky guy. Harrison Ford thought Han should've died in "Return of the Jedi" to lend some "gravitas and emotional weight" to the third film, and I don't think he was wrong: "Return of the Jedi" was a little too cutesy of a follow-up to...

Star Wars is a unique franchise in many ways, but perhaps its most phenomenal achievement is that it consists of countless elements that look like they just can’t work — and still, combined, they result in the most celebrated sci-fi saga in history. From weird alien races to high fantasy elements in a sci-fi setting to hairstyles, Star Wars makes the most questionable choices work, and here’s yet another example.
Carrie Fisher Hated Her Leia Hairstyle
Famous for portraying Princess Leia in the Star Wars movies, Carrie Fisher apparently didn’t like her hairstyle one bit at first.
According to Fisher’s best friend Griffin Dunne — or rather, his upcoming book, The Friday Afternoon Club: A Family Memoir — she was extremely frustrated with the way she looked in the movie.
“Carrie grew anxious as the release date for Star Wars — May 25, 1977 — neared. ‘You should see what they did to my hair!

Keanu Reeves has been entertaining audiences since the 90s with groundbreaking action films that have redefined the genre. Films like Point Break, The Matrix, and the John Wick franchises have become milestones in the genre. Additionally, Reeves is a fan of cinema in general and Star Wars has been a seminal franchise for the actor like many during the time of the original trilogy.

Reeves was also let down by the film as he had huge expectations from it but it didn’t deliver in the way that he hoped.

Star Wars: A New Hope opened with Darth Vader confronting the ever-crafty Leia Organa about Death Star plans that were smuggled to the rebellion. Not knowing how the rebel spies found the data at the time, the scene was genuinely terrifying, given the context. Who could have imagined that the fiery on-screen chemistry between Princess Leia and Han Solo, portrayed by the legendary Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford, would leap off the silver screen and blossom into a real-life romance? Indeed, the revelation of their affair was a breathtaking twist worthy of a Hollywood epic, capturing the imaginations of both Star Wars fans and cinephiles.
Alas, their brief affair was marred by more sadness than romance. Despite its complexity, this slice of trivia never fails to stir the pot of fan discussions, especially considering their shared time on the set of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. However, instead of chatting about themselves & their own story, they talked about another romantic couple on the set.

Since Disney has taken over “Star Wars,” there has been a narrative that women were not important to the George Lucas films or were not fans because it was a “male brand.” While “Star Wars” does tend to be a male-skewing audience, women have always been fans, and women have been in “Star Wars” since the beginning.
Now, George Lucas has said that not only were women important to his “Star Wars” films, but they were often the unsung heroes of the movies. He also calls out the recent idea that to be a hero, one needs to act and dress like a man.

Kathleen Kennedy Says Women Who Make ‘Star Wars’ Franchise Installments ‘Struggle’ with Male Fanbase
Even Lucasfilm CEO Kathleen Kennedy is aware of the gendered bias surrounding “Star Wars” fans.
During an interview with the New York Times for upcoming Disney+ series “The Acolyte,” Kennedy admitted that female filmmakers “struggle” with fan backlash to their respective film and TV franchise installments. Leslye Headland is the showrunner for “The Acolyte.”
“Operating within these giant franchises now, with social media and the level of expectation — it’s terrifying,” Kennedy said. “I think Leslye has struggled a little bit with it. I think a lot of the women who step into ‘Star Wars’ struggle with this a bit more. Because of the fan base being so male-dominated, they sometimes get attacked in ways that can be quite personal.”

Carrie Fisher fell ill in December 2016 after collapsing shortly before her flight from London landed in Los Angeles. The Star Wars icon suffered a cardiac arrest and, after spending four days in intensive care, died at the age of 60 in hospital.
A coroner's report later found that Fisher had cocaine in her system, as well as traces of heroin, other opiates, and Mdma. However, it was unable to determine whether those contributed to her death.
The actress spent years struggling with substance abuse issues and Fisher's close friend and singer James Blunt has claimed Disney and Lucasfilm had put "pressure on her to be thin."
He and Fisher formed an unlikely friendship in the early 2000s and wrote his first album, 2004's "Back to Bedlam," while staying in her house. Following her death, he performed a tribute to the actress which we've embedded below in case you're curious.

Musician James Blunt recently said at the Hay Festival in Wales (via People) that his close friend Carrie Fisher faced tremendous pressure to be thin for “Star Wars” when she reprised her iconic role of Princess Leia in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” Fisher previously told Good Housekeeping U.K. in 2015 shortly before “The Force Awakens” opened in theaters that she lost 35 pounds for the movie. She died one year later in December 2016 after going into cardiac arrest while flying from London to Los Angeles.
“She’d been really mistreating her body, and she’d just got the job again of being Princess Leia in a new ‘Star Wars’ movie,” said Blunt at the arts festival, where he was speaking about his memoir, “Loosely Based on a Made-Up Story.”

TLC’s Seeking Sister Wife follows people who are pursuing – or attempting to pursue – a polygamous lifestyle. Over five seasons, viewers have watched as cast members navigate the complicated business of having multiple partners. Some relationships work, while others crash and burn. But what happens when the cameras go away? Here’s where things stand with the cast in May 2024.
Dannielle and Garrick Merrifield
Dannielle and Garrick’s relationship with potential sister wife Roberta fell apart in season 4, but that didn’t put the Colorado couple off the idea of polygamy. In season 5, Garrick pursued a new romance with a Brazilian woman named Nathalia. But just as Garrick was preparing to legally marry Nathalia so that he could bring her to the U.S., life threw him a curveball. Dannielle was unexpectedly pregnant with their third child.
Dannielle and Garrick’s daughter Leia was born in May 2023. The couple are still living in Colorado.

Abrams’ 2019 flick, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the legacy of the Skywalker lineage lives on in a new and powerful way.

When “Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace” debuted on May 19, 1999, few movies before (or since) were greeted with more fevered anticipation. Not only was the movie the first new “Star Wars” movie in a generation, but it was touted as the first of a prequel trilogy charting the tragedy of Anakin Skywalker, the Jedi Knight fated to turn to the dark side as Darth Vader.
Despite the breathless build up, by the end of that summer, the near-universal consensus was that “The Phantom Menace” was, at best, a colossal disappointment and, at worst, a calamitous embarrassment. Some blamed the decision by George Lucas — directing for the first time since 1977’s “A New Hope” — to start the story with a precocious 9-year-old Anakin (Jake Lloyd). Others railed against the slapstick antics and pidgin English of Jar Jar Binks (Ahmed Best), hyped as the first-ever CG main character in a live-action movie.

The Star Wars prequel trilogy revolutionized the film industry with its introduction of more CGI visual effects and digital photography. The second episode of the trilogy Episode II – Attack of the Clones was one of the first films to be completely shot digitally as opposed to film, leading Hollywood into the digital age of filmmaking.
The films starred Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, Ewan McGregor, and Natalie Portman in lead roles. The film was one of Portman’s earliest roles where she played the role of Padmé Amidala. She reprised the role in all three films and reportedly had a tough time acting for the blue and green screens present on set.

5 Sexiest Characters in Star Wars Sequel Trilogy - Main Image
Just when we thought that Star Wars trilogies were over after the release of Episode VII – Revenge of the Sith in 2005, Lucasfilm once again brought the story of the galaxy far, far away to life with the sequel trilogy. But aside from its intricate storylines and fascinating lore, another thing that caught the viewers' eyes was its characters’ incredible charm and allure.

Because 90% of the movie franchises today are based on material from generations before, most big movies have mastered the art of the cameo. Since the 2010s particularly, they've gotten even better at incorporating legacy characters into the narrative, even if the movie technically isn't about them. "The Force Awakens" might've been all about introducing Rey/Finn/Poe to lead this new sequel trilogy, but they still gave Leia and Han enough screen time to "pass the torch" to the new generation.
This wasn't just a quick way to score some easy nostalgia points; it also assured the more fickle viewers in the audience that this new trilogy had plenty of respect for the original trilogy, that it wasn't going to stomp all over everyone's childhoods the way some fans feared. From "Scream" to "Jurassic Park" to "Ghostbusters," it feels like the safest way to start off a new string of...

And, surprisingly enough, this worked so terrifically that even the internet couldn’t spoil this mystery!

Movie fans love to discover behind-the-scenes tidbits about their favorite films, and there are few movie facts more exciting than an improvised line or scene. Stories of improvisation remind us that filmmaking is a collaborative, creative process, and that sometimes the most unexpected ideas make the biggest impact.
Writers and directors lay the foundation and set the scene, while it's up to actors to make the characters their own. Take one of the most classic lines in "The Godfather," a perfect example of improvisation upon a strong foundation. The phrase "leave the gun," was written in the script, but actor Richard Castellano added the line "take the cannoli," turning it into the iconic catchphrase it is today. Clearly, Francis Ford Coppola's decision to keep that ad-lib in the final cut was the right one.
