As an encore to her first Emmy nomination for “Hacks” in Season 2, guest star Kaitlin Olson hit the jackpot in Season 3: “The Roast of Deborah Vance,” the first of three episodes in which Olson appears as DJ, the emotionally stunted daughter of famed comedian Deborah Vance (Jean Smart). In the episode, DJ relishes her opportunity to roast her comedian mother during a televised event, including zinging Deborah with a profane and immediately resonant catchphrase: “What a c–t.”
“I just couldn’t wait. I was counting down the days to do it. I was so excited,” Olson tells Gold Derby in an exclusive video interview when asked about the episode. “It’s just so good. It’s got everything. DJ is such a mess and she’s so vulnerable and making stupid decisions that she’s 100 percent standing by – and then she’s also correct in her assessment of the situation.

Here's a really strange random fact about me: I grew up with emetophobia, the intense fear of vomit and vomiting. The very idea of blowing chunks got my anxiety going, which is what makes my deep, abiding love for "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" kind of hilarious. You see, there is a lot of vomiting, gagging, and spitting up on "It's Always Sunny." There are some amazing puke-filled moments, of course, like Charlie (Charlie Day) spewing all over his date because he swallowed fake blood capsules, or Dennis (Glenn Howerton) barfing while dancing because he did a bunch of shots rapid-fire. It turns out that in the right circumstances, vomit can be really funny, and in the case of "It's Always Sunny," the funniest yakking usually comes courtesy of Sweet Dee, played by Kaitlin Olson.

Everyone loves a good bottle episode, which is when the characters of a TV show spend the entire episode (or almost the entire episode) in one setting. The practical point of this is to save money, and perhaps used that saved money to help make another episode that's expected to be way more expensive. But what about when a show seems to be doing a bottle episode, only to throw the premise upside down and give us something that looks even more expensive than a typical episode? Such was the case with "The Gang Saves the Day," the season 9 episode of "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" that technically takes place entirely in a convenience store. The gang finds themselves witnessing a burglary, and they spend the entire story trying to figure out how to handle this.
From the first scene, you'd think it'd be easy to imagine how this will all play out.

Did you ever wonder what your favorite stars did before they were famous?
Although there are a few rare exceptions, most celebrities did not start as stars. They had standard jobs just like the rest of us.
Some even had extremely unusual jobs. Here are eleven examples.
Harrison Ford Was a Carpenter
You would be hard-pressed to find a person alive who doesn't know who Harrison Ford is.
The iconic actor starred in some of the most popular films ever, including the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises.
The star of 1923 and Shrinking turned 81 on July 13, 2024, but he seems to have no intention of slowing down. That's no surprise since he has been a hard worker for his entire life.

Ryan Reynolds just confirmed another cameo in Deadpool 3 during the latest episode of Welcome to Wrexham. Reynolds’ Wrexham AFC co-chairman and actor, Rob McElhenney, landed a cameo role in the film. His visit to the set in London was documented in the series, however, most of the footage was heavily censored or blurred.

Movie writers and long-term collaborators D.B. Weiss and David Benioff are arguably most known for their work on HBO’s Game of Thrones. However, the two have worked on a range of other extremely popular projects, such as It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, 3 Body Problem, and Leslie Jones: Time Machine.
The two almost added to this list a new Star Wars trilogy that they almost took up back in 2019. In an interview earlier this year, Weiss and Benioff revealed exactly what led to the cancellation of the project, which they ironically wanted to title The Last Jedi.

Everyone knows that comedy can be socially dangerous, but what about when it's actually dangerous to a person's health? Physical comedy can require actors to put their bodies on the line in the name of laughs, and that means sometimes a comedian has to know when to take a step back and let a stunt person take the fall instead. After all, aside from maybe Johnny Knoxville, the most adept comedy stars still aren't trained in stunt work and could really hurt themselves. On the long-running FX sitcom series, "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," there have been plenty of opportunities for the stars to show off their physical comedy chops and potentially put themselves in harm's way, but there was at least one stunt that was just way too much for septuagenarian actor Danny DeVito.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia may not return to television for a little while, but the gang is gearing up to get back to work on the forthcoming 17th season at FX, and TV Insider got the scoop from stars Danny DeVito and Kaitlin Olson, who were on the Disney Upfront red carpet in New York City on May 14. “We’re very excited about Season 17,” DeVito gushes. The actor plays the chaotic father figure Frank Reynolds to the ragtag crew working at Paddy’s Pub. “I love working with these guys, Charlie [Day] and Glenn [Howerton] and Rob [McElhenney] and Kaitlin,” he adds, joking in the manner his character would that “[There’s] the guys, and then there’s the woman and they’re my kids. They’re like my kids and I love going to work.” Patrick McElhenney/FX While they couldn’t share much, Olson, who plays Dee “Sweet Dee” Reynolds, says,...

"Teen Titans Go!" is a bit of a controversial cartoon among fans, as it is a much more comedic, kid-friendly version of the 2003 "Teen Titans" cartoon (which was darker and more anime-inspired). Some fans see "Teen Titans Go!" as representative of the uber-commercialization of art, a cash-grab of a show with none of the heart of the original. Of course, to think that would be to ignore one of the most subversive, hilarious, and most of all, bizarre superhero animated shows to date.
Then there's the movie, which gave us some of the best moments in a DC film (like Robin enthusiastically pushing Thomas and Martha Wayne into Crime Alley so Batman can exist), but also the TV show itself which stands alongside "Regular Show" and "Flapjack" as often breaking Cartoon Network's "no weird" rule. There are episodes where Robin teaches the Titans about equity, pyramid schemes, and even the IRS.

When Lee Sung Jin’s limited series Beef wrapped production back in 2022, the cast and crew were so happy with the profound camaraderie they’d developed that they’ve attempted to meet for dinner at least once a week ever since — some irony for a story originally borne out of anger and resentment.
Some time ago, pre-Beef, Lee found himself angrily tailing a driver in a road rage incident for nearly an hour. When he happened to tell Ravi Nandan, A24’s head of television, about this moment of madness, Nandan suggested Lee might expand on it. Was there more story to tell?
The complex and personal stories behind two strangers clashing with such vitriol eventually evolved into Lee’s limited series. At turns hilarious and disturbing, it follows the lives of Amy (Ali Wong) and Danny (Steven Yeun) as they enter into an intense feud that is, in truth,...

One thing that becomes clear, as you make your way through sixteen seasons of "Always Sunny," is that the gang is awfully resilient. Not only are they all severe alcoholics who otherwise don't seem to have any health problems, but they're constantly falling into things and getting the s**t kicked out of them, only to be back to normal by the start of the next episode. When one YouTuber made a compilation of the gang's injuries last year, the video was over 12 minutes long:
For Danny DeVito, who plays the show's wise and dependable father figure Frank, one of his favorite moments from filming "Always Sunny" came in season 11's "Frank Falls Out The Window." In the episode's very first scene, Frank falls out of his and Charlie's apartment and gets a giant gash on the back of his head. We don't see him hitting the ground, but the aftermath doesn't look pretty.

It takes a certain caliber of actors to move seamlessly through the entertainment industry and make just enough waves while avoiding the pitfalls.
That's what Jennifer Morrison has managed to do in almost 30 years of her career.
While the actress has primarily stayed in the television lane, she's been in her fair share of films.
However, after her unforgettable role as Emma Swan, Morrison has taken up a directorial hat and is now working behind the scenes.
Don't worry, though, because we have compiled a list of some of the actress's most prolific work.
Also, for those inclined to IMDb, be sure to check out the cast list of a specific slasher entry on the list.
It's technically the only slasher movie here, but you'll still see some big names.
The actor has rubbed elbows with some of Hollywood's biggest names, so don't be surprised if you recognize her from some big-budget films and franchises.

"Vanishing Point" isn't exactly a mainstream classic, but for a portion of moviegoers who like to see cars go fast and people do drugs, it's pretty much unmissable. Based on that description alone, it makes sense that the cult film's audience grew when it was directly referenced in Quentin Tarantino's 2007 road slasher film "Death Proof." Other directors who are major fans of the film include Edgar Wright and Steven Spielberg, who once told Entertainment Weekly it was one of his favorite movies.

The theme of Disney’s 2024 upfront presentation to advertisers Tuesday was “connections” — and not just because of the running bit started by “Deadpool” star Ryan Reynolds and “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” star Rob McElhenney, which involved their constant replaying of a five-second ad spot that said “Connections!” with a Disneyified logo and voiceover.

While promoting the new Garfield animated pic, Chris Pratt briefly touched on his past performance as the princess-saving Brooklyn plumber, Mario.
Despite receiving negative reviews from critics, the 2023 animated Super Mario Bros. Movie was an unexpected blockbuster, as it went on to set the record for biggest global opening for an animated movie.
After everything was said and done, the movie made $1.362 billion globally on a meager $100 million production budget. That feat made The Super Mario Bros. Movie the most financially successful film of 2023, according to Deadline Hollywood.

Ahead of Fox’s premiere of the animated series Universal Basic Guys, the network has given the comedy an early Season 2 renewal. Season 1 is set to premiere in the 2024-25 season.
From creators Adam and Craig Malamut, Universal Basic Guys follows brothers, Mark and Hank Hoagies, who lose their jobs to automation and are given $3k a month in a new basic income program. Now, they’re using their free time and free money to find purpose in a world where they’re no longer needed.
Universal Basic Guys was picked up by the network in late 2022. It will join other Fox comedies including the Jon Hamm-led Grimsburg, Dan Harmon’s Krapopolis, as well as the long-running titles The Simpsons, Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers. Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman don’t need to live together to make their marriage work. In fact, even though they have lived separately for years they are seemingly closer than ever. The It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia actor opened up the couple’s unconventional marriage in an interview with Fox News Digital, where he was promoting his new comedy film Poolman, which opens in theaters today, Friday, May 10. “We’re doing great,” DeVito said of his relationship with his former Taxi co-star. “We’re sharing our granddaughter, our new granddaughter, and we see each other all the time.” DeVito and Perlman, who played boyfriend and girlfriend in Taxi and married parents in 1996’s Matilda, tied the knot in 1982. They went on to have three children: Lucy Chet DeVito, Grace Fan DeVito (born March 1985), and Jacob Daniel DeVito (born October 1987). They are also grandparents to Sinclair Lucille DeVito, who turned one back in March.

As of the end of season 16, there are 162 episodes of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," and the vast majority of them are great. There are a couple of stinkers like the almost universally reviled "Frank's Brother" or the overly nihilistic "Charlie and Dee Find Love," but for the most part, "Sunny" is fantastic. That's what makes trying to select a favorite episode so difficult, not only for fans but also for the people who make the long-running show. It's tough to pick a favorite when there are so many truly terrific episodes, but series creator and star Rob McElhenney somehow managed, and it's an episode that gave one star a real head injury.
In an Fxx promo interview with the cast for season 13 of the series, McElhenney was asked about his very favorite scene in the show and he brought up an infamous moment in the season 4 episode "Who Pooped the Bed?...

Fans could potentially spend hours arguing about the worst things the gang on "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" have done over the course of 16 seasons. They have locked their enemies in a burning apartment, willfully manipulated members of the opposite sex, intentionally gotten addicted to drugs in order to try and scam the welfare system, and much morel. It's also pretty easy to argue about which member of the gang is the worst human being because they're all pretty monstrous. But there is one truly horrible thing, according to star Glenn Howerton, that his character Dennis hasn't done.
That might sound impossible, seeing as Dennis is among the gang's worst when it comes to being misanthropic (though Howerton had argued that Dennis isn't a psychopath). Still, there actually is a terrible, awful thing that Dennis has spoken about a few times but hasn't done, at least not in any episodes of "It's Always Sunny" itself.

The "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" gang has been at fault for quite a few deaths over the years -- from a guy shooting himself in a Russian Roulette game arranged by Frank, to Mac and Dee letting a kid drown at a water park. If you count animals, Charlie's got the highest body count in the gang, as he's murdered not just the many men rats in Paddy's Pub, but the women and children rats too. Then again, the implied horrors that went on in Frank's old sweatshop might put Charlie's rat genocide to shame.
But for Glenn Howerton, who plays the psychopathic Dennis Reynolds, one of the deaths that haunts him was only kind of the gang's fault. In a 2017 interview he talked about how he regretted killing off Roxy (Alanna Ubach), a successful yet unstable sex worker whom Frank tries to marry in season 7. She unexpectedly...

Welcome To Wrexham has everything; Hollywood stars, a working class town in Wales searching for glory on the pitch, a sweary manager. We take a closer look at TV’s best docuseries.
Nb: The following contains mild spoilers for Wrexham AFC’s current season.
If you’re not watching Welcome To Wrexham, you’re truly missing out. Granted, it’s not exactly Game Of Thrones, but it might be one of the best things on telly currently. I’ve always found it difficult to tune into documentaries and docuseries, but Welcome To Wrexham has become a weekly tradition during its two previous seasons and the third season looks to be just as addictive and heartwarming.
I hate football, which is why I never imagined I would enjoy Welcome To Wrexham. The series follows the titular Welsh football club after Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds bought it in 2020. The club has a passionate,...

After helping to transform a soccer team and a town in Wales, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have set their sights on central Mexico as the next spot to invest in a beloved local sports franchise.
Reynolds and McElhenney have purchased a stake in Club Necaxa, the century-old Mexican soccer club that also counts Eva Longoria among its owners. The pair will work with Longoria and fellow investors Al Tylis and Sam Porter to enhance Club Necaxa’s standing and grow its profile in international sports circles at a time of heightened TV and streaming demand for soccer content. It’s understood that Longoria, the Mexican American multihyphenate, helped bring Reynolds and McElhenney into the investor group.

What’s the deal with being politically correct? Comedian Jerry Seinfeld is once again going after PC and woke culture, saying they are responsible for the demise of the American sitcom.
On a recent episode of The New Yorker Radio Hour, Jerry Seinfeld said that while there is always a hunger for good comedy, the sitcom has suffered greatly because people – both those making the decisions and tuning in every week – are too easily offended. “Nothing really affects comedy. People always need it. They need it so badly and they don’t get it. Used to be you would go home at the end of the day, most people would go, “Oh, Cheers is on. Oh, M.A.S.H. Is on. Oh, Mary Tyler Moore is on. Oh, All in the Family‘s on. You just expected, ‘There’ll be some funny stuff we can watch on TV tonight.’ Well, guess what?...

I have enjoyed watching Charlie Day in movies like Horrible Bosses and its sequel, Fist Fight, Vacation, and others. I like his screen presence and find his comedic performances to be very amusing… and yet I still haven’t gotten around to watching a single episode of his sitcom It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, which is currently sixteen seasons deep. I’m going to check that show out one of these days. In the meantime, Deadline reports that Day is set to star in a murder mystery called Kill Me, and he’s being joined in the cast by Allison Williams of Get Out, M3GAN, and Girls.
Written and directed by Peter Warren (The Auteur), Kill Me will see Day taking on the role of Jimmy, who wakes up in a bathtub after having tried to kill himself. Or, at least, that’s what it looks like to his friends and family.

"It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" is a series that poses some pretty wild questions to its audience. Is the Nightman based on Charlie's super creepy pedophile uncle Jack? Is Dennis (Glenn Howerton) secretly a serial killer? Is Paddy's Pub only able to stay open because of Frank's (Danny DeVito) deep pockets? There are a million different questions fans can ask themselves while watching the series, but there's one question that Howerton has said really drives the show on a conceptual level. In the "The Always Sunny Podcast" episode where the podcast gang discussed "Dennis Reynolds: An Erotic Life," Howerton said there's a question the series is "constantly answering," and he's spot-on in his assessment — I've certainly thought it while watching!
The characters on "It's Always Sunny" are some truly terrible people (even if the show is so much more than that) and they get up to some ridiculous antics, which...

Like many sitcoms, "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" follows a group of friends initially grouped by their workplace (and family ties) who have become bound by their long history of antics with one another. Unlike most sitcoms, the gang on "Always Sunny" really does not act like they care about one another pretty much at all. Sure, characters on shows like "Seinfeld" and "How I Met Your Mother" are frequently snarky with one another, but they generally have one another's backs when things get tough. In the original pilot for "Sunny" that eventually became the season 1 episode "Charlie Has Cancer," Dennis (Glenn Howerton) visits his friend Charlie (Charlie Day) to borrow a basketball, only for Charlie to tell him that he has cancer, which makes Dennis do everything he can to leave without having to really help Charlie or deal with his discomfort in any way. It's brutal and brutally...

Jerry Seinfeld is one of the most distinguished standup comics and has been active since the late ‘70s. The actor-writer is known for his timeless sitcom Seinfeld, which is often considered to be one of the greatest comedies on TV. The show ran for nine seasons and has often been regarded as the defining sitcom of the era.
While many sitcoms have been aired since then, few have come close to the popularity and pop cultural impact Seinfeld had. The show is still loved by audiences with its signature theme being parodied and referenced on multiple occasions. “Parks and Recreation” debuted April 9, 2009, just three months after Barack Obama’s inauguration. A perfect alignment, one might think, considering how much the NBC sitcom embodied the 44’s “Yes we can” spirit. However, the tone of its much-neglected, much-derided first season was more akin to the Bush era: cynical, polarizing, and slightly clueless.
Subsequently, its opening six episodes have largely been consigned to history: the general advice to newcomers is skip them entirely and start with the sunnier second season. But while the show undoubtedly benefited from its course correction, its initial glimpse into the fictional Pawnee’s madcap P&r department isn’t the disaster often purported.
Much of the criticism inevitably focused on its similarities to “The Office.” The show was conceived as a spin-off from the corporate satire after all, and shares a creator (Greg Daniels), cast member (Rashida Jones), and mockumentary format. Its premiere was even...

In 2014, Glenn Howerton took part in an Ask Me Anything (Ama) session on Reddit, mostly answering questions about "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia." One of the questions from user cujoman2004 was, "If you could have anyone make a guest appearance on 'Always Sunny,' who would it be and for what purpose would you want this person to do?" Howerton responded:
"Al Pacino. Just to have him like, scream at me for five straight minutes. And then wander out of the bar after realizing he was screaming at the wrong person."
While there have been many fabulous guest stars on "Always Sunny," including Bryan Cranston, Guillermo del Toro, and Josh Groban, having an actor of Al Pacino's stature would be truly unforgettable, especially in a show that is so off-the-wall. But Pacino is not afraid to go wild and weird. He's flourished in many comedies, from the lighthearted, family-friendly affair "Author!

Disney merged with Fox in 2019. Since then, most of the more adult-oriented Fox shows and movies went onto Hulu while the more family-friendly offerings went onto Disney+. However, more recently, the streaming service merged with Hulu, and people subscribed to both can see everything on the app. This means there are some shows available that some parents remain concerned with.
One of the more controversial additions has shown up on the main screen as an option to advertise the Hulu merging, and parents are protesting.

Movies like Alien and TV shows like Archer and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia found a home on Hulu. Now, fans can see these shows, and more, on the Disney+ streaming service.

Stephen Falk’s Fxx underrated comedy “You’re the Worst,” which ran from 2014 to 2019, is a rom-com at heart … and it’s also raunchy, mean, deeply strange, and even off-putting at times. It’s a show where the central couple, Gretchen Cutler and Jimmy Shive-Overly — Aya Cash and Chris Geere in roles they were seemingly born to play — first meet at a wedding where Jimmy just got kicked out and Gretchen is stealing a gift. Both of their characters are established in their very first interaction. Gretchen asks Jimmy for a cigarette, and he’s irritated because they’re “expensive.” The incredulous yet brazen way Cash looks at Geere in response is the blueprint for Gretchen and Jimmy’s dynamic going forward.
