Kindred (2020)
A fairly interesting ride to nowhere
I have liked Fiona Shaw's work and thought that I would look at this picture as she was in it.
Atmospherically and acting wise, it sustained my interest. There seemed to be the elements of a good story and it kept me guessing right along as to what the final revelation might be.
When it got to the end, I just could not believe what a let down it was. The whole film led absolutely nowhere and to not have an adequate explanation to all that went before was quite devastating if not disappointing.
Tesla (2020)
Who?
By the title of the picture I thought it would be a biography of Nicola Tesla, the man who was a genius with electricity. Obviously there was another "Tesla" of whom I know nothing? I lasted two reels.
The Invisible Man (2020)
NOTHING TO DO WITH IT
For anyone settling down to watch a good science-fiction picture or possibly a picture based on the H.G. Wells novel; he or she is going to be bitterly disappointed.
Basically this picture is a murder mystery bordering on the thriller category. A lot of it is implausible requiring one to suspend disbelief. There is some degree of alluding to an "invisible man" but he has very little to do and is really only incidental to the film.
I believe Universal is currently re-making their old horror-monster pictures and I tremble at the thought of what they will make of the rest? Will "The Phantom of the Opera" consist of someone playing a gramophone recording of Christine Daae singing? Will "The Wolfman" be a rabid dog? Will "Frankenstein" be made from Lego? The mind boggles...
Perfect (2018)
Totally Incomprehensible
I tried to watch this picture, but was lost very early in. There is a narration, but really, Stanley Unwin could have done a better job of explaining things. I would have to put it down as an experimental film which contains elements that won't catch on in manstream cinema. In this we can count ourselves lucky.
Waiting for the Miracle to Come (2018)
Dreadful
I daresay my opinion is only one of the nine billion that there are on this Earth, but I found this picture one of the most boring and hard to understand ones I've looked at in a long time. I feel that watching paint dry might have been more interesting.
Compounding my inability to completely understand the story was that some of the lines were mumbled by the leading lass to the point of being incomprehensible.
No doubt it'll most probably be lauded as an art film by the Chardonnay set.
