STOMPIN' On The Quomps drew bumper crowds to Christchurch Quay on the Saturday, as a host of performers took the stage throughout the day. Bands played on the main stage and the bandstand at the Arts Council England-backed event. Acts at the free festival that year included Snowboy and The Latin Section, Zoe Schwarz and Blue Commotion. It was established in 1994 and is a free al-fresco smooth jazz festival. A spokesman said: "Now in its 25th year, it is a festival that is hugely popular with young families through to octogenarians soaking up the atmosphere and dancing to the sounds of bands ranging from Latin jazz, blues, through to the classic sound of the big band." Indeed the festival culminated with a set from The Taverners Big Band, and guest, which is the band that started off Stompin' On The Quomps 25 years ago. Kim Cypher took to the stage at midday and conquered the festival straight away by huge audience applause and appreciation. Her Jazz music was electrifying. Here then, is the film of that particular set (the only one filmed on that particular day) for all to remember, time and time again.
