- The festival took place from 1996 to 2001. It is the predecessor to the Miami Latin Film Festival. It's mission was to promote Spanish language films and increase the awareness of Hispanic cultures among Hispanics and other community members.
- In June 2001, the festival merged with the French-Hispanic Film Festival, also located in Miami, to form the Miami Latin Film Festival.
