Movies I saw 2010
To be honest, didn't see many 2010 films. This isn't a "Top 10" or a "Bottom 10," this is just the films I saw in 2010. I do comment on whether or not I liked it though.

- DirectorDarren AronofskyStarsNatalie PortmanMila KunisVincent CasselNina is a talented but unstable ballerina on the verge of stardom. Pushed to the breaking point by her artistic director and a seductive rival, Nina's grip on reality slips, plunging her into a waking nightmare.Saw it a couple weeks ago, so it was the last film I saw in 2010. I really liked it! I don't know if I enjoyed it as much as some people, but it was still a damned cool flick and very well directed overall.
- DirectorMatthew VaughnStarsAaron Taylor-JohnsonNicolas CageChloë Grace MoretzDave Lizewski is an unnoticed high school student and comic book fan who one day decides to become a superhero, even though he has no powers, training or meaningful reason to do so.I actually didn't expect much from this. I was very mixed on the comic it was based on (Some people didn't like the torture scene from the film, well if you want something truly sick and unnecessary; read the comic.) but I had nothing better to do the day I saw this, plus my wife really wanted to see it and we usually go to the theatre together regardless.
I ended up loving it! It definitely improved on the comics hasty writing and toned the cruelty to a more acceptable level, and made one of my favourite films this year. A great combination of comedy and action - along with some genuine and intelligent undertones regarding the effect of comics on society and culture. - DirectorJoseph KosinskiStarsJeff BridgesGarrett HedlundOlivia WildeThe son of a virtual world designer goes looking for his father and ends up inside the digital world that his father designed. He meets his father's corrupted creation and a unique ally who was born inside the digital world. This was a fairly cool movie. It was probably the first big budget action film in awhile I actually enjoyed, but when I reflect on it I don't think I'm truly as impressed as my eyes were due to the fact that this lacked the smart storytelling of the original - but it was still a fun film.
- DirectorKevin GreutertStarsTobin BellCostas MandylorBetsy RussellAs a deadly battle rages over Jigsaw's brutal legacy, a group of Jigsaw survivors gathers to seek the support of self-help guru and fellow survivor Bobby Dagen, a man whose own dark secrets unleash a new wave of terror.I can't believe I'm saying this, but give us ONE more. Not because this one was good (Far from it, though it was better than IV or V) but because the ending was crap, and I refuse to accept the recycled ending as "...The End." The only reason I sat through all the increasingly stupid sequels was to piece together the somewhat interesting, if not horribly written, story arch and this half assed ending is a combo of the most nonsensical twist of the series (That's saying something.) and recycling the ending from the 2nd film.
- DirectorJimmy HaywardStarsJosh BrolinMegan FoxJohn MalkovichThe U.S. military makes a scarred bounty hunter with warrants on his own head an offer he cannot refuse: in exchange for his freedom, he must stop a terrorist who is ready to unleash Hell on Earth. Why did I let myself be dragged to this flick by my brother? Why did I bother to drag my brain along for it? Why, why, why? I think this could have been cool, it sort of looked like a steampunk western.. but then again, look at the last high budget Steampunk western coughwildwildwestcough.
- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsLeonardo DiCaprioJoseph Gordon-LevittElliot PageA thief who steals corporate secrets through the use of dream-sharing technology is given the inverse task of planting an idea into the mind of a C.E.O., but his tragic past may doom the project and his team to disaster. This was a pretty good movie. I didn't like it at first, but that was more the fact that I made the mistake of going to the theatre half-asleep after taking a heavy dose of my meds. When I went to see it again, I liked it a lot more. Really well made mind bender.
- DirectorLee UnkrichStarsTom HanksTim AllenJoan CusackThe toys are mistakenly delivered to a day-care center instead of the attic right before Andy leaves for college, and it's up to Woody to convince the other toys that they weren't abandoned and to return home. This was probably my personal favourite flick of this year. I knew it would've probably be a fun film, but I didn't think I'd end up loving it as much as I did and it was a satisfying conclusion to the series that began long ago in my childhood.
- DirectorTim BurtonStarsMia WasikowskaJohnny DeppHelena Bonham CarterNineteen-year-old Alice returns to the magical world from her childhood adventure, where she reunites with her old friends and learns of her true destiny: to end the Red Queen's reign of terror. This movie PISSED ME OFF. When I heard that Tim Burton was doing an adaptation of Alice in Wonderland, I got quite excited. He was practically perfect for adapting it, and then he gives us... this. The movie did look great, but in a weird way that added insult to injury since the rest of the film was just so bloody awful. Easily the biggest disappointment of the year.
