- DirectorBrian De PalmaStarsTim RobbinsGary SiniseDon CheadleWhen the first manned mission to Mars meets with a catastrophic and mysterious disaster after reporting an unidentified structure, a rescue mission is launched to investigate the tragedy and bring back any survivors.'The Sacrifice Scene' (Good Movie, Great scene)
When Four Astronauts who are on a rescue mission to Mars, main ship is destroyed in an fuel explosion. They must make way to an emergency pod. But the pod is floating away into orbit, because of the explosion.
Woody (Tim Robbins) the mission commander uses his jet pack(which is low on fuel) to carry a line to the pod and connect the other Astronauts to it. He succeeds at connecting them, but over shoots the pod and is now floating away into orbit himself, now with no jet pack fuel to get back. A second Astronaut Terri(Connie Nielsen) tries to send another line to him, but it is too short. Terri, wanting to save him, decides to cut her line. Woody, not wanting Terri to be harmed, commits suicide by taking off his helmet.
The Suspense in this scene is unbearable. You just want and know that something is gonna come along and save the movie's biggest star. But No! The situation keeps getting worse by the minute. But we still don't believe anything bad will happens until..........it happens.
It's a Great scene to me because, it's very unpredictable( The Conclusion of the scene). The pacing is great(scene not to long, not to short). Acting is top notch(Even Jerry O'Connell's reaction shots are believable, hehe.). Check it out for yourself. should be easy to find on the net. - DirectorZack SnyderStarsSarah PolleyVing RhamesMekhi PhiferA nurse, a policeman, a young married couple, a salesman and other survivors of a worldwide plague that is producing aggressive, flesh-eating zombies, take refuge in a mega Midwestern shopping mall.'The pre Credit Sequence' (Good Movie, Great scene)
Ana (Sarah Polley), a nurse, finishes a long shift at her Milwaukee County hospital and returns to her peaceful suburban home. She and her waiting husband Louis (Justin Louis) make love and go to sleep, missing warnings beginning to trickle through the local media.
The next morning they are awoken by their zombified neighbor, a young girl, who bites Louis in the throat. Ana locks the zombie out of the room, but despite her frantic efforts, Louis dies, immediately reanimates as a zombie, and chases Ana into the bathroom. Ana escapes out the window and flees from her now chaos-torn neighborhood in her car, before a failed hijacking attempt sends her crashing into a tree.
Not that exciting reading the description of the scene. Watching it is a different story. The zombie attack in the bedroom starts things off at such a fast pace, it's like someone pulls a rug from underneath us. When Ana climbs out the window, their is a wonderful establishing shot of all the chaos outside. Director Zack Snyder does a great job putting us in Ana's shoes in this opening scene, with the abrupt change of pace. He also does a great job pumping much needed new blood (no pun intended) into the zombie genre with this film. - DirectorRenny HarlinStarsThomas JaneSaffron BurrowsSamuel L. JacksonSearching for a cure to Alzheimer's disease, a group of scientists on an isolated research facility become the prey, as a trio of intelligent sharks fight back.'The Speech Scene' (Good Movie, Great Scene)
A Group of people are trapped in an flooding underwater Lab, Surrounded by super intelligent Sharks. When all hope to survive is lost, Russell Franklin(Samuel L. Jackson) gives an uplifting speech for the ages..................Then seconds later, a shark jumps out the water and kills him.
In my humble opinion, one of the best shock moments in movie history. It's not the fact that Samuel L. Jackson's character dies, it's how and when he dies that so surprising . And in that manner, is why I think this is a great scene. - DirectorMichael BayStarsWill SmithMartin LawrenceGabrielle UnionTwo loose-cannon narcotics cops investigate the flow of Ecstasy into Florida from a Cuban drug cartel. The Causeway Car chase. (Bad Movie, Good Scene)
Burnett(Lawrence) & Lowrey(Smith) are two cops trying to protect Burnett's sister Syd(Gabrielle Union) who is undercover and transporting money, from being hijacked by an Haitian gang. The Haitian gang also has stolen an auto transport truck to chase Syd. Trying to lose the Haitians, Syd drive onto a causeway bridge in hoping to get away.
Director Micheal Bay is known for being over the top. And in this case I think it works to his advantage. In the short distance from the start and the end of the bridge, all the stops are pulled out. The Bad guys see they are being chased, so they don't just shoot at the heroes...they start throwing cars. Literally! The visual and practical effects blend together seamlessly. Cars flipping end over end, flying into other cars, exploding into a boats, etc. It's all ridiculously insane, but it's all done very well and realistically. Making it a very fun scene to watch. - DirectorBryan SingerStarsBrandon RouthKevin SpaceyKate BosworthSuperman returns to Earth after spending five years in space examining his homeworld Krypton. But he finds things have changed while he was gone, and he must once again prove himself important to the world.'The Sun Recharge Scene' (Good Movie, Great Scene)
Weakened by a land made from kryptonite, Superman is saved by Lois in a plane. Still very weak, he jumps out the plane and ascends toward what gives him his strength.
The Score, Cinematography, editing, visual effects. All of those elements are perfect for this scene. You know exactly what is going on in the scene because of it(the fact that he is re-charging himself). And the look of determination on Superman's face after he's done, Bookends the scene just right. - DirectorJohn LuessenhopStarsChris BrownHayden ChristensenMatt DillonA group of bank robbers find their multi-million dollar plan interrupted by a hard-boiled detective. The Chris Brown chase scene. (Bad Movie, Good scene)
A group of well organized Bank robbers are attempting a last minute job. The two detective (Matt Dillon, Jay Hernandez) investigating the case get the drop on Jesse, one of the bank robbers(Chris Brown). And they try to apprehend him. A Chase on foot ensues.
And that leads to the best action sequence of the whole movie. The scene is very well done because of it's natural suspense, it doesn't seem to force it. Just when you think Jesse is about to get caught, he pulls out a whole new bag of tricks. That being his Parkour skills. This makes the scene even more exciting. Especially when the chase goes from the streets, into an office building. A very well done scene. - DirectorRichard LesterStarsChristopher ReeveRichard PryorMargot KidderSynthetic kryptonite laced with tar splits Superman in two: good Clark Kent and bad Man of Steel. The Superman vs Clark Kent fight scene. (Bad Movie, Good Scene)
An Evil CEO(Robert Vaughn) schemes to monopolize the world's coffee crop. He first needs Superman to be out of the way. He hires computer whiz Gus Gorman(Richard Pryor) to find the elements for, and create kryptonite to defeat Superman. All of the elements are found except one. Gus replaces the unknown element with tar to complete the kryptonite. They manage to deliver the kryptonite compound and it has no immediate effect on him. However, the compound begins to produce symptoms. Superman goes through a descent into darkness as he becomes selfish, depressed, angry, and casually destructive, committing petty acts of vandalism. He eventually overcome by guilt and undergoes a nervous breakdown, flying into an junkyard. He then splits into two; The corrupted superman, and the righteous Clark Kent. In the ultimate battle of the conscious, Kent now has to defeat the corrupt element with in himself........Which of course he does.
Superman III has some of the most over the top slapstick ever seen in a movie, and not the good kind. This fight sequence takes the movie to a place where it should have been in the first place. That being a serious tone, and no Richard Pryor. Christopher Reeve shows off some good acting with the corrupt Superman, and wimpy Clark Kent sharing screen time. The fight itself is quite Brutal, and actually very well done giving the limitations of the technology of the time. After all Chris Reeve is fighting himself. If only this scene were filmed first, it may had set the tone for the whole film. No such luck. - DirectorAlbert PyunStarsJean-Claude Van DammeDeborah RichterVincent KlynA martial artist hunts a killer in a plague-infested urban dump of the future.'The Knife Split Scene' (Bad Movie, Good Scene)
In a post apocalyptic world Gibson is trying protect a cyborg carrying vital info, that could create a cure for the world. Being pursued by killers who want the cure for themselves, Gibson take a detour into a sewer tunnel. As one of the killers searches, he looks up to find Gibson directly above him. With each of his legs holding on to opposite sides of the wall(A Chinese split), while holding a knife which he ultimately uses to kill the pursuer.
What makes this scene good to me is the build up. They don't immediately cut to showing Van Damme in the split position killing the guy. Basically it's the way the scene is edited that makes it stand out. The build up to the climax of the scene, is what makes it good. It shows that the Gibson Character knows how to out think his opponent. The editing almost has the confrontation play out like the end of a chess game. - DirectorPeter JacksonStarsRachel WeiszMark WahlbergSaoirse RonanCenters on a young girl who has been murdered and watches over her family - and her killer - from purgatory. She must weigh her desire for vengeance against her desire for her family to heal.'Jack, George , and the Duck trap scene' (Bad Movie, Good scene)
As Susie walks home through a cornfield, she runs into her neighbor, George Harvey (Stanley Tucci), who coaxes her into an underground den he says he has built for the neighborhood children. While in the den, Susie becomes uncomfortable in Harvey's presence and attempts to leave. Harvey overpowers her and kills her.
Sometime after that, Susie's Father Jack(Mark Walberg) sees George building something. George tells him it's for Duck hunting(it's actually another kill room for Jack other daughter.) Jack offers to help. As Jack helps Harvey he realizes with certainty that Harvey is the one who killed Susie. Harvey tells him that is time to leave. Harvey tells him he cant help Jack. Jack screams at him and pounds a hole in Harveys door as he goes inside.
After the initial small talk in this scene is over, it's only when both of the actors are silent, when the good stuff starts to happen. The Expressions on the actors' faces, the well displayed awkwardness of the silence between the two. It's a very well acted scene, and equally well directed. Maybe one of the most balanced scenes in this very uneven movie. - DirectorMichael BayStarsShia LaBeoufMegan FoxJosh DuhamelSam Witwicky leaves the Autobots behind for a normal life. But when his mind is filled with cryptic symbols, the Decepticons target him and he is dragged back into the Transformers' war.The Optimus Prime VS Megatron/decepticons Forrest fight scene. (Horrible Movie, Good Scene)
Sam(Shia LaBeouf) is rescued by the Autobots, just when the Decepticons are about to dissect his brain for info. A chase ensues which leads Optimus, Sam, and the decepticons to a Forrest to battle it out.
Specifically it's Optimus Prime VS Megatron, Star scream, and another random robot. why it takes the other Autobot so long to get there, giving that they left the previous location at the same time, I don't know.
That plot hole aside. This is a very well done fight. The Geography of the fight is surprisingly clear, we know where everybody is at all times. The slow motion moments actually helps to understand the fight better. We can see actual fighting techniques, and not just giant metal banging around. It all bring together a very memorable showdown. To top it off, the outcome of the fight is very unexpected. This is obviously the most thought out scene in the movie.
