My favourite shows as a kid.
This list is fairly self explanatory. These are the TV shows I enjoyed when I was younger! Most are cartoons for younger audiences, but there are a few more grown up shows on the list as well. The list is in no particular order, however I will write a note on whether or not I feel the show is still enjoyable as an adult.

- CreatorGenndy TartakovskyStarsKath SoucieJeff BennettChristine CavanaughThe misadventures of a boy genius and his annoying sister. This was not only one of my favourite shows as a kid, this was one of my families favourite shows. My parents loved it just as much as I did and we'd always watch it on the telly together. I watched a few episodes recently, and while a few haven't aged as well; I still see a lot of charm and many of them still made me laugh and thus I say it's held up fairly well.
- CreatorBonnie TurnerTerry TurnerStarsJohn LithgowJane CurtinKristen JohnstonA group of aliens is sent to Earth, disguised as a human family, to experience and report life on the third planet from the sun. This was probably the first live action Sitcom I saw (The first sitcom I saw at all was The Simpsons.) and to this date, it is still one of my favourites. The characters, humour, and overall writing were absolutely brilliant and so much fun. One of the best sitcoms of all time, imo.
- CreatorTom RueggerStarsRob PaulsenJess HarnellTress MacNeilleThe zany adventures of a trio of 1930s animated characters in the modern world. To save space, this entry shall also count for the Pinky & The Brain spinoff series. I loved both Animaniacs and Pinky & The Brain; and while Animaniacs holds up better on its own, I still thoroughly enjoy Pinky & The Brain. Like Dexter's Lab, this was one I would watch with my family who love (and still love it) just as much as I did.
- CreatorJeffrey BoamCarlton CuseStarsBruce CampbellJulius CarryChristian ClemensonA bounty hunter rides the Old West, fighting bad guys, many with futuristic-type gadgets. Most people see Bruce Campbell as synonymous with Ash and The Evil Dead. While I now love the Evil Dead series; I was not allowed to watch them as a kid, and so for me my first exposure of Bruce was this awesome show - and to this date, when I think of Bruce Campbell I think of this awesome and criminally short lived series.
This was actually canceled by the time I had my earliest memories (Around 1995) but my mum had recorded them all on tape, and shared them with me. I have the DVD box set... fantastic show! I wish it went on longer. The characters and settings are just so creative and fun! - CreatorChris CarterStarsDavid DuchovnyGillian AndersonMitch PileggiTwo F.B.I. Agents, Fox Mulder the believer and Dana Scully the skeptic, investigate the strange and unexplained, while hidden forces work to impede their efforts. This was arguably the most adult show I watched as a kid. Yes, I actually watched this with my mum when I was only maybe 5 or 6 years old - and it kind of cemented my love for supernatural thrillers; it also scared me at that age at times, and that cemented my love of movies and shows that can scare me.
I still enjoy this show a lot, and recently bought the box set since while I had seen maybe 75% of the episodes prior, many had fallen out of memory or had not been seen. - CreatorJean ChalopinAndy HeywardBruno BianchiStarsDon AdamsHolly BergerFrank WelkerA bumbling cyborg inspector outfitted with an array of bizarre gadgets pursues the criminal organization M.A.D., all while his precocious niece and dog do the real investigative work. This was a fun show. It still puts a smile on my face, actually - if not just for Don Adams great voice talent. It hasn't aged as well as I wished it would have, though thankfully there was another Don Adams show that still holds up well (if not better) as an adult...
- CreatorMel BrooksBuck HenryStarsDon AdamsBarbara FeldonEdward PlattMaxwell Smart, a highly intellectual but bumbling spy working for the CONTROL agency, battles the evil forces of rival spy agency KAOS with the help of his competent partner Agent 99.Yep, you guessed it - Get Smart. I have my parents to thank me for getting me into this one, since it was way before my time. I still enjoyed the show thoroughly even when some of the humour went over my head, but Don Adams was so much fun and there was plenty that I enjoyed even as a kid. As mentioned above, this show has aged better as I've gotten older - and I have the DVD sets.
- CreatorJohn KricfalusiBob CampJim GomezStarsJohn KricfalusiBilly WestHarris PeetRen, a psychotic Chihuahua, and Stimpson J. Cat, a dimwitted Manx cat who goes by the nickname Stimpy, have a host of unusual adventures.Who doesn't love Ren & Stimpy? Hell, it was my aunt who told my mother who told me about it. This show is still fairly funny, even though I'm past "Gross out" humour. This is one show that did it right.
- CreatorMaxwell AtomsStarsGreg EaglesRichard Steven HorvitzGrey GriffinThe ill-tempered Grim Reaper gets into a wager that forces him to become the life-long companions of two scheming youngsters after he loses.I love, love, loved this show. I haven't seen the more recent episodes, but of all the Cartoon Network shows that I watched when I was younger - this is the one that I watched even after I had stopped really watching kids cartoons. I was still watching in late 2005, and I was 16 by then. I still haven't seen any episodes past that point, but I have some of the older ones on tape - and I still absolutely love them.
- CreatorGraham ChapmanEric IdleTerry JonesStarsGraham ChapmanJohn CleeseTerry GilliamThe original surreal sketch comedy showcase for the Monty Python troupe.I was born and spent the first 6 or so years of my life in the UK, and my parents had lived there far longer and introduced me to Monty Python at a young age. They didn't really mind some of the content (Nudity was never their issue; they usually were more restrictive of violence.) and while there were many jokes that flew over my head, there was still plenty I could laugh at when I was young. I have the complete box set of this show and love them all to this day.
- CreatorBob KaneEric RadomskiBruce TimmStarsKevin ConroyLoren LesterEfrem Zimbalist Jr.The Dark Knight battles crime in Gotham City with occasional help from Robin and Batgirl.Truth be told, I was never into action cartoons unless they were high on comic relief. Yet this (and the next item on the list) was an exception. One of the earliest movies I remember seeing was a copy of Tim Burton's Batman on laserdisc (Yeah, we had laserdisc. We actually had no VHS, we had "The Wrong Format" curse back then.) and it fascinated me.
Then I tuned into an episode of this show, and it continued to cement Batman as my childhood hero. This show is still slick and quite entertaining, and one of the only cartoons from my childhood I own DVD sets of. - CreatorJohn DilworthStarsMarty GrabsteinThea WhitePeter FernandezThe offbeat adventures of Courage, a cowardly dog who must overcome his own fears to heroically defend his unknowing farmer owners from all kinds of dangers, paranormal events and menaces that appear around their land. This show had one big flaw really; if you stripped it down to its bare bones, pretty much every episode had the same formula to a degree. Yet it made up for it by having the the villains and situations being so outlandish and creative. I always loved seeing the weird ghoulies and contrivances that haunted poor Courage, and I still smile at this show. Plus Courage is adorable.
- CreatorJames L. BrooksMatt GroeningSam SimonStarsDan CastellanetaNancy CartwrightHarry ShearerThe satiric adventures of a working-class family in the misfit city of Springfield.Do I really need to write up on The Simpsons? I loved watching this with my family as a kid, and I loved how it often had jokes that I could appreciate even when I was young and naive, and then rewatching said episodes as an adult - I find many gags I wouldn't have understood then, which gave the series much re-watch value. I still watch the show; yeah it's declined, but it is still fun for me.
- CreatorSatoshi TajiriJun'ichi MasudaKen SugimoriStarsVeronica TaylorRachael LillisEric StuartCovering the continuing adventures of series protagonist Ash Ketchum and Pikachu, and his best friend Brock, the two meet a new coordinator named Dawn, who travels with them through Sinnoh and enters Pokemon Contests.Ugh, I hate admitting this... but I was a Pokemon kid until around 2002. Yet it still hits this list because I watched pretty much every episode at the time. I also played the trading card game and the video games; about the only thing that can be said about that, is I do admit the video games are still quite fun actually. I can't understand what it was about this show that I loved back in the day, really...
- StarsBrice ArmstrongSteve OlsonStephanie NadolnyDragon Ball tells the tale of a young warrior by the name of Son Goku, a young peculiar boy with a tail who embarks on a quest to become stronger and learns of the Dragon Balls, when, once all 7 are gathered, grant any wish of choice.I actually didn't care for Dragon Ball Z; even as a kid. For some reason, I never got into "serious" action shows and the only time I ever really enjoyed DBZ was when they cut out the fighting and focused on the humour and characters.
Yet that is exactly why I loved the original Dragon Ball, it focused mainly on Akira Toriyama's great sense of humour and the charm of his characters. The action wasn't as good as DBZ, and was broken up more with outlandish set pieces.
I watched a few episodes recently, and I still quite enjoy it. When Toriyama is focusing on humour, I love his work. - CreatorJymn MagonStarsAlan YoungRussi TaylorTerence McGovernHuey, Dewey, and Louie are in for an epic surprise when they meet their wealthy but reclusive uncle, Scrooge McDuck. The family embark on globe-trotting adventures and treasure hunts, uncover family secrets, and face dangerous enemies.DuckTales will always have a special place in my heart. I won't lie, when I went back to re-watch some episodes it didn't hold up as well as I had hoped, but I still got some charm from it because of how much I loved this show as a kid. It was always so much fun and I love the characters; in fact, that's arguably one of the things that I did still enjoy thoroughly when I watched a few episodes again, the characters were still really fun.
- CreatorDavid FeissStarsCharlie AdlerCandi MiloDee Bradley BakerThe program focuses on the misadventures of two unlikely yet somehow biological siblings: Cow and Chicken.I recently watched a couple episodes of this again, and while some still made me smile - I will admit that now, it feels like a somewhat inferior take off of "Ren & Stimpy." Regardless; when I was growing up, I loved this show to bits. Shame it doesn't hold up as well these days.
- CreatorDan CurtisStarsJonathan FridGrayson HallAlexandra IslesThe rich Collins family of Collinsport, Maine is tormented by strange occurrences.Yes, I watched this as a kid. My mother was obsessed with it, and I found myself watching it with her before school. It's also the only soap opera I ever enjoyed and more soap operas should learn from it and add vampires and ghouls. Still love this show, as well as its sadly underrated film adaptation - "House of Dark Shadows."
- CreatorShuki LevyHaim SabanStarsDavid YostRichard Steven HorvitzEd NeilA team of teenagers with attitude are recruited to save Angel Grove from the evil witch, Rita Repulsa, and later, Lord Zedd, Emperor of all he sees, and their horde of monsters.Another one I detest admitting to liking when I was kid. I simply don't understand why I enjoyed it, especially since I didn't really like action shows usually. Yet apparently I watched this show all the time, and my mum still has bad memories of me pestering her into taking me to go see the movie.... I have apologized to her since growing out of this thing quite quickly.
- CreatorGene RoddenberryStarsPatrick StewartBrent SpinerJonathan FrakesSet almost 100 years after Captain Kirk's 5-year mission, a new generation of Starfleet officers sets off in the U.S.S. Enterprise-D on its own mission to go where no one has gone before.I'm not really a Trekkie; but regardless, I loved TNG. My mum is a Trekkie, and she got me into this show. It's really the only Star Trek series I have enjoyed and still enjoy.
