- DirectorJohn McTiernanStarsBruce WillisAlan RickmanBonnie BedeliaA New York City police officer tries to save his estranged wife and several others taken hostage by terrorists during a Christmas party at the Nakatomi Plaza in Los Angeles.Simply the most entertaining, action filled, engaging action/thriller ever made. Outshines any other action film and is still the "film to beat" for all current/future action movies.
- DirectorDavid FincherStarsMorgan FreemanBrad PittKevin SpaceyTwo detectives, a rookie and a veteran, hunt a serial killer who uses the seven deadly sins as his motives.Probably one of the greatest screenplays ever written. Drama, humour, action and Tom Hanks is perfect as the title character. Possibly the best movie of the 90's and Tom Hank's best performance to date.
- DirectorJohn HillcoatStarsViggo MortensenCharlize TheronKodi Smit-McPheeIn a dangerous post-apocalyptic world, an ailing father defends his son as they slowly travel to the sea.An engaging and 'weepy eyed' drama that is genuinely heart-felt. - DirectorChristopher NolanStarsChristian BaleHeath LedgerAaron EckhartWhen the menace known as the Joker wreaks havoc and chaos on the people of Gotham, Batman must accept one of the greatest psychological and physical tests of his ability to fight injustice. One of the greatest sequels ever made and is far better than the first Christopher Nolan Batman film. Heath Ledger's Joker is haunting and superb, deservedly winning the Best Supporting Actor Oscar. Excellent action scenes, a brilliant score and a very exciting film from start to finish with an all star cast.
- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsLeonardo DiCaprioJoseph Gordon-LevittElliot PageA thief who steals corporate secrets through the use of dream-sharing technology is given the inverse task of planting an idea into the mind of a C.E.O., but his tragic past may doom the project and his team to disaster.Everything from the plot/storyline, the acting, the writing and the special effects is breathtaking. I have seen this at least ten times and I only just 'get' the plot. I didn't want it to end and it definately lived up to the hype. Wow.
- DirectorJames CameronStarsSigourney WeaverMichael BiehnCarrie HennDecades after surviving the Nostromo incident, Ellen Ripley is sent out to re-establish contact with a terraforming colony but finds herself battling the Alien Queen and her offspring.Very scary, intense and a great story that will never go out of date. There have been sequels since and crossovers but nothing compares to this.
- DirectorJames CameronStarsArnold SchwarzeneggerLinda HamiltonEdward FurlongA cyborg, identical to the one who failed to kill Sarah Connor, must now protect her ten year old son John from an even more advanced and powerful cyborg.Second only to Die Hard in terms of the 'Greatest' action movie ever made and surpasses the original. The special effects were way ahead of its time and every member of the cast is perfect in their role. I have seen this so many times I can quote it nearly from start to end. See this movie.
- DirectorJames WanStarsCary ElwesLeigh WhannellDanny GloverTwo strangers awaken in a room with no recollection of how they got there, and soon discover they're pawns in a deadly game. One of the most original and thrilling concepts ever. This is very similar in tone to 'Seven' in terms of Cinematography and 'feel'. It's a shame the sequels didn't live up to this one.
- DirectorVincenzo NataliStarsNicole de BoerMaurice Dean WintDavid HewlettA group of strangers awaken to find themselves placed in a giant cube. Each one of them is gifted with a special skill and they must work together to escape an endless maze of deadly traps.Wow. I think about this movie probably at least once a week. A very simple/basic concept that was executed extremely well. All the characters are superbly written and I was thrilled from start to finish.
