Young Actors to Watch

Just watched two movies with Chloe Moretz in them, Let Me In and Kickass. Spoilers Never thought a movie could make me feel so sorry for a murderous, blood sucking vampire as I did for Abby (Chloe Moretz) in "Let Me In." Miss Moretz acting ability played off of the equal talent of Kodi Smit-Mcphee made for a very intense, scary and entertaining production. Equally entertaining (and intense) was Miss Moretz part in "Kickass." Although somewhat slapstick and of the genre that you would expect from a comic book production, Chloe stole the show as "Hit Girl," a trained assassin battling an organized crime empire alongside her father and a bumbling super hero. Look for many great things to come from this extremely talented actress.

I am anticipating more excellent acting from Kodi Smit-Mcphee. His intense portrayal of Owen in Let Me In, added to the equally intense acting of Chloe Moretz made for an extremely intense, scary and entertaining production. I am hoping that future productions work with his somewhat unique and endearing characteristics.

Everywhere you look, Mila Kunis this and Mila Kunis that. Is she really that good?? Well yes, she is!! From her portrayal of Jackie on That 70's Show to her current parts in The Book of Eli (Solara) and Black Swan (Lily), she has steadily progressed toward perfection in her craft. With a lot of the other young actresses gaining much notoriety for their non-acting escapades, Mila Kunis seams to be maintaining her sanity and focusing on her acting ability and projects. If she stays on the straight and narrow in her career, you will see her in top roles for many years to come.

OK, so who in Sofia Vassilieva? Her main claim to fame has been as Ariel Dubois on the TV series Medium. As I watched this show from the beginning, her character has grown from a clumsy, awkward young teenages into a beautiful young lady. Her acting ability has also slowly progressed into something to be admired. When I watched My Sister's Keeper last year, I kept wondering who this marvelous actress was that portrayed Kate Fitzgerald, a wonderful teenager, full of life, despite her battle with Leukemia. Part way through the film, it dawned on me that this was Sofia Vassilieva, the young lady who had grown up with us on Medium. Her part was so different, unique and endearing that she was not readily recognized. In looking over her IMDB profile, I see that there are no new projects in the works. I hope that this is just a temporary condition.

AnnaSophia Robb is a mixed bag of talent. From her portrayal of Violet Beauregarde in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to the heartbreaking and complex role of Leslie Burke in Bridge to Terabithia, she has proven that she can play anything that is given to her. From snotty, bratty child to beautiful young lady, nothing is beyond her reach. Will be interesting to see where her ambitions take her.

OK, so here's me going out on a limb. Despite all of the criticism of Miley Cyrus (by her "haters"), she can actually act well and sings extremely well. As Hanna Montana, she built an empire that can hold it's own against all others. Her acting was very "Disney" and fell under the Disney motif. She was acting to kids, which is what the job required. This has brought in billions for Disney and is nothing to be scoffed at. In her last Hannah Montana movie, she portrayed that Hannah was just a normal girl, caught up in a big Entertainment whirlwind. How art does imitate life or visa versa. In The Last Song, she gave a notable performance. With all of the sensationalism about every little misdeed that this talented artist has instigated, I have to think way back to when I was a teenager and how perfect I was (not). Everyone who had no problems with growing pains, please stand up. (silence overtakes the room). Best wishes to this talented artist and a bright future.
