- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsLeonardo DiCaprioJoseph Gordon-LevittElliot PageA thief who steals corporate secrets through the use of dream-sharing technology is given the inverse task of planting an idea into the mind of a C.E.O., but his tragic past may doom the project and his team to disaster.Should definately have won best picture. A cinematic breakthrough with incredible effects and perfect direction. ( Nolan wasnt even nominated) People are gonna look back on 2010 as the year of Inception. It atleast should have won original screenplay
- DirectorDavid FincherStarsJesse EisenbergAndrew GarfieldJustin TimberlakeAs Harvard student Mark Zuckerberg creates the social networking site that would become known as Facebook, he is sued by the twins who claimed he stole their idea and by the co-founder who was later squeezed out of the business.A very slick, clever and entertaining film. Again a cinematic breakthrough. One of the best screenplays in years and great peformances from a great young cast. Out of the realistic nominees this should have been the runaway winner
- DirectorDarren AronofskyStarsNatalie PortmanMila KunisVincent CasselNina is a talented but unstable ballerina on the verge of stardom. Pushed to the breaking point by her artistic director and a seductive rival, Nina's grip on reality slips, plunging her into a waking nightmare.A very intelligent stylish film. You walk out of it and cant get it out of your head for days. Natalie portman was outstanding as was Darren Aronofskys direction. As much as i loved it, it was probably too controversial to win best film
- DirectorEthan CoenJoel CoenStarsJeff BridgesMatt DamonHailee SteinfeldA stubborn teenager enlists the help of a tough U.S. Marshal to track down her father's murderer.A film that shows that remakes can not just work but actually be better than the original. An extremely enjoyable film with brilliant central peformances and cinematography. Definately couldnt have won best film though
- DirectorDanny BoyleStarsJames FrancoAmber TamblynKate MaraA mountain climber becomes trapped under a boulder while canyoneering alone near Moab, Utah and resorts to desperate measures in order to survive.A suprisingly entertaining and moving film, completely underappreciated by some people. Again danny boyle deserved an oscar nod. unbeleivable work from james franco. not to everyones taste but i really liked it
- DirectorTom HooperStarsColin FirthGeoffrey RushHelena Bonham CarterThe story of King George VI, his unexpected ascension to the throne of the British Empire in 1936, and the speech therapist who helped the unsure monarch overcome his stammer.A very charming great satisfying film with great central peformances especially from colin firth. However i dont think it deserved best picture because it was safe. there have been many films similar to it and i think it won the oscar purely due to the subject. Inception, social network and black swan were complete breakthroughs for modern cinema. This was great but nohing special
- DirectorLee UnkrichStarsTom HanksTim AllenJoan CusackThe toys are mistakenly delivered to a day-care center instead of the attic right before Andy leaves for college, and it's up to Woody to convince the other toys that they weren't abandoned and to return home.A fantastic family film keeping the humour and entertainment from the first two films adding in some extra emotion aswell. I still preffered the first film however and i think if up couldnt win in 2009 this didnt deserve a chance
- DirectorDavid O. RussellStarsMark WahlbergChristian BaleAmy AdamsBased on the story of Micky Ward, a fledgling boxer who tries to escape the shadow of his more famous but troubled older boxing brother and get his own shot at greatness.Th film definately with the strongest ensemble cast, great fight scenes and emotion. However this was the least original or risky of the nominees. Deserved a nomination but definately not a win
- DirectorDebra GranikStarsJennifer LawrenceJohn HawkesGarret DillahuntAn unflinching Ozark Mountain girl hacks through dangerous social terrain as she hunts down her drug-dealing father while trying to keep her family intact.Lawrence excelled in this good atmospheric thriller. however it was only in this list to make up the numbers.
- DirectorLisa CholodenkoStarsAnnette BeningJulianne MooreMark RuffaloTwo children conceived by artificial insemination bring their biological father into their non-traditional family life.Imo a criminally over rated film. i watched it very open minded but i was dissapointed by the awkward script and excruciating cheesiness of the characters and the story. Far too uncomfortable to enjoy. And not funny either
