My Take: 25 Least Favorite Films of 1985-1989
by JCarl01 | created - 27 Jul 2011 | updated - 13 Jul 2015 | PublicFirst off, this is a list of my "Least Favorite" films during this time period, and not necessarily the "Worst Films", which would be a different list and follow another criteria. I love the films of the 80s. Criticizing titles from this decade is akin to insulting my own generation's taste, and I wish the films listed below had instead been released in the 90s, but every generation makes mistakes. Between 1985 and 1989, I graduated high school and completed my second year of college, important times, they were. With the exception of a title or two, I doubt anyone would debate the quality of the films listed below. Yes, several are considered classics in some circles. Others are pretty much loathed by everyone. And at least one or two have probably never been heard of, unless you were raised in the 80s and loved genre movies. To be fair, I have only listed movies which I saw in their entirety. That I have not revisited these movies in twenty-plus years is a moot point, once was enough. I've also removed direct-to-video releases, as I believe those shouldn't count if I'm primarily listing major Hollywood films. Are all of these Bad Films? Not necessarily, but I have bad memories of them, negative impressions, and sour associations, for one reason or another. I'm surprised at the number of fantasy movies listed here. Do I dislike fantasy films? Of course not, but I suppose that fantasy is a delicate art form to me, and the films listed below just don't cut it. If some of these movies are indeed your cup of tea, then drink deeply and enjoy. I spat them out.
