Oscar Snubs & Surprises of the Last 10 Years22 of 24
2009
2009 was a very weak year in most categories, especially Best Picture. With the Academy creating it's new 10 film rule, a lot of the films nominated were just fillers. But, 'The Blind Side' up for Best Picture?! What is this, a joke nomination?! After winning the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture, everybody thought 'The Hangover' was going to be the first full-on comedy film to get an Oscar nod. The biggest surprise, though, was Maggie Gyllenhaal's extremely surprising Supporting nomination alongside Jeff Bridges in 'Crazy Heart'. Was it she nominated as an 'apology' for not being nominated previously..? Gyllenhaal beat out the likes of Julianne Moore, Diane Kruger and Mélanie Laurent.
