My All-American (2015)
From the writer responsible for Hoosiers and Rudy comes another poignant film about a young athlete who manages to inspire those around him in choosing to tackle difficulty head on. The story follows Freddie Steinmark (Finn Wittrock), a safety who played for the University of Texas Longhorns during their 1969 run to a National Championship. Shortly after a crucial victory during that season, Steinmark was diagnosed with cancer and had his leg amputated. But that didn't stop him from contributing to the team. Steinmark died in 1971, but he has remained a fixture at UT football games: In 1972, the scoreboard of the school's stadium was dedicated to him.
