I have always been a fan of the dark, grittiness that DC brings to the table & this show continues that trend. It has its own way of bringing humor to the table that is not in your face, but it is low-key. I am going to break down by feelings of the episodes by each character.
(1) Dick Grayson. First off, Brenton Thwaites is perfectly cast as this character & I am honestly going to have a hard time in dealing with another person being him in the movie world. He has Dick's charm & intensity and I cannot wait to see his character evolve. His fights scenes were brutal, realistic & amazing. (Character Rating: 10/10)
(2) Rachel Roth. The character playing her is young and inexperienced in the acting world, but she is doing well capturing the essence of Raven. Her parts seems as though they are part of American Horror Story, which I appreciate because Rachel is a half-demon after-all. (Character Rating: 8.7/10)
(3) Koriand'r. Her casting was controversial for many, but not me. I KNEW Anna Diop was going to be perfect for this role, which she was. She is my favorite character & I am looking forward to her interaction with the rest of team. (Character Rating: 10/10)
(4) Gar Logan. We barely see him, but what we do see of him is fun. (Character Rating: 10/10)
(5) Amy. She is a completely new character & I am not sure how I feel about her character as yet. Once they do not pair her with Dick, then I am good. (Character Rating: 6.5/10) - DirectorBrad AndersonStarsBrenton ThwaitesAnna DiopTeagan CroftA new threat is after Rachel as she and Dick arrive at the home of Hank Hall and Dawn Granger, where a complicated history resurfaces.7.4
Overall, this episode has a depressing undertone to it, which was not bad but I was just not expecting so much pain this episode. We see the story of Dove & Hawk and the history they have with Dick. Meanwhile, Dick is trying to figure out what to do with Rachel since she just killed a man.
Character Ratings for this episode
(1) Dove/Dawn - 8.0/10
(2) Hawk/Hank - 9.5/10
(3) Dick - 7.5/10
(4) Rachel 7.5/10
(5) Amy 7.0/10
WHAT I LOVED:
(1) Dick's & Raven's brother & sister vibe
(2) How Dove keeps Hank grounded & how much Hank loves her.
(3) The fights scenes
(4) Rachel's & Dove's developing friendship
(5) Alfred being cannon in this show; also, I saw Donna Troy's & Bruce Wayne's name, which made me extremely happy
NEUTRAL:
(1) Not sure how to feel about the Nuclear family, but I do know that they are crazy as shit.
WHAT I DISLIKED:
(1) That Dick & Dove used to be together... it rubbed me the wrong way.
(2) Dick being a Dick; he wants to leave Rachel hanging & he has wronged Dove in the past
(3) My girl Starfire & my guy Beast not being in this episode at all.
What's Next? Well, first things first I want Beast Boy & Starfire to be in the next episode. Then, I need Dove to be alive & make it clear she wants Hank. I need Dick & Starfire to meet... I mean it is about time, is it not? Last, I want to know what happened to Amy? That family could not have left her alive. I mean, they are vicious. - DirectorKevin Rodney SullivanStarsBrenton ThwaitesAnna DiopTeagan CroftRachel is rescued by Kory who then takes her to a special sanctuary. While hunting them down, Dick thinks back to the day when Bruce Wayne adopted him.
