- DirectorRachel LearsStarsAlexandria Ocasio-CortezCori BushJoe CrowleyA look at the people involved with various political campaigns during the 2018 U.S. congressional election.Informative, inspiring, important — Netflix documentary Knock Down the House is imperative viewing not only for those with a keen interest in politics, but also for anyone eager to understand how the common, little people, deemed insignificant by political bigwigs and their corporate sponsors, can stand up to them and make a difference. Though based on a recent revolution in the American political landscape, it also hits close to home, with the realization that instead of indulging in pointless debates between BJP, Congress, AAP, or any such political party, the need of the hour is for their supporters to acknowledge that they've all been fundamentally corrupted and require to be cleansed from within. Barring a few moments where the pace lags, this is as pertinent and powerful as a political documentary can be.
3.75/5 stars - DirectorMiles LagozeCreated out of war footage taken by combat camera for the Marine Corps.Documentary film Combat Obscura famialirises us with the rigorous daily grind, uncertain decisions, confusing scenarios, surprisingly monotonous existence (especially when no combat takes place for days on end), cultural dilemmas, and moral conflict that elite soldiers from advanced nations face when thrust in the middle of hostile, third-world countries. But, for those who follow war documentaries at least, the footage isn't all that novel, it lacks a certain flow, and as much of a statement on the ambiguity of America's invasion in the Middle East that ex-Marine Corps cameraman and the film's Director, Miles Lagoze, endeavors to make, you wish that whatever he had to say or, in this case, show, was done with a little less "obscurity".
