CLOSE CONTENDERS: LSD, Mushrooms, Ketamine
I think this one speaks for itself but I will try to do it justice with basic human words. This movie on that wonderfully rare drug you've heard about in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas takes on an entire new feeling on Ms. Mescaline. Yes, there are swirling colors and blue people, but what the drug really does is pull you into the emotion of the movie. Everything is so grand you feel like you are experiencing these moments with the people in front of you. - CreatorGlen A. LarsonRonald D. MooreStarsEdward James OlmosMary McDonnellJamie BamberWhen an old enemy, the Cylons, resurface and obliterate the 12 colonies, the crew of the aged Galactica protect a small civilian fleet - the last of humanity - as they journey toward the fabled 13th colony, Earth.DRUG OF CHOICE: Marijuana
CLOSE CONTENDERS: Alcohol
Don't knock it till you frak it! Many people will roll their eyes at this particular contender, but put this on and sit back with a nice blunt for an experience that will rock your world. Good sound system is encouraged. Be ready to experience something so epic, so intense, so suspenseful that it'll make you want to smoke more. Unfortunately not very good for psychedelic experiences because the effect comes from the grandiose plot. - DirectorQuentin TarantinoStarsUma ThurmanDavid CarradineDaryl HannahAfter awakening from a four-year coma, a former assassin wreaks vengeance on the team of assassins who betrayed her.DRUG OF CHOICE: Alcohol
CLOSE CONTENDERS: LSD, Marijuana, Cocaine
Ah, an experience like no other when you're just that teeny bit tipsy. Another one of those moving-so-fast-your-brain-is-going-to-fall-off movies. When you're drunk, the stunts look unbelievable more bad-donkey and the movie will feel like it flew by in 2 seconds. Once it's complete feel free to stand up and clap for Uma Thurma's performance. - DirectorPeter JacksonStarsElijah WoodIan McKellenOrlando BloomA meek Hobbit from the Shire and eight companions set out on a journey to destroy the powerful One Ring and save Middle-earth from the Dark Lord Sauron.DRUG OF CHOICE: LSD
CLOSE CONTENDERS: Marijuana, Alcohol, Cocaine
Although only "Fellowship of the Ring" is included in this list, this goes for all the Lord of the Rings films, possibly more so "The Two Towers" and "The Return of the King." This film is so fun tripping face because of all the detailed, extravagant worlds you get to explore. One minute your watching the Middle Earth map wiggle and twist as you fly above it then the next your at Hobbiton, and finally at the dark burning lands of Mordor. Creatures to behold, plot is slow enough, and amazing faces by Sir Ian McKellen! Trip face! - DirectorDarren AronofskyStarsNatalie PortmanMila KunisVincent CasselNina is a talented but unstable ballerina on the verge of stardom. Pushed to the breaking point by her artistic director and a seductive rival, Nina's grip on reality slips, plunging her into a waking nightmare.DRUG OF CHOICE: Marijuana
CLOSE CONTENDERS: Alcohol, Marijuana
Definitely a movie that is utterly effed up and crazy from beginning to climactic end, but see it with Sister Mary J? The information and imagery fly at your brain so quickly you'll need time to relax. - DirectorPaul HaggisStarsDon CheadleSandra BullockThandiwe NewtonLos Angeles citizens with vastly separate lives collide in interweaving stories of race, loss and redemption.DRUG OF CHOICE: Alcohol (specifically wine)
CLOSE CONTENDERS: Marijuana
Say what you will about it winning best picture, this movie is certainly one to enjoy (or rather...empathize with) with a nice bottle of rosé. Yes, it's emotional. Yes, it's melodramatic in every sense of the word. Yes, it has to do with race and all those other cliches. But it left me speechless, inspired, starstruck, and just completely beside myself. Definitely an unpredictable film that captures such beautiful emotionally charged moments that are just amped up with a little intoxication. - DirectorStephen ChboskyStarsLogan LermanEmma WatsonEzra MillerCharlie, a 15-year-old introvert, enters high school and is nervous about his new life. When he befriends his seniors, he learns to cope with his friend's suicide and his tumultuous past.DRUG OF CHOICE: Alcohol (specifically wine)
CLOSE CONTENDERS: Marijuana
This movie reminded me of why I missed my friends in high school (freshman year happened to be the time of my life) so much so that I cried from beginning to end. Don't worry, the movie isn't sad...but it will surely remind you how amazing it was to be a kid and if you ever got the experience to finally be accepted into a group you thought was so cool and unique then you should definitely hit this up with a bottle of wine. Then attempt to read that whole sentence in one breath three times. Then, then, then.
