My Best of T.V.- Scifi, Action, Tech V0.1ALPHA

by walley-drew | created - 10 Apr 2013 | updated - 10 Apr 2013 | Public

I wanted to make a list of my favorite TV series. The list will remain a work in progress for me as I remember past shows & find the time to work on it. This is my first attempt at making anything on IMDB. For now the order is nothing of consequence, just a jumble. Eventually I'd like to order them by genre in order of some crazy rating system I can dream up. I'm in search of hidden gems lost to time or smaller budget shows I may not be aware of. Please post great series so I can review them and add them to the list if deemed worthy.

Semi accurate story of Spartacus, so far the blood & sands was the best season. I'm currently starting season 3.

Votes: 251,458

Comic books, interweaving story, loads of plot with action. Has some holes in the story that are annoying but still a good show. They really screwed up canceling the series early leaving it unfinished, OUCH!

Stars: Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, Lauren Cohan

Votes: 1,080,350

Tied with Spartacus for gore and action, a great series. It would be near perfect if it did not have annoying holes in story. For instance when they are in the prison why not just save ammo and stab all the zombies through the fence?

4. Shameless (2011–2021)

TV-MA | 60 min | Comedy, Drama

A scrappy, feisty, fiercely loyal Chicago family makes no apologies.

Stars: Emmy Rossum, William H. Macy, Ethan Cutkosky, Jeremy Allen White

Votes: 284,495

Remake of the British show as many of our shows are these days. I was surprised when I found just how many shows get ported over to the U.S.. Season 1 & 2 have been the best, 3rd season opened funny then sort of fell off. I'm curious to see where it goes because I know the Brit version has ran for many many years.

A show that dissects mostly common recipe's to improve upon them. Science and trial and error are used to bring new concepts and idea's to the kitchen. They also test kitchen appliances and utensils. Basically the same as Cook's Country series.

Good scifi that isn't star trek.

A boy genius and his comrades travel to different parallel universes, trying to find their way back home.

Stars: Jerry O'Connell, Sabrina Lloyd, John Rhys-Davies, Cleavant Derricks

Votes: 20,371

Interesting science fiction series that can be as unique as it is silly. I believe it is season 4 that the series suffers greatly when the original cast is cut to pieces. When Jerry O'Connell & John Rhys-Davies leave the show it loses most of it's appeal.

13. Babylon 5 (1993–1998)

In the mid 23rd century, the Earth Alliance space station Babylon 5, located in neutral territory, is a major focal point for political intrigue, racial tensions and various wars over the course of five years.

Stars: Mira Furlan, Richard Biggs, Stephen Furst, Andreas Katsulas

Votes: 34,577

I'm not sure why Bruce Boxleitner hasn't played more prominent roles. It seems to me he could weigh in with many of the big budget movie actors these days. At the very least Ashton Kutcher shouldn't be allowed in movies or on tv before not allowing Boxleitner. That said Babylon 5 is a great science fiction series, some of which star trek may have borrowed from with Deep Space Nine.

14. Upright Citizens Brigade (1998–2000)

TV-14 | 30 min | Comedy

Agents Adair, Antoine, Colby, and Trotter both monitor and create chaos across the universe.

Stars: Matt Besser, Amy Poehler, Ian Roberts, Matt Walsh

Possibly the best skit comedy show ever written. The plot and seasons all interweave to create a complete world of anarchy and chaos.

Stars: Morgan Freeman, Sean Carroll, Michio Kaku, Kip Thorne

Votes: 18,423

With Morgan Freeman cutting the wax on narration this show delves into the world of theoretical physics and science to ask the big questions. Animation and interviews with top scientists make for interesting television.

16. Ancient Aliens (2009– )

Science and mythology - and how they are the same thing.

Stars: Robert Clotworthy, Giorgio A. Tsoukalos, David Childress, William Henry

Votes: 12,551

From a scientific stance this show is no more realistic than X-Files. Usually pulling "facts" from out dated texts with an almost certain intentional ignorance the show attempts to prove the intervention of aliens on the human race. It still comes off as interesting and fun to watch even if it is fake. It's entertainment that does an exceptional job of spurring imagination.

17. Nova (1974– )

HILARIOUS! What an incredible job in its inception and creation. This Canadian born comedy is similar to Shameless but far better all around.

19. The Jeff Dunham Show (2009– )

30 min | Comedy

Jeff Dunham's new 30 minute sitcom with a full live audience shows Jeff and his famous (and some infamous) take on the streets of LA while keeping it real and keeping it comedy.

Stars: Jeff Dunham, James Koshak, Penelope Hsu, Benji Madden

Votes: 831

Using a nearly extinct art it's amazing just how funny ventriloquist Jeff Dunham can be. The main issue with the show is lack of, at only 7 episodes. The writers and actors really pulled it off with this I'm not sure what happened.

20. Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987–1994)

TV-PG | 45 min | Action, Adventure, Drama

Set almost 100 years after Captain Kirk's 5-year mission, a new generation of Starfleet officers sets off in the U.S.S. Enterprise-D on its own mission to go where no one has gone before.

Stars: Patrick Stewart, Brent Spiner, Jonathan Frakes, LeVar Burton

Votes: 135,752

It's almost the principles and actions that make the show something special. Will probably remain the king of science fiction for a long time to come.

21. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993–1999)

TV-PG | 45 min | Action, Adventure, Drama

In the vicinity of the liberated planet of Bajor, the Federation space station Deep Space Nine guards the opening of a stable wormhole to the far side of the galaxy.

Votes: 77,210

I had to warm up to Janeway over time but in the end really like the show.

23. Star Trek: Enterprise (2001–2005)

TV-PG | 60 min | Action, Adventure, Drama

A century before Captain Kirk's five-year mission, Jonathan Archer captains the United Earth ship Enterprise during the early years of Starfleet, leading up to the Earth-Romulan War and the formation of the Federation.

Stars: Scott Bakula, John Billingsley, Jolene Blalock, Dominic Keating

Votes: 59,022

As with Voyager it took time to accept the new Captain but eventually I could and really enjoyed it.
