- DirectorKevin SmithStarsBrian O'HalloranJeff AndersonMarilyn GhigliottiA day in the lives of two convenience clerks named Dante and Randal as they annoy customers, discuss movies, and play hockey on the store roof.I'm not even supposed to be here today!
This unusual comedy was Kevin Smith's firstborn, low-budget black and white movie that launched him as one of the wittiest screen-writers/directors of today, and the first appearance of Jay and Silent Bob, awkwardly hilarious duo that became a legend. "Required reading" for all lovers of independent film.
9/10 - DirectorKevin SmithStarsShannen DohertyJeremy LondonJason LeeBoth dumped by their girlfriends, two best friends seek refuge in the local mall.Kevin Smith is awesome
"Mallrats" is the second in line of ingenious achievements of Kevin Smith. Although with an almost identical cast, it is completely different than "Clerks" and it's hard to decide which one is better. But this one is definitely funnier. I like this movie so much that even Shannen Doherty, whom I cannot stand, becomes lovable in it. It is smart, witty, entertaining, with a bunch of great actors and unforgettable quotes. Jay and Silent Bob, from supporting role, come closer to the first team and you simply have to love them. After this, you cannot wait to see them again in the next movie. I want to rate it 10/10, but I have to at least try to maintain a certain level of objectivity, because this definitely isn't one of the best movies in the history of cinematography. But it is one of the dearests for sure.
8,5/10 - DirectorMatthew GissingMalcolm IngramStarsJason LeeRenée HumphreyJason MewesA young man, with the help of his unsuspecting roommates, hikes through the Canadian wilderness in search of Sasquatch.Good for that budget
During "Mallrats" shooting, two friends of Kevin Smith, Malcolm Ingram, and Matt Gissing, recruited "Mallrats" cast for their own project. This is extremely low-budget black and white movie, in which, at least as a cameo, appear almost whole cast of "Mallrats". IMDb says it is a comedy, but it's crap. This has almost nothing to do with comedy. It is drama/adventure, with a pretty good story, and Jason Lee carries it beautifully. The rest of the crew is good too, but their characters are not so well developed. Technically, the movie is pretty bad, with an unbalanced sound that almost disappears few times, and all together it leaves an overall impression of an amateur movie, or maybe homework of first-year film student. But there are some great shots too. For some reason, most of the rips on the internet have first 15 minutes missing, but full 76 minutes version can easily be found to watch online. And do not even try to search for subtitles in any language. I warmly recommend using headphones to be able to understand all the lines. If you are not View Askew fan you should probably skip this, but if you like Kevin Smith movies, you are a fan of "Clerks" or even "Blair Witch Project", I think you'll find it worthy of your time.
7/10 - DirectorKevin SmithStarsBen AffleckJoey Lauren AdamsEthan SupleeHolden and Banky are comic book artists. Everything's going good for them until they meet Alyssa, also a comic book artist. Holden falls for her, but his hopes are crushed when he finds out she's a lesbian. This is one of very few movies where I won't even try to be objective. I saw it many times and every time I'm looking forward to it, enjoy it and when it ends I'm left speechless. Near the top of the list of my favorite movies of all time.
<3 10/10 <3 - DirectorKevin SmithStarsBen AffleckMatt DamonLinda FiorentinoAn abortion clinic worker with a special heritage is called upon to save the existence of humanity from being negated by two renegade angels trying to exploit a loop-hole and reenter Heaven.More than a few times I had misfortune to see and review movies with so many flaws that I gave up on reviewing them cause it would end up as novel of epic proportions. But here's one completely opposite. This movie I could praise for hours without danger of being left with no material. I saw it many times and I'll see it many times more. And every time I get excited like the first, cause this movie is simply perfect. Everything from opening credits and font to ending credits is just right. Kevin smith is, in my opinion, one of the most original and creative writers and directors of our time. Story is perfect, at the same time exciting and relaxing, intelligent and silly, full of positive energy, satire and humour, with genius dialogues. Movie gathers many top actors, musicians and stand-up comedians, and all of them, in spite of relatively low budget, decided to participate in this project with all their hearts and gave amazing performances. List of actors itself is reason enough to see this film. Movie that holds strong messages and depth behind screen of silly comedy.
10/10
Movie caused controversy and disapproval cause it appears to make fun of faith, but it's just at first glance. Smith himself is a believer and his intention was not to make mockery of faith, but to use funny approach to bring it closer to younger generations that are repelled by rigidity of Church, and at the same time to hit negative aspects of Catholic dogma with some good satire. That's why it is important to see this movie without prejudice, so you don't end up caught in trap of misunderstanding and hating or loving it for wrong reasons.
George Carlin, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Linda Fiorentino, Jason Lee, Alan Rickman, Jason Mewes, Kevin Smith, Chris Rock, Salma Hayek, Alanis Morissette - DirectorKevin SmithStarsJason MewesKevin SmithAmy NobleThe comic "Bluntman and Chronic" is based on real-life stoners Jay and Silent Bob, so when they get no profit from a big-screen adaptation, they set out to wreck the movie.Kevin Smith is genius and this is masterpiece. Comedy that tells original story by spoofing or/and paying homage to cult movies in almost every scene. To understand this movie completely it is recommended that you saw really big amount of movies, including all previous Kevin Smith flicks. I saw this one countless times and every time I discover some new jokes, because in the meantime I saw more movies it refers to. Sarcastic, full of vulgar and dark humor, but intelligent, cheerful, hilarious and romantic. You'll see army of celebrities, music is great, and even opening and end credits are worth watching carefully, cause there's bunch of jokes hidden in even smallest details. Low average rating means only that most of viewers did not pay enough attention or they don't have enough pre- knowledge to be able to understand it fully. It looks like just another silly comedy, but it's complex and has its depth and meaning.

Music: Steppenwolf, Bon Jovi, Run-D.M.C., PJ Harvey, The Bee Gees, The Dandy Warhols, The Time, AFROMAN, few cool original songs and much more :D - DirectorKevin SmithStarsBen AffleckLiv TylerRaquel CastroA widower must look after his precocious daughter and rebuild his life and career after he's sidelined by an unexpected tragedy and a personal blowup.Typically Kevin Smith's cast in a movie completely atypical for him. Although this probably is the weakest link in a chain of his awesome flicks, it is still very lovable. This story was told countless times before on big screen and even more often in TV movies, but even such outworn plot in hands of Smith and his crew simply must glow.
6/10 for overall quality
10/10 for cuteness - DirectorSusannah GrantStarsJennifer GarnerTimothy OlyphantKevin SmithA woman struggles to accept the death of her fiancé and the secrets he kept from her as she rebuilds her life. This is typical Hollywood tra-la-la flick. There is no single reason to watch this, but I do not have any objections either. It is decent movie for its genre. I saw it only because Kevin Smith and Juliette Lewis are in it and I'm not sorry.

9/10 - DirectorKevin SmithStarsSeth RogenElizabeth BanksCraig RobinsonLifelong platonic friends Zack and Miri look to solve their respective cash-flow problems by making an adult film together. As the cameras roll, however, the duo begin to sense that they may have more feelings for each other than they previously thought.I don't know how objective I'm capable to be when it comes to Kevin Smith movies, but to me this was awesome. Essentially, this is classic romance comedy, but wrapped in completely unusual package. Politically incorrect, vulgar, perverse, and most of all fun. I'm sorry I didn't see it back when it was released, cause I would know it by heart by now. Roommates and best friends since childhood, Zack and Miri, have seemingly hopeless financial troubles, so they decide to get back on their feet by making a porno. If I still didn't persuade you to see this flick, I will just say that lead roles in their porno, beside of course themselves, play Jason Mewes, Katie Morgan and Traci Lords. Now, if you have no idea who are at least some of the legends I mentioned above, then you shouldn't watch this movie and feel free to continue living under your puritan rock. :P
9/10 - DirectorNoel ClarkeMark DavisStarsEmma RobertsTamsin EgertonOphelia Lovibond4 girls out on a 3 days trip in to 2 cities, if they survive. While Jo is working in a supermarket, her 3 friends are all out on their adventures. A chance encounter with diamond thieves sends them on a collision course with fate itself.Four girlfriends, each in their own troubles over head, are involved in the theft of diamonds, which they are not even aware of. Movie tells four separate stories, each being close up for one of the girls. Then stories begin to intertwine and merge into a common finale. Interesting, but in every way mediocre. I'm giving one additional point because this is Noel's second directing and movie has low budget for today's standards. My secret crush in Emma Roberts did not affect my rating, I promise.
7/10 - DirectorKevin SmithStarsBruce WillisTracy MorganJuan Carlos HernándezJimmy's rare baseball card is robbed. Since it's his only hope to pay for his daughter's upcoming wedding, he recruits his cop partner Paul to track down the robber, a memorabilia-obsessed gangster. This is by far the worst film of Kevin Smith and it was immediately clear that he did not write it, but just directed. Being promoted as a comedy, I suppose it was conceived as a parody of "buddy cop" films of the '80s, but instead of being funny it turned out poor. They wanted to make a parody of the "buddy cop" films, but they made just one more "buddy cop" movie and a bad one. It is too vulgar for children, and too naive for adults, humor is forced, and the acting is lousy. In this last, particularly stands out Tracy Morgan, who is probably the most annoying occurrence in the world of acting. I though it can not be worse than in "30 Rock", but then I saw this. I suspect that his retarded buffoonery is an attempt to imitate Jim Carrey or Eddie Murphy, but without any style. Bruce Willis is good as usual, but he seems indifferent, as if he's there only to work off unpleasant obligation and get lost as soon as possible. Why did he agree to act in this is mystery to me. Still, I was not bored and the film left me with the taste of wasted potential. If someone with more talent and sense of humor fixes this scenario, and if Morgan is replaced by Marphy, or to be honest almost anyone else, perhaps a decent movie could be made from this, but this way I can not rate it higher than
4,5/10 - DirectorKevin SmithStarsMichael ParksMelissa LeoJohn GoodmanSet in Middle America, a group of teens receive an online invitation for sex, though they soon encounter fundamentalists with a much more sinister agenda.I'm huge fan of Kevin Smith and, although this movie is completely different from what we are used to expect from him, I enjoyed and liked it very much. However, I must admit that this is the worst (or least good) of his films. I couldn't say which genre it is. IMDb says crime/action/horror. Okay, crime it is, but it's not a typical crime flick in which the main hero or antihero cop is solving a case. There's some action too, but I think it's too exaggerated to call this film an action flick. There's no H of horror. It is not a thriller because there is no mystery that is resolved, nor is there any special twists, surprises or excitements, and characterization is too shallow for a drama. Essentially, the film has elements of all these genres, but not enough of any one of them to be genre-determined. It begins with horror cliche. Three boys schedule sex with an unknown woman via a mobile application and end up as hostages of religious fanatics. But here, every similarity with the horror ends and the anti-terrorist unit enters the story. I think the film is made as a criticism of both religious fanaticism and the way the US government is dealing with crisis situations. Acting is great, especially veterans Betty Aberlin and John Goodman. Camera, directing and sound are interesting, but far away from masterpiece. Must watch for true fans of Kevin Smith, and if you're not one do as you're pleased. If you watch this movie you won't regret it, but if you skip it you won't miss much.
7/10 - DirectorJamie TravisStarsAri GraynorLauren Miller RogenJustin LongFormer college frenemies Lauren and Katie move into a fabulous Gramercy Park apartment, and in order to make ends meet, the unlikely pair start a phone sex line together. Two seemingly completely different girls, who hate each other since college, by (un)happy circumstances become roommates and start their own hotline agency. Anything more than this would be spoilers. Lauren Miller-Rogen and Ari Graynor are really charismatic and you'll fall in love with them from the beginning. Movie starts quite boring and develops into mediocre comedy, but near the end I was laughing out-loud and because of it, although movie overall doesn't deserve it, I'll rate it

This time they went "down under" in Australia and did one hour show in front of a sell out audience in Sydney. I'm huge fan of these guys, but I must admit that series title suits the show - their humor is getting old. It's not bad, but I wouldn't pay money to see it.

Racial and homosexual jokes are implied.

I love Kevin Smith and I saw all of his movies, those he wrote, directed or acted in. Johnny Depp is possibly my favorite actor. I saw all of his too, even those in which he had just cameo appearances. Movie with Johnny in it, written and directed by Kevin Smith, for me is definite must watch. I thought I knew exactly what to expect from those two, but I was so wrong. This has no similarity with anything any of them ever did. IMDb says comedy, drama, horror, and although it has elements of each, I can not agree with that classification. True, there's humor, but if you are in for a comedy, you're in for extremely unpleasant surprise. Although it has elements of eighties B horror, this movie is not scary. It won't frighten you or keep you tense, but most of it is both psychologically and visually unpleasant. And whether you will characterize it as a drama, I think it depends on your subjective experience. It's surreal, awkward, nasty and sick. Whether you like it or not, it's certain you won't easily forget it.

I was looking at the IMB score and I was completely confused. Did we all watch the same movie? Then I entered reviews to find out what's it all about and now I'm not confused anymore - now I'm pissed! If you've never seen anything from Kevin Smith, or if you did and you did not like it, please, do not even try to watch "Yoga Hosers". This film is the second part of "The True North Trilogy" (the third part is still not out) and therefore requires that you see "Tusk" first. And for a true understanding and complete experience of any Kevin Smith film, it is required that you already saw all of his previous movies. If you did not, you have no right to give negative comments on this one. True, it's not a masterpiece on the level with "Chasing Amy" or "Dogma", but it's side by side with "Clerks" and "Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back".
"Yoga Hosers" takes place in the same "world" as "Tusk", and takes a part of the story and several characters from it. The film mocks the teens today and is full of references to many of Kevin's previous films, as well as a bunch of other stuff from pop culture. Johnny Depp has taken the role in this trilogy because "Chasing Amy" and "Jersey Girl" are his favorite films, and his daughter is the best friend of Kevin Smith's daughter since kindergarten. And guess who plays the main roles in this movie. If you saw "Tusk", perhaps you remember a teenage girls working as saleswomen in "Eh-2-Zed". These are Harley Quinn Smith, daughter of Kevin Smith, named after Joker's villain lover from "Batman", and Lily-Rose Depp, daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis (who also appears as a history teacher). There are also Depp's son Jack and Kevin's wife Jennifer, who's Harley's mother both in the movie and real life. Real family movie. There's also Kevin Smith himself, in the role I mustn't mention to avoid spoilers, as well as Adam Brody, Tyler Posey (Kevin is "Teen Wolf" fan and character Gordon Greenleaf is written specifically for Tyler), cameo appearance of Stan Lee, and of course Jason Mewes. The story is "so bad it's good", completely crazy and over the top, but what essentially makes this film ingenious is a continuous array of references to all sorts of things, that have led me to tears of laughter. So, gentleman haters, it isn't Smith who lost his genius, but you are the ones who got old in the meantime and lost your sense for humor.
8/10 - DirectorKevin SmithStarsHina AbdullahKristin BauerAdam BrodyTwo potheads battle a neighboring cookie magnate and enlist the help of a charming porn star to help them navigate the ups and downs of managing a small business in their quest for profits and the perfect bud.A pilot episode of a series that did not come to life. Based on these half an hour ... maybe it's better that it didn't. I love Kevin Smith, but it is increasingly evident that his genius rather faded. He is still good, but his recent accomplishments can not be even compared with the masterpieces he created in the nineties of the last century.
4/10 - DirectorKevin SmithStarsJoey Lauren AdamsBen AffleckFred ArmisenJay and Silent Bob inadvertently sign away their names and rights to the new Bluntman and Chronic movie. Now they head to Hollywood to stop the film from being made. Along the way Jay discovers that he is a father.A sequel, remake, and reboot that mocks sequels, remakes, and reboots
"Jay and Silent Bob Reboot" is the latest work by the cult Kevin Smith, in which he mercilessly mocks himself. The film is at the same time a sequel, remake and reboot of the "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" (2001), a homage and a parody of Smith's previous filmography, in which, as before, he mocks pop culture, but this time also his own movies, and even personality and private life. I've always had a fondness for people capable of making fun of themselves, especially when they're witty and ruthless, and the film, as I am a big fan of Kevin Smith, has also awakened nostalgia. But, as its name suggests, "Reboot" brings a little new and relies almost exclusively on a rehash of old jokes, aiming at the nostalgic emotions of the audience rather than their intellect. Compared to his early classics, which are never outdated and are equally fresh and fun even after many reruns, I must say that Kevin has lost the edge here. While it isn't bad, it's a quite forgettable and somewhat pathetic movie for one viewing.
