My favourite underrated films of all time
These are films that bombed at the box office and didn't do that great with critics alike so without further ado let's dive in. Some of them were successful movies and critics liked them others are just forgotten films that people forget about talking.

- DirectorRichard RichStarsJack PalanceHoward McGillinMichelle NicastroA power-hungry sorcerer curses a princess to live as a swan by day in this tale of everlasting love. This is a very underrated cult classic. I have it on VHS since I was a little girl and I still watch this movie. The animation was great, the music was nice. So what if it stoled elements of former Disney movies,so what that the story is corny and cliched,I don't care I just thought it was an overall feel good animated film that should get noticed more.
The voice acting was very good too and I like the song For Longer Than Forever. Avoid the sequels though as they are crap and mediocre at their best, but overall this film is very good and its a shame that its a forgettable cult classic. - DirectorJames MangoldStarsMeg RyanHugh JackmanLiev SchreiberAn English Duke from 1876 is inadvertently dragged to modern day New York where he falls for a plucky advertising executive. If you love Enchanted then this was the one that started it all(well I think so anyway). Hugh Jackman stars as a charming English Duke who is transported from 1876 to 2001 in New York City, where he falls in love with a jaded career woman named Kate McKay (played by former queen of the chick flicks Meg Ryan) who's ex boyfriend is a time traveller who was responsible for sending Leopold to the modern day world. As Kate & Leopold spend some time together, will they, or won't they ever get together despite the fact they are from different centuries?
This got 50% in Rotten Tomatoes and since its actual release the majority of critics found it rather confusing with the whole time travelling/Stuart and Leopold connection as check this Stuart(aka Liev Schivber)is actually related to Leopold as he is his great great grandfather. So of course the movie has a directors cut edition(which I have yet to witness) and if you have it on DVD,viewers can check out the original or the directors cut.
For me though I really like this movie as like Enchanted its hilarious and romantic. And to think Hugh Jackman(the man behind Wolverine)would star in a romantic comedy? This hottie from down under should star in more romantic comedies. Too bad it never happened.......yet anyway. - DirectorKevin LimaStarsAmy AdamsSusan SarandonJames MarsdenA young maiden in a land called Andalasia, who is prepared to be wed, is sent away to New York City by an evil Queen, where she falls in love with a lawyer. This charming fantasy stars Amy Adams who is transported from her cartoon world to modern day New York City in 2007 where she falls in love with a divorce lawyer played by Patrick Dempsey. This film did get alot of praise as it got 94% in Rotten Tomatoes but still though no one ever talks about this film anymore. Also it was rumored that there is a sequel of this film coming out. Well I hope there is.
Overall this film was brilliant and authentic. - DirectorAdam ShankmanStarsMandy MooreShane WestPeter CoyoteTwo North Carolina teens, Landon Carter and Jamie Sullivan, are thrown together after Landon gets into trouble and is sentenced to perform community service.Yup Mandy Moore enters my list once again and this should have won an Oscar as the performances were Oscar Worthy. Moore especially was brilliant as Jamie Sullivan and Shane West(who is also underrated as I haven't seen him in any films for a while now)was great as her love interest Landon Carter. Hankies ready for this one too. Can't believe it got only 27% in Rotten Tomatoes. It surely did bomb.
- DirectorJulie Anne RobinsonStarsMiley CyrusLiam HemsworthGreg KinnearA rebellious girl is sent to a Southern beach town for the summer to stay with her father. Through their mutual love of music, the estranged duo learn to reconnect.Nicholas Sparks movies are very underrated so its no surprise that two of his movies makes my list. This one was very heartwarming and Miley Cyrus I used to be a fan of her's as she was great in this movie and Greg Kinnear practically stoled this film as Cyrus's ill father.
- DirectorGary TrousdaleKirk WiseStarsDemi MooreJason AlexanderMary Kay BergmanA deformed bell-ringer must assert his independence from a vicious government minister in order to help his friend, a gypsy dancer. This was the ONLY Disney movie ever made to have received a Razzie for Worst Screenplay. Seriously I thought the screenplay was grand. I loved the score, the music, the charchters everything. Also it has the best villian of all time since Scar,Frollo who is a real creep.
- DirectorJon TurteltaubStarsSandra BullockBill PullmanPeter GallagherA hopelessly romantic Chicago Transit Authority ticket booth operator is mistaken for the fiancée of a comatose patient. My favourite romantic comedy of all time, this did do well with critics as it got a 80% score in Rotten Tomatoes but overall it is very underrated as hardly anybody talks about this film.
- DirectorAndy CadiffStarsMandy MooreMatthew GoodeMark HarmonAnna wants to be like other girls her age (18): date a guy etc. but she's the US president's daughter and always guarded. In Prague he breaks his promise of only 2 agents following her to a concert and she runs away with Ben to see Europe. This film is extremely underrated as it only got 19% in Rotten Tomatoes. Well at least its better than First Daughter which had a terrible ending by the way. I was always a fan of Mandy Moore's and she is a very underrated singer/actress. Here I thought she was great and her chemistry with Leap year star Matthew Goode was nicely done.
- DirectorAnne FletcherStarsSandra BullockRyan ReynoldsMary SteenburgenA pushy boss forces her young assistant to marry her in order to keep her visa status in the U.S. and avoid deportation to Canada.Sandra Bullock. My favourite actress. I loved this film since I seen it back in 2009 as I got the DVD of it and to be honest it reminds me of While You Were Sleeping in a way as both of her charcthers aren't lucky with love, they pretend to be engaged to someone and the guy they are engaged to their grandmother is apparently dying. Overall though a very funny movie.
- DirectorGary WinickStarsJennifer GarnerMark RuffaloJudy GreerUnpopular schoolgirl Jenna Rink makes an unusual wish on her birthday. Miraculously, her wish comes true and the 13-year-old Jenna wakes up the next day as a 30-year-old woman. This body-swapping film stars former Mrs Ben Affleck Jennifer Garner as a teen who wishes to be older and more popular. But when her wish to be 30 comes true. She realizes that being an adult isn't as great as she had hoped it would be.I for one enjoyed this film as it had a nice story attached to it,and the acting was great. I think both Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo are extremely underrated actors as I thought they did a great job with the chemistry and as their charcthers.
- DirectorChris ColumbusStarsRobin WilliamsEmbeth DavidtzSam NeillAn android endeavors to become human as he gradually acquires emotions. This Sci Fi drama stars the late Robin Williams as a robot who wants to become human and later falls in love with a woman who is the dead ringer of Little Miss.
I seen this film so many times before and recently got it on DVD last Xmas. The special effects are very good, and Williams did a great job as both the robot and the human form of Andrew Martin. With music from the late James Horner this film is definitely worth the watch. From the director that brought us Mrs Doubtfire. Ps you might need tissues for this one.
