GOUT is a PAINFUL form of ARTHRITIS!
Gout is a form of arthritis, which affects the joints due to uric acid forming crystals in the blood, instead of going to urine. The uric acid can also enter tendons and tissues. If high uric acid is present (hyperuricemia), it will enter the joints, which will cause significant pain in the joints, such as big toe, knees, hands, and elbows. Symptoms include swelling and stiffness. Gout tends to occur overnight, which can last a few days to a few weeks. Male suffer from gout more than females; however, pregnant women may also suffer from gout. Gout was described as “rich men’s disease” since they could afford white meat and wine. If left untreated, gout can form into lumps, tophi, which indicate joint damage.
