Rheumatoid Arthritis
Rheumatoid Arthritis is an autoimmune disease that causes inflammation in the joints, organs, lungs, around the whites of the eyes, the heart, bones, cartilage, parts of the skin. While RA normally harms the joints, it can affect other organs, which has been reported in 15 to 25 percent of clients with this condition. Elderly age is said to be one of the main factors of RA, but anyone of any age could develop this condition, even children as well. RA is said to contribute to deaths 38,000 in 2013, which is up from 28,000 deaths in 1990.
Treatment includes getting X-rays, MRIs, synovial fluid analysis, using a legalize form of steroids by physician, taking DMARDs medication, painkillers, ant-inflammatory drugs, splints, braces, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and dietary changes, such as lack of fatty foods and alcohol consumption.
Symptoms of RA includes excruciating pain, stiffness, and swelling in the joints, which may be described as a person's hands being glued to a burning iron. Other symptoms include fatigue, morning stiffness, loss of appetite, loss of joint function, loss of weight, fever, malaise, and etc. RA might be mistaken for gout arthritis since both conditions attacks the joints, which can lead to tophi (lumps) present in the skin. RA may also be linked to heart attack, strokes, and lymphoma, which is quite rare.
