At a house-party, Collette disguises herself as one of Larry's old girl friends in an attempt to test his love and loyalty. After considerable confusion and misadventure, Colette and Larry perceive their mutual love and make plans actually to be married.

In Paris, she hooks up with a Prince, who is a prince of a fellow and never strays far from his mother's side, but Lawton shows up again and makes some unwanted advances and the Prince comes to her aid, and Lawton ends up apparently somewhat dead when the Prince tosses him out a window, but Cynthia takes the rap as she feels it wouldn't be nice to separate a boy from his mother. Then, Randolph shows up. And Lawton shows up...again.

Carl, trailed by revenue officers, shifts blame to Hilda, a chambermaid whom he has deceived, and she meets Betty in jail. Soapy plans a jail wedding for Carl and Betty as a publicity stunt, but Tom exposes Carl and wins Betty's hand.

When she is rescued by Philip, Consuelo, fearing that Juan will kill Philip if she betrays her lover for the American, feigns love for the touchy Latin and asks Philip to help them elope. Philip gallantly assists them to the border and returns to Alcorta; Consuelo tells Juan that she will still consent to marriage but that she can never love him, since she loves Philip instead. Not to be shamed by Philip's gallantry, Juan decides to step aside. He is returning to Alcorta to give himself up when he is shot by Senator Cornejo.

Later, during a dinner party at the Tidmarshes', Gordon is mistaken for a lord and, when the real nobleman appears, is denounced as an impostor. The police are called, and while awaiting their arrival, Gordon prevents Deacon's attempt to rob the Tidmarsh safe. With the appearance of Jenks, who discloses that the quest for his search was to deliver a large inheritance to Gordon, Marjory declares her love for the Scotsman and all ends happily.

May's charade also alienates Underwood, but she clarifies the situation that evening at a jazz party at Underwood's apartment, and both pairs of lovers are reunited.

Wingate dynamites the mine and the mansion; Margot and Lorraine's husband arrive in time to hear Lorraine thank John for the lesson before she dies; Margot and John are reconciled. Conflicting synopses create doubt that Lorraine actually dies in the explosion.

When a will is discovered naming Tim as the rightful heir to Clark's Field, Adele and Arnolfo hurry to New York, and Arnolfo tries to steal the will, then dies in a hotel fire. All dispute over the land is ended when Tim and Adele are united.

Joining the fast set, Pat is soon branded as the campus flirt; realizing her foolishness, she sets out to vindicate herself by joining the track team. Before a meet, Graham Stearns abducts Adams, and Pat, in rescuing him, is herself detained. Knute rescues her in time for the race, and, in a screaming finish with chasing policemen, Paddock saves the event by running the last lap.

To escape an awkward situation, Leon poses as Ginette's father, then forces Maraval to assert himself as the girl's lover; with complications resolved, the lovers are united.

Corney recovers the check, however, and Patterson institutes a damaging libel suit against the paper. Dorothy gets the check back and obtains photographic evidence to further incriminate Patterson and Corney. Dorothy and Joe decide to write the story of their life with each another.

Because Naab has refused to sell, Holderness begins a feud, taking Mescal prisoner and killing her prospective bridegroom Snap, who has followed her into the desert. As the leader of the law-abiding community, Naab, with a group of sympathetic Indians, burns down the neighboring town serving as a hideout for Holderness and his gang. Mescal is rescued and returned to Jack.

She chooses to sacrifice him and is herself temporarily blinded as a consequence. Peggy is nursed back to health by Grace, who wins her sympathy and respect. When Billy unexpectedly shows up unharmed, Peggy sends him back to his wife, giving up her happiness for that of the couple she has come to love.
