Richard Burton - A talent never quite fulfilled.
Richard Burton is remembered more for his high profile marriage to Elizabeth Taylor than for his acting career. Initially taking the British theatre by storm, Burton eventually sold himself short by appearing in films which weren't worthy of him and where he made little effort to act. To give him credit, Burton delivered the goods on occasion: "Look Back in Anger," "Equus," "Night of the Iguana," "Doctor Faustus" and "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf" among others. However, his mediocrity in films continued till his final days. What can't be taken away from Richard Burton, is his highly distinctive voice.
