Bond Films Best to Worst
Sean Connery 1 Connery set the foundation for what was to come
and encompassed all aspects of the Bond character
that we identify with better than any that followed.
Daniel Craig 2 Craig is the darkest and most human of the Bonds
and his films reflect that and not since Connery
have we had a Bond so memorable but his films
are more serious which makes his character not
quite as engaging or fun as Connery.
Roger Moore 3 His films are the most inconsistent and silliest at
times but I find him quite appealing even in his
bad films.
Timothy Dalton 4 Tough call for me between Dalton and Lazenby
but I did think he was quite effective in his 2nd
outing and for that reason I'll give him the edge
but there's no denying that the bottom 3 aren't
in the same league as the top 3.
George Lazenby 5 He may not have the charisma or charm of
Connery or Moore but I found him acceptable in
his one stint at Bond and felt he suited the
material perhaps better than either of those 2
but Craig might have been perfect for the role.
Pierce Brosnan 6 For me it's not even close, there's just something
about Brosnan that rubs me the wrong way and
he is by far the worst of the Bonds.

- DirectorTerence YoungStarsSean ConneryRobert ShawLotte LenyaJames Bond willingly falls into an assassination plot involving a naive Russian beauty in order to retrieve a Soviet encryption device that was stolen by S.P.E.C.T.R.E.Connery is at his best and makes this the most entertaining film in the series with some of the better villains in Robert Shaw and Lotte Lenya,a memorable cat fight and some terrific quips throughout.
9 - DirectorTerence YoungStarsSean ConneryClaudine AugerAdolfo CeliJames Bond heads to the Bahamas to recover two nuclear warheads stolen by S.P.E.C.T.R.E. Agent Emilio Largo in an international extortion scheme.Deserves another viewing since its been about 15 years since I last saw it to see if it still holds up...after seeing it again I can see people not liking this one as much but for me it's about as good as it gets for this franchise with only the underwater fight scene being a little disappointing.
9 - DirectorPeter R. HuntStarsGeorge LazenbyDiana RiggTelly SavalasBritish agent James Bond goes undercover to pursue the villainous Ernst Stavro Blofeld, who is planning to hold the world to ransom.Has some of the best action scenes in the whole series and a more human story which was probably better suited for Lazenby than Connery and for me at least helped make him an acceptable Bond if not a memorable one and had my favorite Bond girl in Diana Rigg even if she wasn't in the traditional sense what one comes to expect from that title.
9 - DirectorSam MendesStarsDaniel CraigJavier BardemNaomie HarrisJames Bond's loyalty to M is tested when her past comes back to haunt her. When MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost. The odd ones are the great ones when it comes to Craig so my hopes are high for the 5th installment but this was one of the darker films in the series and had Javier Bardem as one of the all time great villians...Casino and Quantum were a little better 2nd time around this one was about the same but I do think story wise this might be the best.
9 - DirectorMartin CampbellStarsDaniel CraigEva GreenJudi DenchAfter earning 00 status and a licence to kill, secret agent James Bond sets out on his first mission as 007. Bond must defeat a private banker funding terrorists in a high-stakes game of poker at Casino Royale, Montenegro.Craig brought much needed life to a franchise that was pretty much dead to me after the Brosnan films...after seeing it again Eva Green deserves mention as well as one of the best Bond girls in the franchise and was certainly Craig's equal in the film...I loved the verbal sparring between the two.
9 - DirectorGuy HamiltonStarsSean ConneryJill St. JohnCharles GrayA diamond smuggling investigation leads James Bond to Las Vegas where he uncovers an evil plot involving a rich business tycoon. It's certainly the most tongue and cheek of the Connery Bond films and a part of me thinks it would of been better suited for Moore but I found it highly entertaining and one of the most memorable in the series.
9 - DirectorGuy HamiltonStarsSean ConneryGert FröbeHonor BlackmanWhile investigating a gold magnate's smuggling, James Bond uncovers a plot to contaminate the Fort Knox gold reserve.I'm always amazed when I see this film that I don't like it more because it has everything from the nifty gadgets to some of the better villains and certainly one of the better Bond girls in Blackman and perhaps the best song of the franchise but for whatever reason it's never as entertaining to me as the best in the series but it's close.
8 - DirectorTerence YoungStarsSean ConneryUrsula AndressBernard LeeA resourceful British government agent seeks answers in a case involving the disappearance of a colleague and the disruption of the American space program. The first in the series is almost tame when compared to the others that's memorable more for the beach scene with Ursula Andress who for many is the ultimate Bond girl and perhaps even overshadows Connery introduction as the master spy.
8 - DirectorLewis GilbertStarsRoger MooreBarbara BachCurd JürgensJames Bond investigates the hijacking of British and Russian submarines carrying nuclear warheads, with the help of a K.G.B. agent whose lover he killed. After re-watching many of Moore's films I found most of them haven't aged well with the tongue and cheek approach to the films missing as much as hitting but Moore himself suited the material even if it didn't always work and made even the weaker ones in the series bearable at least...his films are the most inconsistent...this is a film I haven't seen in over 20 years and needs to be seen again because I have a feeling it won't hold up...after seeing it again it has gone down a notch but overall I still think it's his best in the series and he's helped out a lot by one of the better Bond girls in Barbara Bach and one of the more memorable villains in Jaws, for me it's the last 20 or so minutes that ruin this film from being as great as I once thought simply because the final shootout wasn't all that exciting and Barabra Bach sadly was relegated to being a damsel in distress.
8 - DirectorJohn GlenStarsTimothy DaltonRobert DaviCarey LowellA vengeful James Bond goes rogue to infiltrate and take down the organization of a drug lord who has murdered his friend's new wife and left him near death.I've almost completely forgotten about Timothy Dalton's stint as Bond and I have to admit I haven't seen them since they came out but I do seem to remember liking the edgier approach to the character and thought he did a decent job in the role but there's no denying I need to see them again...after seeing it again it holds up extremely well and in many ways set the foundation for the edgier films with Craig.
8 - DirectorGuy HamiltonStarsRoger MooreChristopher LeeBritt EklandJames Bond is targeted by the world's most expensive assassin, while he attempts to recover sensitive solar cell technology that is being sold to the highest bidder.Christopher Lee helped make this one of Moore's best.
8 - DirectorIrvin KershnerStarsSean ConneryKim BasingerKlaus Maria BrandauerA S.P.E.C.T.R.E. agent has stolen two American nuclear warheads, and James Bond must find their targets before they are detonated.More of a guilty pleasure in seeing an over-age Connery coming back and playing the role and doing so I thought effectively but it's been a while since I've seen this rip-off of Thunderball so probably needs to be seen again...after seeing it again it's the villains that help make this film so enjoyable Brandauer and Carrera shine and rank with the best in the franchise but it is good to see Connery back in the role even if he was to old,I do wish the story would have reflected his age instead of still viewing him as god's gift to women which was silly to say the least.
8 - DirectorGuy HamiltonStarsRoger MooreYaphet KottoJane SeymourJames Bond is sent to stop a diabolically brilliant heroin magnate armed with a complex organisation and a reliable psychic tarot card reader.I actually think this might have played better without the tongue and cheek approach to the material.
7 - DirectorMarc ForsterStarsDaniel CraigOlga KurylenkoMathieu AmalricJames Bond descends into mystery as he tries to stop a mysterious organisation from eliminating a country's most valuable resource.I actually think the film plays better when you watch it after Casino so that film is still fresh in your mind but other than Craig there's very little that's memorable about this Bourne type Bond film although I did enjoy it more 2nd time around.
7 - DirectorJohn GlenStarsRoger MooreCarole BouquetTopolSecret service agent James Bond is assigned to find a missing British vessel equipped with a weapons encryption device and prevent it from falling into enemy hands.Needs to be seen again
7 - DirectorLewis GilbertStarsSean ConneryAkiko WakabayashiMie HamaJames Bond and the Japanese Secret Service must find and stop the true culprit of a series of space hijackings, before war is provoked between Russia and the United States.Needs to be seen again because I don't remember much about it other than the great volcano set piece...after seeing it again it's a disappointment in which very little works except for the volcano set piece and the mini chopper scene and I have to say this might be the only film in the series where I questioned why when you have the chance to kill Bond you don't do it...suspension of disbelief is at times a prerequisite to enjoying Bond films and this was one where I was unable to do it.
6 - DirectorMichael AptedStarsPierce BrosnanSophie MarceauRobert CarlyleJames Bond uncovers a nuclear plot while protecting an oil heiress from her former kidnapper, an international terrorist who can't feel pain.Brosnan's Bond films seem to be a combination of Connery's and Moore's and none of them have really worked for me mainly because I find Bronson to be a rather bland and unappealing Bond even though he looks the part which is somewhat baffling to me.
6 - DirectorLee TamahoriStarsPierce BrosnanHalle BerryRosamund PikeJames Bond is sent to investigate the connection between a North Korean terrorist and a diamond mogul, who is funding the development of an international space weapon. This was the Brosnan film that had potential and than it got silly with some over the top action scenes that pretty much ruined the film but I haven't seen it since it came out and deserves another viewing...2nd viewing pretty much as I remembered,I would give the first half an 8 and the 2nd half a 5,it just felt like 2 different movies.
6 - DirectorJohn GlenStarsRoger MooreMaud AdamsLouis JourdanA fake Fabergé egg recovered from the body of a fellow agent leads James Bond to uncover a jewel smuggling operation led by the mysterious Octopussy, and a plot to blow up a NATO air base.I just didn't find myself all that engaged and found it to be one of Moore's weaker films in the franchise.
6 - DirectorRoger SpottiswoodeStarsPierce BrosnanJonathan PryceMichelle YeohJames Bond sets out to stop a media mogul's plan to induce war between China and the UK in order to obtain exclusive global media coverage.Michelle Yeoh was the best thing about this Bond film.
6 - DirectorJohn GlenStarsTimothy DaltonMaryam d'AboJeroen KrabbéJames Bond is sent to investigate a KGB policy to kill all enemy spies, and uncovers an arms deal that potentially has major global ramifications.Dalton's not the edgy Bond I thought he was and other than passing the time there's not much here...the action scenes aren't that exciting, the villains and one Bond girl aren't memorable and the title song is forgettable.
6 - DirectorSam MendesStarsDaniel CraigChristoph WaltzLéa SeydouxA cryptic message from James Bond's past sends him on a trail to uncover the existence of a sinister organisation named SPECTRE. With a new threat dawning, Bond learns the terrible truth about the author of all his pain in his most recent missions.I just think this is a badly made film that doesn't seem to know what it wants to be, at times it feels like a parody and not a very good one... the worst of the Craig Bond films by far that disappoints even more 2nd time around.
5 - DirectorCary Joji FukunagaStarsDaniel CraigAna de ArmasRami MalekJames Bond has left active service. His peace is short-lived when Felix Leiter, an old friend from the CIA, turns up asking for help, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.Sadly Craig's last Bond film is a dud that's far longer than needed and not very engaging with an ending that seemed apparent early on...Craig may be the best Bond since Connery but only 2 of the 5 films he's made are memorable.
5 - DirectorMartin CampbellStarsPierce BrosnanSean BeanIzabella ScorupcoYears after a friend and fellow 00 agent is killed on a joint mission, a secret space based weapons program known as "GoldenEye" is stolen. James Bond is assigned to stop a Russian crime syndicate from using the weapon.I just never found Brosnan all that convincing in the role and the film just wasn't very entertaining to me.
5 - DirectorLewis GilbertStarsRoger MooreLois ChilesMichael LonsdaleJames Bond investigates the mid-air theft of a space shuttle, and discovers a plot to commit global genocide. This is probably the silliest of the franchise.
5 - DirectorJohn GlenStarsRoger MooreChristopher WalkenTanya RobertsThe recovery of a microchip from the body of a fellow British secret agent leads James Bond to a mad industrialist scheming to cause massive destruction.Roger Moore made the worst Bond films and yet he was probably the only reason to watch them and that even in his 50's he was better in the role than most of the others who played the part.
