In reality, Bruce, attempting to keep his courtship with Madeline a secret, was retrieving a love letter that he had written the Admiral's daughter. Madeline, suspecting Ito, the house servant, of stealing the plans, takes advantage of the fact that the servant is in love with her and visits his room that night. He shows her the plans which he boasts will bring him a fortune so that the two can elope. Madeline then attempts to gain possession of the papers, and in the ensuing struggle, Ito is stabbed to death. The supposition that he has committed "hari kari" avoids any further investigation, the plans are returned, and the lieutenant wins the consent of the admiral to marry Madeline.

For his efforts, Bob is arrested and found guilty of defrauding the stock holders, and also charged with being notorious outlaw Pat Duncan. After several adventures, Bob succeeds in capturing the real Duncan, vindicates himself of the charges and wins Betty for his bride.

When Nance sells the property, she gains a respectable income, as well as the respect of the community and her future mother-in-law.

Pop decides to deed the house to his fortune-hunting wife and returns to Arizona with Pinto, who, still a cowgirl, is accompanied by Bob De Witt.

Obliging her, Dabney soon finds himself falling in love with his captor, thus presenting a conflict between his duty to his dead sister and his love for Elenore. This dilemma is resolved when Colonna finally dies from his wounds, freeing the couple to begin a new life in the valley of tomorrow.

After a trade of prisoners, Dan trails the outlaws and exterminates the entire gang except for Silent. The two adversaries then slug it out, with Dan strangling his tormentor. His revenge accomplished, Dan is somewhat tamed and settles down with Kate.

Realizing that her love for Michael has extinguished her desire for crime, Kate returns the gold, is exonerated and weds Michael.

At the bank he finds Spivins bound while Fred and the clerk are robbing the safe; Billy is locked in the safe, and all efforts to save him prove futile until the wall is kicked out by the mule. Through the efforts of Willie Spivins, the bank is dynamited, but all ends happily.
