I was really surprised in the interview that Jonathan Ross had with Sylvester Stallone earlier this year and what surprised me most is just how intellegent Sly is - he conducted the interview by asking personal and professional questions about his life with well thought out answers and he even took the piss out of himself which is very rare for an actor to do that nowadays.
Overall, I was very impressed with Sly's interview and found it hilarious when he was giving marks out of 10 for his own Rocky movies which he had starred in, he gave the first Rocky movie 10 out of 10 and stated that he was his favourite, the second and third movies, he gave about 8 out of 10 and the fourth, he gave 7 out of 10 but it was Rocky V which proved to be his least favourite movie and he gave it a resounding 0 out of 10, luckily Rocky VI restored the credibility and commercial clout and was a fitting finale for the franchise to go out on (he gave Rocky VI a 9 out of 10).
His comical streak was evident when he gave an interview in 1997 around the time Copland came out and he stated that he didn't know what he had been doing for the last 20 years, he stated that it was as if he had been acting in intellegent movies up until Rocky in 1976 and for the next 20 years, he played it safe and acted, wrote and directed in some no-brainer movies which he was lured to by the financial rewards and he stated that Copland was the first gritty movie with an excellent script that he had read in over 20 years, Sly also had to take a massive paycut in salary but he stated at the time that it was worth it because Copland pushed him and his acting abilities like they hadn't been pushed since the mid 1970s.
It would be nice to think that as Sly approaches his seventies, that he'll take on more gritty, thought provoking movies like he did with Copland in 1997, but on the whole, I think Sly is one of the most intellegent and comical actors around and with his talents, he'll continue to have success after success.
