If you really judge someone like Kazan by his personal life and what he did then you have no appreciation nor understanding for film. Kazan is one of the greatest directors to ever have lived. Please, go watch On the Waterfront and East of Eden at least and pay attention to what he's orchestrating there behind the scenes. Not to mention he's one of the only directors to have directors the Big Three - Brando, Dean and Clift.
Now, you may not Roman Polanski, and I may not like him either, but that didn't stop the Academy from giving him an Oscar for the Pianisit, even though he clearly wouldn't be there because he's a fugitive. A good artist is a good artist.
So get over it and don't watch movies that actually mean something if you can't deal with the moral compass of the people behind them.
