- (March 25, 1999 - August 22, 1999) Starred as Anna in the Broadway premier of Patrick Marber's "Closer", at the Music Box Theatre. For her performance, she received a Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Play.
- (February 13, 1998 - August 2, 1998) Played the lead role of Sally Bowles in the Broadway revival of "Cabaret", directed by Sam Mendes and Rob Marshall at the Kit Kat Klub, New York City. For her performance she won a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical and a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical.
- Made her Broadway debut, opposite future husband Liam Neeson, in a production of Eugene O'Neill's "Anna Christie" at the Criterion Center Stage Right. The play was produced by The Roundabout Theatre Company and directed by David Leveaux (Jan 14, 1993 - Feb 28, 1993). She received a Tony Award nomination, a Drama Desk Award nomination and won a Theatre World Award for her performance.
- Under the direction of Trevor Nunn she appeared at London's Almeida Theatre's first production following their refurbishment, as "Ellida" in Henrik Ibsen's "The Lady From the Sea" in May 2003. This was a role that Richardson's mother, Vanessa Redgrave, played 25 years ago.
- (April 26, 2005 - July 3, 2005) Starred as Blanche DuBois in The Roundabout Theatre Company's Broadway revival of "A Streetcar Named Desire" at Studio 54.
- Played Tracey in the musical "High Society" - Leicester Haymarket Theatre/ Victoria Palace Theatre, London (1986-7).
- Played "Ophelia" in William Shakespeare's "Hamlet" - Young Vic, London (1985).
- Played "Helena" in William Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" - Regent's Park Open Air Theatre, London (1985).
- Played "Nina" in Anton Chekhov's "The Seagull" - Queen's Theatre, London (1985).
- In 1983 she appeared in three plays at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds: "On The Razzle" by Tom Stoppard, "Top Girls" by Caryl Churchill and "Charley's Aunt" by Brandon Thomas.
- (February 1985) She acted in William Shakespeare's play, "Hamlet", at the Young Vic Theatre in London, England with Matthew Marsh, Jonathan Burn, Heather Canning, Michael Cronin and Andy Secombe in the cast. David Thacker was the director.
- (2003) She acted in Pam Gems' translation of Henrik Ibsen's play, "The Lady from the Sea", at the Almeida Theatre in London, England with Eoin McCarthy, Geoffrey Hutchings, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tim McInnerny, Claudie Blakley and John Bowe in the cast. Trevor Nunn was the director.
- (1985) She acted in Anton Chekhov's play, "The Seagull", at the Queens Theatre in London, England with Vanessa Redgrave, Jonathan Pryce, John Lynch and Alfred Burke in the cast. Charles Sturridge was the director.
- (1987) She acted in Cole Porter's musical, "High Society", at the Victoria Palace Theatre in London, England with Trevor Eve, Stephen Rea, Angela Richards and Ronald Fraser in the cast.
- (2002) Sang "Silly Lullaby" for the "Original Cast Recording" CD of the "Imaginary Musical Revue" "Philadelphia Chickens" written, directed, and produced by Sandra Boynton. A portion of the proceeds from the CD and attached Lyrics Book goes to The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
