Only one episode remains in Season 3 of “Chucky,” and what a bloody road it’s been so far, especially for actor Devon Sawa. The actor has now officially died twice on screen this season, pulling double duty as President James Collins and body double Randall Jenkins.
If you thought Chucky’s ruthless eye-gouging of the President was bloody, this week’s Episode 7 traps Randall Jenkins in an elevator that feels straight out of an iconic horror classic.
Bloody Disgusting spoke with series creator Don Mancini and actor Devon Sawa about that ultra-bloody death sequence and how the actor inspires Mancini’s writing on the series.
Mancini explains, “Devon’s a bit of a muse. Idle Hands and Final Destination is where my Devon Sawa fandom started, like a lot of people; although yours may have started with Casper. I was a bit too old for that. But it’s really...

Warning: Spoilers ahead for “Chucky” Season 3: Episode 6 & Episode 7.
Chucky’s greatest fear, dating all the way back to his introduction in 1988’s Child’s Play, has been death. The serial killer transferred his soul, via voodoo, to a Good Guy doll to avoid it. This week’s brand new seventh episode of “Chucky” Season 3, “There Will Be Blood,” saw the ghost of Charles Lee Ray confront his greatest fear and meet his maker, Damballa. It also brought Chucky voice actor Brad Dourif back to the screen in a shocking turn of events.
Episode 6 saw Chucky commit to going down in a blaze of glory by using the saved eyeball he gouged from President James Collins (Devon Sawa) to gain access to the nuclear missiles. It created an intense standoff in the launch room, with the episode seemingly killing Chucky for good. Except, the White House is home to many restless spirits,...

An electrician, a priest, and the President.
No, that's not the start of a joke. It's just three out of the five characters already played by Devon Sawa on Chucky.
Anyone even slightly familiar with the franchise is already aware of Chucky's constant and imminent return with each installment.
However, the almost meta resurrection of Devon Sawa with each season was an unexpected surprise.
If you've been along for the insane killer doll ride for all three seasons, then you know by now that no adult character, whether main, recurring, or extra, is ever safe in the Chucky universe.
And much like Kenny McCormick from South Park, no adult character is more expected to die than those played by Sawa.
The show stands out with its over-the-top and campy kills in a franchise that centers around a possessed doll with a lust for bloody macabre.

Not even death can slow Chucky in “There Will Be Blood,” the penultimate episode of “Chucky” Season 3. With the killer receiving a mortal blow in the last episode, Charles Lee Ray (Brad Dourif) can now take full advantage of the White House’s bizarre supernatural purgatory, leaving him free to continue his current reign of terror as a ghost. While that spells trouble for Jake Wheeler (Zackary Arthur), Devon (Bjorgvin Arnarson), and Lexy (Alyvia Alyn Lind), it makes for an outrageously satisfying bloodbath heading into next week’s finale.
“There Will Be Blood” covers a lot of ground in short order, with Charles Lee Ray confronting his maker over his failures before he can continue his current path of destruction. Lexy, Jake, and Devon continue their desperate bid to find Lexy’s sister, which means seeking answers from the afterlife. They’re in luck, considering Warren Pryce (Gil Bellows) enlists...

More than two decades later, it’s hard to imagine anyone but Devon Sawa playing the titular role in the unforgettable music video for Eminem’s 2000 classic, “Stan,” but the actor has revealed Macaulay Culkin was the first choice to star in the visual.
“They went out to Macaulay Culkin first,” Sawa told Entertainment Tonight in a recent interview. “I think that they wanted him, and he wasn’t available, or didn’t want to do it or whatever.”
Thankfully for Sawa, Dr. Dre (who directed the video) was a fan of his work in Final Destination and suggested him instead. “There happened to be somebody in the casting office that knew somebody who was friends with me, and they called me that way… and it ended up working out pretty good,” Sawa explained, adding that the video was “one of the proudest things I’ve been a part of.

Devon Sawa indirectly has Macaulay Culkin to thank for one of his most iconic roles.
The 45-year-old Chucky actor opened up about a role that he was cast in after the 43-year-old Home Alone star turned it down.

The role in question was a starring one in Eminem “Stan” music video back in 2000. The project has gone down in history as one of the rapper’s most memorable visuals and was nominated for five MTV VMAs.

The story threads converge in “Panic Room,” the sixth episode of “Chucky“ Season 3. In the previous episode, a death row-bound Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly) demanded that a dying Chucky (voiced by Brad Dourif) “go down in a blaze of glory and take as many with you on your way out.” Considering the last episode also ended with the gruesome eye gouging of President James Collins (Devon Sawa), “Panic Room” plunges the White House into chaos and terror as Chucky lays the groundwork for his most ambitious plan yet.
Warren Pryce (Gil Bellows) continues to reveal his true colors, giving First Lady Charlotte Collins (Lara Jean Chorostecki) no room to grieve, let alone process what’s happened, before he enlists a clean-up crew to cover up the President’s death. Charlotte attempts to shield her children from the truth, even as she can barely hold it together, but finds herself plagued by...

Chucky continues to wreak havoc in the second half of season three, and viewers are wondering if there will be a fourth season of the Syfy and USA Network horror series. Creator Don Mancini recently spoke about the possibility of the series continuing in an interview with The Direct.

If you had to choose which horror movie villain you could outlast, chances are Chucky would be at the top of most peoples’ lists. Come on, he’s like two and a half feet tall, how could you not win? Why not just kick him across the room? Well, this can work every now and then, but Chucky is one diabolical doll and sooner or later he’ll find a way to get you. But imagine this gets swapped: Chucky is the oversized one matching wits and knives with someone – or something – a fraction of his size. That’s just the scenario Devon Sawa pictures, wondering what it would be like if the hand from Idle Hands were to take on the Good Guy.

Chucky season 3 had to be split in half due to the writers and actors strikes, with the first four episodes (read our review Here) airing on Syfy and USA Network (as well as the Peacock streaming service) back in October. Production resumed at the end of November, and the second half of the season will begin airing on April 10th – so now that we’re closing in on the end of season 3, series creator Don Mancini is, of course, fielding questions about the possibility of a fourth season. During an interview with The Direct, Mancini confirmed that season 4 has already been pitched!
When the subject of season 4 came up, Mancini said, “There’s very little I can say about that. I can’t tell you my idea for Season 4, but I’m really excited about it. I already pitched it to the network. So fingers crossed because it’s something I really like to do.

Don Mancini, creator of Chucky, is discussing a potential fourth season and has an idea of where to take the show despite not knowing what the future holds for it.
The Syfy and USA Network show is currently airing the backend episodes of Season 3, and the networks have not confirmed if the show will have a Season 4.
“There’s very little I can say about that. I can’t tell you my idea for Season 4, but I’m really excited about it. I already pitched it to the network. So fingers crossed because it’s something I really like to do,” Mancini told The Direct in an interview.
Mancini teased that if a fourth season were to happen, the storyline would take another left turn.

Part two of “Chucky” Season 3 is underway, with last night’s midseason premiere kicking off Chucky’s continued bid for the White House while dealing with a new aging affliction. The midseason premiere also delivered on series creator Don Mancini’s tease of a Chucky vs M3GAN showdown, just not in the way you’d expect.
In “Death Becomes Her,” Chucky (voiced by Brad Dourif) wallows over his mortality (when he’s not murdering people), which includes moping about in bed or watching TV. His channel surfing leads him to a string of killer doll horror movies playing, and Chucky’s commentary on his potential rivals will leave you in stitches.
The first film Chucky flips through is 2016’s The Boy, featuring the creepy but prim doll Brahms. After a brief scene of Brahms being cared for by his mother, Chucky dismisses this particular rival with “what a fucking joke.

The Writers Strike really threw a wrench into many productions, with few coming out unscathed. And Season Three of Chucky certainly had a difficult time getting cameras rolling. So they started without creator/showrunner Don Mancini on set and were able to get just four episodes filmed before the Actors joined suit. Now after the strikes have been settled and they were able to finish up the season with their full creative force, we are being treated to the second half of Season Three.
From the suburbs to a reform school to the White House, the series has gone through quite a change. But even still, I’d argue that the heart of what makes Chucky is still there. The back half of Don Mancini’s “Chucky“ Season 3 has finally arrived, which means the metaphorical training wheels are off. The first half of the season introduced new slaying grounds for the killer Good Guy doll, thrusting Chucky into the White House with its complicated tenants. Episode 5, “Death Becomes Her,” wastes no time addressing Episode 4’s massive dangling threads while barreling toward what’s sure to be an unpredictable battle for control.
The Halloween bloodbath at the end of Episode 4 did poor President James Collins (Devon Sawa) no favors, both for his career and declining mental health. Mistaking a disguised Chucky (Brad Dourif) for his deceased son Joseph has left him deeply troubled and convinced he’s haunted. First Lady Charlotte Collins (Lara Jean Chorostecki) is left to pick up the pieces while navigating her guilt, which is made worse by tricky CIA agent Warren Pryce (Gil Bellows).

Chucky, the iconic psychopathic doll with a taste for blood, has seen some competition on his corner. In the past year alone, dancing AI Dolls, giant animatronics, and the return of the tricycle-riding clown have offered stiff competition. Yet there’s only one red-headed monster known for his comedy, his oddly progressive nature, and, of course, his super violent kills. Chucky returns for the second half of its third season and, once again, proves his dark comedy fits best on television.
Chucky Season 3 Plot
After infiltrating the White House, Chucky (Brad Dourif) continues his reign of terror. In Part 1, he already butchered multiple SNL cast members and took out high-ranking Secret Service officials. However, Chucky loses favor with his deity of choice, Damballa, causing him to age rapidly. As the Chuckster tries to stop this process, his love Tiffany Valentine – possessing the body of Jennifer Tilly – awaits execution. Nica Pierce...

USA and Syfy’s hit horror series “Chucky” is coming back to the small screen for “Season 3: Part 2” on April 10, and Syfy brings us a handful of first-look images this week.
The third season of USA and Syfy’s “Chucky” was split into two parts as a result of last year’s Hollywood strikes, in case anyone was wondering why there’s a “Part 2” this year.
Season 3: Part 1 ended on a bombshell with the reveal that the killer Good Guy doll is finally aging. And these new images suggest that Chucky’s truth death may be imminent.
Chucky has survived multiple brushes with gruesome death over the years, from a burning to a melting to complete bodily dismemberment, but he always manages to find a way to keep on kicking. That string of luck may be coming to an end this year, however, as Chucky’s current predicament...

Samara Weaving has earned modern scream queen status with roles in films like The Babysitter, The Babysitter: Killer Queen, Mayhem, Ready or Not, Scream VI, and the upcoming horror action movie Azrael, plus a few episodes of the Ash vs. Evil Dead TV series. Since Weaving has worked in both the Scream and Evil Dead franchises, she was asked during a new interview with Collider which horror franchise she would like to be a part of next. Her answer: Nightmare on Elm Street.
The filmmakers behind Azrael had originally wanted to cast Billie Eilish in the role Weaving ended up playing. So when she was asked the horror franchise question, she said, “Nightmare on Elm Street. I can do it. Unless Billie Eilish gets it now.“

The Chucky franchise has been around since 1988, with the titular killer doll hacking and slashing his way through each movie.
The franchise got the TV treatment in 2020, carrying on many of the plots from the previous movies, along with a cast of new and returning faces.
It has been a success story for Syfy, drawing rave reviews and bucking the trend for horror movies being adapted into TV shows.
More often than not, switching mediums doesn’t land well with diehard fans.
But Chucky will go down as one of the best horror series on the small screen because it doesn’t forget its lore.

Have you been awaiting news about your favorite Syfy shows?
Today is your day!
Syfy announced return dates for Chucky, Reginald the Vampire, and The Ark and announced a surprise renewal for SurrealEstate.
SurrealEstate is a fun little show that stars Tim Rosen as Luke Roman, the founder of real estate firm that specializes in supernatural events.
Their promise is to clean the house of pesky spirits so owners can sell without the guilt of what they’re escaping or leaving behind.
The team goes far beyond traditional real estate agents with powers of their own, a former priest, and a technical wizard who uses gizmos he creates to cast off anything from demons to ghosts.
For the longest time, SurrealEstate was languishing without a home for a second season after airing the first season in 2021.

The "Final Destination" franchise may be shorter than most of the big horror hitters, but it has one of the best batting averages in a horror franchise. Every movie plays with the formula in cool and interesting ways without the need for easily merchandised iconography. Even the so-called "worst" one in the franchise at least has some cool death scenes, while the rest are some of the most fun you can have with a horror movie.
And like most horror franchises, the "Final Destination" franchise has some entries with less than obvious titles. This can make it a bit confusing for newcomers to know exactly what order to watch the movies in. If that applies to you, then fret not. But if it does, don't even try to get Lasik surgery, or drive behind logging trucks until you have watched these movies.

Thora Birch has been performing in Hollywood since she was just a tiny tyke, famously playing Dani Dennison in the cult Halloween classic "Hocus Pocus," where she becomes the target of the malevolent Sanderson sisters. But although one of her most memorable roles came in 1993, when she was just 11 years old, that was far from the end of her career as an actress. Birch has continued to work in the industry, lending her talents to television series, films, music videos, and even podcasts over the years.
Birch's career has been defined by a few standout performances in films that captured the imaginations of audiences everywhere, but one of the most inspiring aspects of her time in Hollywood is that whenever she has been in danger of being completely subsumed by these larger-than-life roles, she shifts gears, navigating a career as a performer on her own terms. Anakin Skywalker was the most sought after role in film back at the turn of the century. Whether people loved what George Lucas was going for in "The Phantom Menace" or hated it, when it became clear that they weren't going to wait for Jake Lloyd to age into the teenage version of the character, everybody wanted to be the one who would eventually become Darth Vader.
Rumors of all sorts of actors, already famous or relative unknowns, have been swirling since those initial casting ideas were cooked up. Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the more well-known ones. Don Mancini, who has written every film in the Child’s Play / Chucky franchise (except the remake) and directed a few of them, developed the TV series Chucky with producer David Kirschner – and he has made it clear that he enjoys casting actors in multiple roles. For example, Devon Sawa has already played four different characters over the course of the TV show’s three seasons. Now Entertainment Weekly has learned that legendary filmmaker John Waters is the latest person to play two different roles in this franchise. Having previously played Pete Peters, a tabloid photographer who got dissolved by acid in 2004’s Seed of Chucky, Waters has now been added to the cast of Chucky season 3, where he’ll be playing Wendell Wilkins, “the reclusive creator of the Good Guy dolls, who gets drawn into the psychopathic Chucky’s tangled web”.

Patrick Bromley wrote in his 2021 review for Bloody Disgusting, “Death Rider in the House of Vampires has all the charm of Verotika, and nearly all of its flaws, too. That’s probably damning praise, encouraging fans of the latter to seek out the former while scaring off those who found Danzig’s first film to be insufferable. I can’t fault either party for rushing out...

Two years after its arrival in theaters, Glenn Danzig‘s horror film Death Rider in the House of Vampires is finally receiving a physical release on DVD and Blu-Ray.
Danzig’s second original feature-length film and self-described “vampire Spaghetti Western” received a limited theatrical release back in August 2021. The veteran rocker wrote, directed, scored, and starred in the film (playing the character Bad Bathory) alongside the likes of Devon Sawa, Julian Sands, Danny Trejo, Eli Roth, and Kim Director.
The plot follows the Death Rider (Sawa), who travels to the desert Vampire Sanctuary, ruled by Count Holliday. The price of admission is “one untouched virgin.” As seen in the Nsfw trailer for the film, the combo of bloodthirst and gunslinging recalls Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s horror shoot-em-up From Dusk Till Dawn, which also features vampires and pistols.

You can’t keep a killer Good Guy doll down for long, or the plucky protagonists determined to stop him. With strikes officially over, Syfy shared an amusing clip on socials of the young cast getting back to work on the second half of “Chucky” season 3.
In the clip below, “Chucky” stars Zackary Arthur, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Bjorgvin Arnarson, along with season three newcomer Jackson Kelly are charmingly ushered back on set by series creator Don Mancini. That’s great news for fans considering Part 1 dropped major bombshells, especially where Chucky is concerned.
The first half of “Chucky” season three arrived on USA Network, Syfy, and Peacock at the beginning of October and ran for four episodes, with the season’s final four episodes pushed back to 2024 due to the strikes.
The teaser for “Chucky” Season 3: Part 2 only made our anticipation worse.

Franchising is basically the bread and butter of the horror genre. It doesn't matter what critics think. It doesn't even matter if the iconic central villain is killed at the end of the movie. Where there's a will, there's a way -- and writers can always be persuaded to come up with new explanations for why their characters are put back in similarly horrific scenarios.
Within the genre, you could make the argument that sequels are the rule rather than the exception, and even subpar horror films often end up becoming franchises, whether their follow-up films are given a theatrical release or not. (Direct-to-video sequels are also a long-term staple for scary movies.) This is especially true for teen horror movies, since younger audiences have always been a target demographic for these types of films.
But every once in a while, you get a teen horror flick that's one-and-done, without a sequel on the horizon.
