A group of screenwriters including Eli Roth, Graham Yost and Amy Chozick have issued an open letter decrying the Writers Guild of America’s silence on last week’s Hamas terrorist attacks in Israel.
In the letter, posted to the blog site Medium, the screenwriters mention the statements already issued by other Hollywood guilds, including SAG-AFTRA and the directors’ guild.
“When it comes to taking a stand, the Writers Guild of America has always led by example,” the statement said. “When employers sought to exploit our work, the Guild bravely spoke up. When the BLM movement took flight, the Guild rightfully spoke up. When the #MeToo reckoning came and Hollywood needed to change, again the Guild spoke up. But when terrorists invaded Israel to murder, rape, and kidnap Jews… the Guild stayed silent. It remains the only major Hollywood union to do so.”

"John Wick" and "Sicario" producers Thunder Road are assembling the action thriller "Smoke on the Water" which Basil Iwanyk and Kent Kubena will produce.
The script by Trey Callaway ("I Still Know What You Did Last Summer") and Rick Parks ("Ever After") deals with the worlds of offshore boat racing, high-tech open water drug trafficking and the so-called 'nautical narcotic highway' from Cuba to Key West.
The film has more of a "Fast and Furious" than "Sicario"-style tone of energetic and fun action, and will reportedly make good use of the still cinematically untapped world of Cuba as a filming location.
Thunder Road is currently developing "Gang Story" with Liam Neeson, "A Star is Born" with Bradley Cooper and "Splinter Cell" with Tom Hardy.

Children are the key to the future, so it makes complete sense for the Patriots to get every teen in the land through their boot camps and brainwash them into fighting for the United States. It’s both a form of population control and a way to bolster the ranks.
Charlie and the Monroes are back in the Willoughby area with Charlie’s new gang in tow. While taking down the Patriots is a major goal, there are more pressing concerns. Namely, the Nevilles coming for Bass’s head and the threat of the boot camp and he soldiers it may produce. The bulk of the story focuses on the latter, with Bass and Miles ensnaring a couple of would-be teen trackers trying to hunt them down.

Revolution, Season 2, Episode 13: “Happy Endings”
Written by David Rambo & Trey Callaway
Directed by Ernest Dickerson
Airs Wednesdays at 8pm (Et) on NBC
After previous hints of a religious undertone to the creation of the nanites, the show goes full-bore into the topic this week. Aaron and Priscilla hit the next stop on their world tour of enlightenment, or whatever it is the nanites want them to do, and they meet up with old friend Peter. The trio worked together on the operating system that powers the tiny machines and the nanites hold all three in deep regard for bringing them to life. Where Aaron was confused by and dismissed the power he held as a master of the nanite, Peter has embraced it. Yet instead of understanding that he commands millions of tiny machines, he believes he is harnessing the power of God to conduct miracle healings.

Revolution, Season 2, Episode 9: “Everyone Says I Love You”
Written by Trey Callaway & Paul Grellong
Directed by Steve Boyum
Airs Wednesdays at 8pm (Et) on NBC
One of the golden rules in TV is that you can never really be sure someone’s dead if you’ve only heard about their demise. In Revolution, even that trope isn’t always surefire, since we’ve seen Aaron come back from the dead and Monroe reemerge from a buried casket after a heavy dose of drugs made him appear dead. So it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to see that Julia is alive and well and (gasp!) remarried, in the belief that Neville was actually deceased himself. She managed to escape Atlanta long before the bombs dropped at the end of Season 1, and found a new husband to provide her with food, shelter, and security.

Revolution, Season 2, Episode 6: “Dead Man Walking”
Written by Trey Callaway & Paul Grellong
Directed by Steve Boyum
Airs Wednesdays at 8 pm (Et) on NBC
It was all looking so simple: Frame the Patriots for the Texan official’s death and Texas would take up arms against the U.S. Government. Monroe and Miles used their expertise to frame the Patriots and it all seemed so straightforward. Too easy, in fact. So when we find out the Patriots and Texans have joined forces it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise.
In an episode that tones down the action, we have a lot of developments, small and large, to keep things compelling. The big news is the apparent death of Monroe. Clearly a man with fewer friends than he can count on his fingers, and more enemies than he could shake a stick at, the Patriots and Texans capture and sentence him to death.

Billy goes once more unto the breach. Here's his review of the Revolution season 2 opener...
This review contains spoilers.
2.1 Born in the USA.
As a child, I reacted strongly to those TV shows where the characters experienced extreme jeopardy. These sent me scurrying behind a chair until the 'danger' had passed. For entirely different reasons the return of Revolution gave me that same feeling again, that hiding might be a better option to confrontation.
It's not that anything that goes on in it is sufficiently dramatic enough to warrant a panic attack or even mild concern. It's just that I suffer with an inherent low incredulity level that if exceeded, makes me feel violently nauseated, and this TV show has a knack of sending me past that point within the first five minutes of each and every episode.
On that basis, you might reasonably wonder why I review it,...

"CSI: New York" may have solved its last case, but that doesn't mean the drama and fun have fully ended for this long-running procedural. On July 25, the DVD set of "CSI: New York - The Ninth Season" will be released. And you can preview one of the several bonus features here.
The clip seen here comes from a featurette, "On Thin Ice." In it, Carmine Giovinazzo and Eddie Cahill joke with Aj Buckley about his ice-hockey skills. The hockey in question was part of the Season 9 premiere, "Reignited."
Among the other special features coming with the DVD collection are:
"A Day Off With ..." -- The cast and co-executive producer Trey Callaway talk about the episodes showing each character's day off from the crime lab."NYPD Clue" -- The cast and crew discuss translating the board game, Clue, into the serial-killer episode, "Clue: Si.""Fireworks" -- This is a behind-the-scenes look...

Cult creator, Mr. Rockne S. O’Bannon is in the headlines today for making it onto Revolution‘s Season 2 roster. O’Bannon will settle into his role as current showrunner Eric Kripke’s right hand man on the set. Behind the scenes, O’Bannon will be especially crucial to the upcoming season.
Congratulations are in order because of Revolution‘s exciting second-season renewal. To celebrate, it looks the show added some muscle in the writers room, suggested the THR exclusive.
In addition to creating Cult, O’Bannon is also writer of fan-favorite, Defiance. He will act on Revolution, which of course is the drama from J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot banner. The NBC network is treating Revolution as one of top scripted dramas in primetime. Is it worthy of such high praise in your book?
For O’Bannon, CW’s very short-lived series, Cult, was “a passion project” for the veteran sci-fi guy.

Not that it should be a huge surprise, but NBC is putting some more faith into its new genre series "Revolution" by giving it a second season on the network. "Revolution," from "Supernatural" creator Eric Kripke as well as "Star Trek: Into Darkness" director J.J. Abrams, is set in the near future after the planet has been without electrical and mechanical power for years. While the people struggle, others look to take power -- with one dictator looking to take power by using power. Joining the writing room for Season 2 will be Rockne S. O'Bannon, The writer, best known for his work on "Farscape" as well as the new Syfy series "Defiance," will be an executive producer as well, second in command to Kripke, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He joins Trey Callaway from "CSI: New York." Also ...

Robert Joy had been prepped for the curve "CSI: NY" threw him, but that didn't necessarily make it easier for him to play.
The CBS series airs a new mystery about an off-duty policeman's murder Friday (Jan. 11), but in last week's episode, forensic detective Jo Danville (Sela Ward) determined that Chief Medical Examiner Sid Hammerback (Joy) -- now quite wealthy, after selling the patent for a special pillow he devised -- was the secret distributor of $1 million checks to survivors of crime victims.
And that wasn't the biggest reveal: In an emotional closing scene, Sid then confided to Jo that he had been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
"To have such a meaty scene in a police procedural was something beyond my expectations," Joy tells Zap2it. "I was warned about it, so I knew the big news would be coming, but Trey Callaway (the 'CSI: NY' co-executive producer...

We caught wind of three new series in the works at The CW which, while not strictly horror-based, should still be of interest to genre fans. Read on for the details!
First up is an original project called "Sick" from Trey Callaway (co-executive producer of "CSI: NY") and Sean Hood (Halloween: Resurrection, Fear Itself, and "Masters of Horror"), who wrote the script and sold it directly to The CW. "Sick" is set in a world where youths are quarantined after a mysterious virus makes adults allergic to teenagers. Described as a cross between Contagion and The Hunger Games, it centers on a band of teens who escape from their containment units and go on the run from authorities.
Next is "Jane Whitefield," based on the Vanishing Act book series by Thomas Perry. Produced by Carol Mendelsohn ("CSI") and written by Natalie Chaidez ("Heroes," "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles"), "Jane Whitefield...

College kids run around a cemetery on Hallowe'en and a girl falls into an open grave and lands on a Db. Jo (Sela Ward) comments, "It's not often you find a Db where it actually belongs." Mac (Gary Sinise) claims he was dead before he got here. Flack (Eddie Cahill) is canvassing the area for a murder weapon and Jo asks, "expecting the dead to speak." The Db was hit before the fall. Nice moment between Jo and Flack that's what gives this show so much more in terms of character development and why it deserves to continue. That and great storylines. Oh okay I've had my rant at the beginning, never mind! The Db has four phones on him, which Flack calls overkill Mac: "...so does dying in somebody else's grave." Updated, 1/7: Each year, the five broadcast networks develop hundreds of scripted dramas and comedies in hopes they’ll become the next NCIS and Desperate Housewives, or the latest Modern Family and The Big Bang Theory. And like every year, a great deal of them are not worth mentioning here — mostly because they involve the bland types of cops, lawyers, and doctors who you’ve already seen fighting crime or sneaking a kiss on the way to the ER.
But fascinating projects continue to pass the first smell test at the broadcast networks. The key is whether the suits take...

Supernatural has grown and grown since its debut in 2005. What started out looking like an X-Files clone without Scully and silly science is now about as far away from that as you could imagine. The introduction of a more explicitly religious angle to the supernatural phenomena the Winchester brothers hunt down kick-started an arc that reached its climax at the end of Season 5. That potentially apocalyptic face-off signified Supernatural's rise from monster-of-the-week show to epic entertainment.

As you may recall, Supernatural's web series spin-off "Ghostfacers" debuted on April 15 with two new episodes being added each week. In honor of the occasion, The CW has provided us with video interviews of stars Travis Wester, Aj Buckley, Austin Basis, Brittany Ishibashi, and Mircea Monroe along with a chat with Jim Beaver (aka Bobby from Supernatural) and some footage of the premiere party.
The web series on Cwtv.com stars Aj Buckley as Ed, the team’s enthusiastic leader, and Travis Wester as Harry, the co-founder of the team and tactical specialist. Brittany Ishibashi is Maggie, Ed’s adopted sister and the team’s tech genius. Austin Basis co-stars as Kenny, the videographer and occasional shaman, and Mircea Monroe portrays their new intern Ambyr.
“Ghostfacers” follows a team of fearless and sometimes comical “professional” ghost hunters who investigate other-worldly sightings and record their own adventures in documentary-style episodes.

As mentioned in our coverage of the 2010 Streamy Awards, the first two episodes of “Ghostfacers” – the new original shortform series/brand extension of The CW's Supernatural – is set to premiere Thursday, April 15, on Cwtv.com; and now we have a few more details to share.
The debut of the “Ghostfacers” digital series, starring Aj Buckley and Travis Wester as the world’s greatest self-proclaimed ghost hunters on a quest for the paranormal, coincides with the broadcast of the 100th episode of Supernatural, "Point of No Return", starring Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles.
The first two episodes will launch on April 15 at 10 a.m. on Cwtv.com, followed by two additional episodes each Thursday for the next four weeks, for a total of 10 episodes. Each episode is approximately three to four minutes in length. On Monday, June 7, all 10 episodes of “Ghostfacers” will migrate from Cwtv.com to TheWB.com.

Warner Brothers is teaming up with an old friend again—single-word director McG. Having last collaborated on the 2008 online drama Sorority Forever, today came word that Ghostfacers, a new 10-episode sci-fi comedy web series from McG's Wonderland Sound and Vision production company and Warner's Studio 2.0 is currently in production in Los Angeles. The series appears to be a spin-off of Warner Bros. Television's Supernatural series which airs on The CW. They are calling this a "shortform brand extension" of the TV series, which means this is really a companion web series, instead of a purely original project. Ghostfacers will follow a "a team of fearless and sometimes comical “professional” ghost hunters who investigate the paranormal and record their own adventures in documentary-style episodes." Warner Bros. TV's 2.0 and director McG's production company Wonderland will produce a spinoff to the CW's Vancouver-lensed TV series "Supernatural", titled "Ghostfacers".
The series will debut on TheWB.com and also play on the CW's website, initially running as three-minute episodes, starring actors A.J. Buckley, Travis Wester, Brittany Ishibashi and Austin Basis. Buckley and Wester are also writing the show with Patrick Doody and Chris Valenziano.
Executive producers are McG, Peter Johnson, Jeff Grosvenor, Eric Kripke and Phil Sgriccia.
Premise of the series follows a team of 'ghost hunters' who tape their exploits on the run, complete with shaky "Blair Witch Project" camera effects.

Variety reports that a new spin-off show, "Ghostfacers", is heading straight for the Internet.
