On Saturday evening the Art Directors Guild (Adg) announced the winners of its 19th Annual Excellence in Production Design Awards, in eleven categories of film, television, commercials and music videos during a black-tie ceremony at the International Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.
The Grand Budapest Hotel, Birdman and Guardians Of The Galaxy were the night’s big winners.
Christopher Nolan received the Guild’s prestigious Cinematic Imagery Award presented by Anne Hathaway, star of Interstellar, currently nominated for five Academy Awards including Best Production Design.
George Clooney presented Production Designer Jim Bissell with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

George Clooney will present the Art Directors Guild Lifetime Achievement Award to his longtime friend Jim Bissell, the Oscar-nominated production designer behind the stunning world of Clooney's 2005 "Good Night, and Good Luck" and this year's "The Monuments Men." Clooney recently won the HFPA's Cecil B. DeMille award, the Golden Globes equivalent of a lifetime achievement prize. His collaborations with Bisell began in 2002 with Clooney's directorial debut "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind," and the two have paired ever since. The Art Directors Guild has announced nominees for the group's 19th annual awards, and films that have come on strong as of late like "American Sniper" and "Nightcrawler" were in the mix along notable extravagant displays in the period and fantasy categories. However, there were a few missing pieces. In the fantasy arena, both "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" and "Maleficent" came up short, while "Exodus: Gods and Kings" missed in the period department. The most shocking snub might be "Mr. Turner's" in that field, however. (And it would have been great to see "Snowpiercer" get some love here, but, alas.) As a reminder, the Guild implemented a new rule this season. Period films must now have the majority of sets and locations designed to portray a time period at least 20 years prior to the present awards year.
