Exclusive: Emmy nominee Malcolm-Jamal Warner (The Resident), Wendell Pierce (The Wire) and Karen LeBlanc (The Kings of Napa) are set to star in an episode of Accused, Fox’s straight-to-series crime anthology drama, Accused, executive-produced by Howard Gordon, Alex Gansa and David Shore.
Accused, directed by Michael Cuesta and co-produced by Fox Entertainment and Sony Pictures Television, is based on the BBC’s BAFTA-winning crime anthology. It opens in a courtroom on the accused, with viewers knowing nothing about their crime or how they ended up on trial. Told from the defendant’s point of view through flashbacks, Accused depicts how an ordinary person gets caught up in an extraordinary situation, ultimately revealing how one wrong turn leads to another, until it’s too late to turn back.

Exclusive: Dani Montalvo (Dispatches from Elsewhere) and Luke Humphrey (Tiny Pretty Things) are set to star as controversial couple Lorena and John Bobbitt in the Lifetime feature I Was Lorena Bobbitt. Karen LeBlanc has been added to the cast of ABC’s pilot Beauty And The Beast. She will play, Ehren, a role originally written for a man. Ehren is the de-facto head of the rebel band that wants to see Emperor Dorian (F. Murray Abraham) de-throned. LeBlanc is with Greene & Assos. and manager Gayle Abrams. Jacinda Barrett has been cast in ABC’s drama pilot Zero Hour, playing the wife of lead Anthony Edwards. She is with ICM and Brillstein Entertainment Partners. Tower Prep star Drew Van Acker, who is recurring on Pretty Little Liars, has joined ABC’s soap Devious Maids, playing the son of one of the Beverly Hills families that employ the maids. Writer-producer Gayle Abrams has been tapped to write ABC's comedy pilot starring pop singer Jessica Simpson, which Touchstone TV has come on board to produce. Former NBC and ABC executive Ted Harbert is attached to executive produce the Simpson project. The comedy had been expected to be produced through 20th Century Fox TV, where Harbert's new production banner is based. But sources confirmed that 20th agreed to swap the Simpson project to Touchstone in exchange for 20th taking over production of a drama from Barry Levinson and Tom Fontana, which ABC had already passed on and was picked up in September by Fox (HR 9/9).
