Rock bands always have their fair share of ups and downs, with members coming and going; sometimes by choice, sometimes because they’re forced to. Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler got the boot from the band after he couldn’t keep up his side of a bargain to stay clean.
Steven Adler’s success with Guns N’ Roses was marred by his addiction to drugs and alcohol
Adler joined Guns N’ Roses in 1985, along with vocalist Axl Rose, lead guitarist Slash, rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin, and bass player Duff McKagan. The group played Los Angeles nightclubs before getting signed to Geffen Records in 1986.
Their debut album, Appetite for Destruction, was released the following year. It was a huge success and still sells copies today; to date, it has sold over 30 million copies worldwide, making it the best-selling debut album of all time in the U.S.

In the parking lot of a Panera, just off I-95 in Stafford, Virginia, Rick Dunsford climbed into the passenger seat of a white Ford F-350 pick-up. Depending whose account you believe, he was holding either 12,000 or 15,000 in cash. It was late afternoon on a Friday in July 2019. Dunsford had been driving through the night, making stops along the way — in Charlotte, North Carolina, to pick up an associate, Madeline Rose; at his sister’s house in Virginia, to collect some of the money; and at a couple of different Wells-Fargo...

Guns N’ Roses just announced that not only are they going ahead with their 2021 American stadium shows, but they’ve added Wolfgang Van Halen to the bill and a bunch of arena shows in the fall. For these keeping track, this is essentially the same reunion tour that launched back in 2016 and has already grossed more than half a billion dollars.
The whole thing seemed very improbable when it was merely a rumor back in 2015. People had many key questions about the whole thing: Axl is really going to make...

Guns N’ Roses did not arrive fully formed on L.A.’s Sunset Strip, howling “Sweet Child o’ Mine” with all the might and charisma that made the song a hit in 1988. They only achieved the proper cocktail of sensitivity and machismo after the five musicians in Gn’R’s classic lineup found each other in the mid-Eighties. Long before any of them had even dreamt of the songs on Appetite for Destruction, Indiana natives Axl Rose and guitarist Izzy Stradlin were cutting their teeth in the bands Axl, Hollywood Rose,...

Guns N’ Roses rolled out yet another leg of their reunion tour earlier this week that will bring them to stadiums across North America throughout the summer. They downgraded to arenas in America after the first leg of the tour in 2016, and filling 60,000 seat venues might seem like a tough task at this point, but they must have reason to think that the demand remains this high.
Amazingly, this will be the 14th leg of the tour. By this point, they’ve hit just about every place on the planet where they could conceivably play,...

TMZ, which broke the news, quoted law enforcement sources as saying that someone at the musician's Los Angeles home called 911 around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday to report that someone had stabbed themselves, and that cops later discovered Adler, 54 with a stab wound to his stomach. The outlet said he was treated at a hospital for non-life threatening injuries. An Lapd spokesperson confirmed to E! Early next month, Guns N’ Roses will kick off the 10th, and possibly final, leg of their Not in This Lifetime reunion tour. Many people thought that Slash and Axl Rose wouldn’t be able to share the stage for more than couple of weeks before the whole thing imploded, but amazingly enough it’s been well over two years and there hasn’t been even the tiniest sign of tension. They’ve also managed to be on time every night, which is somewhat of a miracle considering their history.

Fans are dying for some anarchy in first trailer for "Dirt," Netflix’s Mötley Crüe biopic.
"Be strong and rock hard," Mötley Crüe advised. And when you deliver, "shout at the devil.” Netflix dropped the first Mötley Crüe biopic The Dirt trailer and it looks like the world's most notorious band had a blast earning that reputation. The film won't cop out on the band's more controversial and painful moments. Nikki Sixx’s Dec. 23, 1987 party til you die party with Slash and Steven Adler from Guns N’ Roses and Ratt’s Robbin Crosby; Tommy Lee’s stormy marriage to Heather Locklear; Mick Mars’ bone disease diagnosis, and the car crash that killed Hanoi Rocks drummer Nicholas “Razzle” Dingley and put Vince Neil in jail will all get celluloid treatment.
The biopic is a film adaptation of Mötley Crüe’s 2001 memoir, The Dirt: Confessions Of The World’s Most Notorious Rock Band.

'It's So Easy and Other Lies' movie: Biographical documentary of Guns N' Roses bassist Duff McKagan. 'It's So Easy and Other Lies' movie review: Biographical documentary of Guns N' Roses bassist Duff McKagan fails to develop unique idea Any rock and roll documentary that begins with a quote from Upton Sinclair's The Jungle and ends with a reference to Norman Rockwell is gunning for something uncommonly rich and thoughtful. Here, the high-toned references are awkwardly applied to the story of Duff McKagan, Seattle-born bassist of the loud and legendary Guns N' Roses and subject of the documentary It's So Easy and Other Lies. In the annals of rock music, McKagan's tale is sadly typical, at least for those who survive long enough to star in a film about themselves: young rocker bounces from band to band before joining a soon-to-be world-famous group, enjoys a rapid ascent to the top,...

After years of feuding, it looks as if the “old” Guns N’ Roses is back. Sort of. Even though they never really left… kind of. Look, they have a reunion coming up… partially, anyway.
Confused yet?
Pretty much every music fan not living under a particularly remote rock or the dark side of the moon for the past few decades knows the story of Guns N’ Roses. The huge debut, the excesses, the controversies, the membership changes and the eventual, complete implosion of the classic-era line-up. Steven Adler, Izzy Stradlin, Gilby Clarke (Stradlin’s original replacement), Slash, Duff McKagan – by the early 90s, they were dropping like flies. Come the late 90s, only singer Axl Rose and keyboardist Dizzy Reed remained, alongside a new group of musicians including The Replacements bassist Tommy Stinson.

2012 was a banner year for former Guns N Roses drummer Steven Adler: along with his former bandmates, in April he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and he later formed a new self-titled hard rock band (he had previously released two EPs with the band Adler's Appetite). Adler released their first album Back from the Dead last fall, which featured scorching guitar contributions from John 5 (Rob Zombie's axe-man and Lords of Salem composer) and Adler's Gnr compadre, the legendary Slash. We caught up with Steven and his team (vocalist Jacob Bunton, guitarist Lonny Paul and bassist Johnny Martin) to talk about the formation of the band and the album, their dedication to pure rock 'n' roll, and the strong connection between rock, metal and horror – including the band's own musical link to the Nightmare on Elm Street movies. We cover all that and more in this clip!

Los Angeles, California (x17online) - Guns N' Roses reunited during their Rock And Roll Hall of Fame induction concert on Sunday without their longstanding lead singer Axl Rose. The three original members, Slash, Duff McKagan and Steven Adler, hit the stage this weekend to perform some of their greatest hits during the festivities, including classics like Sweet Child O' Mine and Paradise City. With Axl's absence, the group recruited Miles Kennedy, lead singer from Creed spin-off band Alter Bridge, to take over the microphone during their set. Ex-Guns N' Roses drummer Steven Adler has said he has no hard feelings over Axl Rose's decision not to attend the band's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. Rose announced last week that he would skip Saturday's gala because he didn't feel "wanted or respected" by his former bandmates. The 'Welcome To The Jungle' singer also requested not to be inducted "in absentia". Guns N' Roses' Hall of Fame induction went on without the frontman in Cleveland, with Rose's name apparently drawing boos when he was mentioned during the ceremony. Adler, who drummed for Guns N' Roses from 1985 to 1990, spoke of Rose's absence with Rolling Stone following the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame concert. "All I have to say is I love Axl very much and I was blessed that... he was a part of my life," Adler (more)...

Axl wasn't there, but Saturday night's (April 15) Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony did feature three original members of Guns N' Roses — Slash, Duff McKagan and Steven Adler — who jammed with former Gunners Gilby Clarke and Matt Sorum (plus Alter Bridge frontman Myles Kennedy stepping in to fill Rose's shoes) on a medley of the band's biggest hits.
Of course, there was also a cameo that only eagle-eyed fans of VH1 Classic's "That Metal Show" probably caught: The show's logo, worn squarely on Adler's chest.
Adler has appeared on "That Metal Show" before and is an avowed fan of the program — he even canceled a performance by his band Adler's Appetite in 2010 to appear as a guest.

The crowd at the ceremony reacted negatively to the mention of his name as his band Guns N' Roses were inducted, Reuters reports. Rose had earlier in the week announced his refusal to attend the event, as he didn't feel "wanted or respected" by his former bandmates. As Rose's former bandmates Slash, Duff McKagan, Steven Adler and Matt Sorum were on stage collecting the award, presenter Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day asked the audience who was missing, prompting a reaction of boos. Armstrong said to the audience: "Most singers are crazy, I can vouch for that. He is one of the best front men to ever touch a microphone. (more)...

Sorry, Axl Rose, Cleveland's rocking on without you. Music's famous stars jammed together last night at the 27th annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony at Cleveland's Public Hall. Although the G N' R frontman vetoed the event and rejected his induction, his bandmates gave a whole new meaning to "the show must go on." Guns N' Roses band members Slash, Duff McKagan and Steve Adler reunited to perform three hits on Saturday night, including fan favorites "Sweet Child O' Mine" and "Paradise City." Myles Kennedy, a member of a side project with G N' R guitarist Slash, sang the lead vocals. Axl wasn't the only rock star...

If it's the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, then drama is as much a prerequisite as loud guitars, receding hairlines and a night-ending all-star jam on a golden oldie.
Saturday night's 27th edition was no exception according to reports, with as much intrigue as a telenovela, as well as some genuinely peaceful Southern California bro-downage, irreverent induction speeches and fresh spots in the Hall for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beastie Boys, The Faces, Freddie King, Laura Nyro and Guns N' Roses.
The spotlight, of course, was on the famously fractured band of battling former brothers in Gnr. Lead singer and sole...

New York — The acrimony that helped dissolve Guns N' Roses nearly 20 years ago still lingers.
Axl Rose announced Wednesday that he won't be showing up to see the band inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and declined the honor for himself.
In a letter to the hall, band fans and "To Whom It May Concern," Rose listed several reasons for not attending Saturday's ceremony in Cleveland, including a feeling that the hall does not respect him.
In declining his own induction, he added: "I strongly request that I not be inducted in absentia and please know that no one is authorized nor may anyone be permitted to accept any induction for me or speak on my behalf."
The hall said in a statement that it still plans to induct Rose with the rest of the group. "We are sorry he will not be able to accept his induction in person,...

Guns N' Roses singer Axl Rose said it as politely as he could, but still made it completely clear: he won't attend his band's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction because he won't tread where he isn't welcome. Rose didn't simply publicly decline the invitation to attend this week's induction ceremony among fellow lineup inductees Slash, Izzy Stradlin, Duff McKagen and Steven Adler, Reuters reports. He wants his name struck from the Hall's record....Read more...

Guns N' Roses fans shouldn't hold their breath for a reunion of the original band members at this weekend's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony. In an open letter released Wednesday the group's frontman Axl Rose says he doesn't plan to attend the ceremony in Cleveland and "I respectfully decline my induction as a member of Guns N' Roses to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame." Referring to the band's falling out in 1996, Rose, 50, says having the group inducted would be "somewhat of a complicated or awkward situation." He adds, "I strongly request that I not be inducted...

Los Angeles — Anthony Kiedis had a dream the other night.
The 49-year-old frontman of the Red Hot Chili Peppers imagined that he was playing at this year's Rock and Rock Hall of Fame induction ceremony, and the band's on-again, off-again guitarist John Frusciante was sitting in the front row.
Kiedis is quick to note that this vision won't become a reality when the 29-year-old group is actually inducted Saturday.
"No," Kiedis said in a hushed tone during a break from rehearsing at Sir Studios last month. "That was just a dream."
"I can't speak for (Frusciante), but I think it's kinda like an ex-girlfriend vibe," added 49-year-old bassist Flea.
The current line-up of Flea, Kiedis, drummer Chad Smith and guitarist Josh Klinghoffer will be honored along with past bandmates like late founding member Hillel Slovak, the original Chili Peppers guitarist who died of a drug overdose in 1988, and Frusciante, who...

Ever since Guns N' Roses were announced as Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees in December, speculation has swirled about just who from the band's lengthy list of current (and former) members would show up at the ceremony.
Well, now we know who won't: mastermind Axl Rose, who announced Wednesday (April 11) that not only does he have no plans to attend Saturday's induction ceremony in Cleveland, but he wants nothing to do with the Hall at all.
"I won't be attending ... and I respectfully decline my induction as a member of Guns N' Roses to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame," Rose wrote in a Facebook message. "I strongly request that I not...

Guns N' Roses, meet Green Day. The Bay Area pop-punks will deliver the L.A. hair metal band's induction speech at the April 14th ceremony in Cleveland. Former GnR members Slash, Duff McKagan, Steven Adler, Matt Sorum and Dizzy Reed all plan to attend the event, while Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin have yet to announce their planned presence. According to Rolling Stone, it's still unclear who will perform at the ceremony. Will the original GnR lineup reunite for the gig? Probably not, but there could be a partial band performance, or Green Day could play some sort of tribute show in...

Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day
It takes a punk to know a punk. And though they may appear to be rebels of a different stripe, down deep Green Day and Guns N' Roses are made of the same spiked collar DNA. That's why it makes perfect sense that the Berkeley, California-bred three-chord trio has been tapped to induct the ultimate Hollywood metal gods into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next week.
According to Rolling Stone, Green Day will deliver the induction speech for Gn'r during the April 14 induction ceremony in Cleveland. And while Billy Joe Armstrong and the boys are sure to heap praise on Guns for the pioneering mind-meld of glam, metal and punk on the band's titanic 1987 debut, Appetite for Destruction, the million-dollar question remains which...

Only a bunch of punks would take the job of inducting Guns N’ Roses into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, right? The merry lads of Green Day – Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool -- have been tapped to enshrine the metal gawds April 14 in Cleveland, Rolling Stone reported Tuesday. But exactly which members of the multiplatinum Guns will be there to accept the honor remains cloudy. Slash has said he’ll show, as have bassist Duff McKagan, original Guns drummer Steven Adler and his replacement, Matt Sorum. But Sorum is on record saying guitarist and co-

London — Will Guns N' Roses reunite for their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
Behind his dark glasses, hat and big hair, the group's former guitarist Slash is staying noncommittal on the subject.
The million-selling hard rock group enters the Rock Hall in Cleveland on April 14, an event at which honored acts often perform as part of the celebration. But the group's original lineup fell apart in 1996, so fans hoping to see the band reunite may be disappointed.
"It's definitely an honor and I have no idea what's going to happen on that day," Slash told The Associated Press in an interview. "It's more like going into it with blinders on and just see what happens."

Current Guns 'N Roses keyboardist Dizzy Reed has announced some rather exciting news for rock fans - Guns 'N Roses will be sort-of reuniting for their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction April 14 at the Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio.
"I know that all the original band is going to be there," Reed tells Billboard. "I don't know exactly what's going to go down. It's one of those things I'm sure will all come together and be really cool. I'm just going to go in with a good attitude and a clear head and a grateful heart."
The original members include Axl Rose, Slash, Izzy Stradlin, Duff McKagen and Steven Adler. Just because they will be in attendance doesn't necessarily mean they'll pick up their instruments to perform, but it's a start at least. Especially since the group's differences are well known.

The classic Guns N' Roses lineup will all attend the band's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, it has been confirmed. Keyboard player Dizzy Reed suggested to Billboard that Axl Rose would be joined by Appetite for Destruction players Slash, Izzy Stradlin, Duff McKagan and Steven Adler. "I know that all the original band is going to be there," Reed said. "I don't know exactly what's going to go down. "It's one of those things I'm sure will all come together and be really cool. I'm just going to go in with a good attitude and a clear head and a grateful heart." Reed, who joined the band in 1990, is the longest-standing member of Guns N' Roses aside from frontman Rose. Of whether he had discussed the ceremony with the singer, Reed said: "Honestly, (more)...

Guns N' Roses will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April and ahead of the ceremony, the band announced Monday (Jan. 30) that it will play three shows at small New York clubs in February to celebrate the induction, reports the New York Times.
But -- here's the key information -- the club dates will be performed by the current iteration of Guns N' Roses led by frontman Axl Rose, who owns the band name. He will not be joined by his ex-bandmates from classic Gn'r glory days -- guitarist Slash, Izzy Stradlin, Duff McKagan and Steven Adler.
We're still pulling for a reunion, but still isn't clear who will be on hand at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame when the band is inducted in April. Hey guys, if Black Sabbath can do it, dangit, you can, too.

Did you start the morning feeling slightly more hopeful for humanity? I did, but only because I read the news that VH1 has taken Celebrity Rehab off its schedule for the foreseeable future. If you've never seen Celebrity Rehab, know that it is perhaps the lowest of the reality TV low. Lower than Temptation Island. Lower than The Swan. Lower than Animal Hoarders, though probably just barely. If you think watching Jersey Shore is troubling because you're pretty sure the cast members need help, imagine what it's like to know they need help, and yet you're watching them get treated by the doctor from Loveline when they're not cracking wise with Heidi Fleiss and the drummer from Guns N' Roses. The show was a success for the station — it even had a spin-off, Sober House — and completed its fifth season this summer. Unfortunately, 2011 also [...]...

Also on the roster for the induction ceremony, which will take place on April 14 in Cleveland and air on HBO in early May, is early influence blues guitarist Freddie King and nonperformer Don Kirshner,...
