- Was instrumental in connecting fellow comic artist Frank Miller with Robert Rodriguez, leading to their collaboration on the movie Sin City (2005), based on Miller's comic. Since 1998, Rodriguez has possessed the movie rights to Allred's "Madman" comic.

In 2005, he wrote and drew (with wife Laura doing colours) "The Golden Plates", a fully-illustrated adaptation of the Latter-Day Saint tome "The Book of Mormon". He insists that his comics are not subversive, but acknowledges that his faith influences all of his work.
