Matt Reeves' 2022 film "The Batman" featured the title character in yet another rebooted continuity, this time even darker and grittier than ever before. Batman (Robert Pattinson) was seen as a pale-skinned, stoic outsider, rarely making public appearances as Bruce Wayne, preferring to use his fists to ignite fear in the hearts of the criminal underground. He didn't smile and seemed incapable of experiencing happiness. The Riddler (Paul Dano) was reimagined to resemble the real-life Zodiac Killer, and murdered people on the regular. Gotham City was more corrupt than ever, and it is tantalizingly suggested at one point that Bruce Wayne's late father might have opened the door for massive corruption to leak into the city's legislature. Sadly, that moment is walked back.

Brad Pitt has won the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for his performance as stunt double Cliff Booth in Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.”
In a fairly competitive category, Pitt beat out fellow nominees Tom Hanks (Fred Rogers in “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood”), Anthony Hopkins (Pope Benedict XVI in “The Two Popes”), Al Pacino (Jimmy Hoffa in “The Irishman”), and Joe Pesci (Russell Bufalino in “The Irishman”).
This is Pitt’s fourth nomination as an actor, and his first acting Oscar win. Previously, he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in 1996 for “12 Monkeys,” for Best Actor in 2009 for “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” for Best Actor in 2012 for “Moneyball.”
As a producer, he has three Best Picture nominations: “Moneyball” (2012), “12 Years a Slave” (2014), and “The Big Short” (2016). He won for “12 Years a Slave,” which was his first ever Oscar win.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood character Rick Dalton played a flamethrower-wielding Nazi hunter in one of his movies, The 14 Fists of McCluskey. There’s a whole story revolving around this flamethrower that is set up over the course of the film.
While watching the movie, DiCaprio seemed very comfortable using the the Flamethrower, but he wasn’t comfortable with it at all! You see, DiCaprio had to use a real flamethrower to really set some of his co-stars on fire. We see this scene in the trailer for the film.
DiCaprio was concerned that he would hurt someone, and it was the film’s co-stunt coordinator Robert Alonzo, who worked on easing DiCaprio’s concerns by having himself be set on fire first. Alonzo recalled in an interview with Huff Post:
“Leo was not very gung-ho with all the flamethrower stuff. Literally, he doesn’t want to hurt anyone.

Of all the reimagined bits of history that round out Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” there’s one sequence that continues to divide moviegoers. The scene — a wild, on-set, hand-to-hand battle between Brad Pitt’s stuntman Cliff Booth and Mike Moh as the legendary Bruce Lee — involves plenty of elements worth unpacking, including the use of a historical figure. But some audiences are struggling to understand where it fits in the film’s narrative.
The Bruce Lee/Cliff Booth fight has become one of the film’s biggest points of controversy since “Hollywood” hit theaters late last month. Both Lee’s daughter Shannon Lee and protégé Dan Inosanto have spoken out against Tarantino for his portrayal of the martial arts and acting legend in the scene.
Actor Mike Moh, who plays Lee in the film, recently admitted that he was conflicted at first about taking on the part as written,...

There’s been a lot of talk regarding how Quentin Tarantino handled Bruce Lee in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Some people enjoyed it because it was fun, entertaining, and unexpected, while others didn’t care for how Lee was portrayed seeing it as an insult to the character.
Bruce Lee’s daughter Shannon previously talked about her dislike for how her father was portrayed saying:
“He comes across as an arrogant asshole who was full of hot air, and not someone who had to fight triple as hard as any of those people did to accomplish what was naturally given to so many others.”
“I can understand all the reasoning behind what is portrayed in the movie. I understand that the two characters are antiheroes and this is sort of like a rage fantasy of what would happen… and they’re portraying a period of time that clearly...

Few moments in Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” are as memorable as when Leonardo DiCaprio’s Rick Dalton gets a flamethrower and incinerates Manson cult member Susan Atkins (Mikey Madison) to death. Rick has a flamethrower in his possession due to his role in the WWII movie “The 14 Fists of McCluskey,” a scene from which is shown early on in “Hollywood” that memorably features Rick’s character burning a group of Nazis. While Rick effortlessly wields the flamethrower, DiCaprio was not as gung-ho about it as his onscreen character.
In an interview with HuffPo, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” stunt coordinator Robert Alonzo says DiCaprio was a little freaked out about using the flamethrower himself and burning up actors on set. Alonzo said he “has a lot of experience with fire-burning” after working as a stunt coordinator for 23 years, so he tried to ease DiCaprio...

When it comes to “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” one scene that is proving to be most controversial is the fight between Bruce Lee (Mike Moh) and Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt). Bruce Lee’s daughter and protégé have already spoken out against the film, condemning Quentin Tarantino for his portrayal of the martial arts and acting legend. In an interview with HuffPo, “Hollywood” stunt coordinator Robert Alonzo reveals Tarantino originally wrote a much longer version of the Bruce Lee fight scene.
In the film, Bruce Lee challenges Cliff to a three-round fight on the set of “The Green Hornet” after Cliff insults him by laughing when he says his fists have been registered as lethal weapons. Lee quickly wins the first round by knocking Cliff to the ground, then Cliff wins round two by launching Lee into the side of a car. Just before the two men can engage in the final round,...

Every movie nominated this year for a best picture Oscar employed a stunt coordinator. Yet not one of these individuals will have the opportunity to receive Academy Award recognition.
The Oscars acknowledge categories ranging across multiple disciplines that support a film’s story and visual dynamics. But the stunt department’s contributions remain unsung. This might be due to misperceptions about what stunt performers actually do these days. Stunt coordinator Melissa R. Stubbs (“Tully”) has been a voting member of the Academy since 2007. When she began her career, stunt actors were viewed as adrenaline junkies with “Kodak courage” — her term for the desire to do the biggest, most dangerous stunt sequences just for the glory of having it captured on film.
In a world of pricey digital effects, stunt departments present themselves differently now. Their mission: to advance the narrative by means of repeatable, safe sequences that are also budget-friendly.

This Friday, Tom Cruise returns to theaters in Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, a sequel to his 2012 action thriller. This time, he works to clear the name of a government colleague (How I Met Your Mother star Cobie Smulders), gets embroiled in a conspiracy, and discovers that he may have a teenage daughter he never knew about.
I had the opportunity to speak with co-writer/director Ed Zwick by phone about the new film, including bringing his more humanist touch to the franchise, how he went about topping the action scenes from the first movie, what he thinks Cruise responds to about working with him (this is their second collaboration, following 2003's The Last Samuari), and more.
GeekTyrant: Thanks for speaking with me. Let me start with this: I heard reports that Chris McQuarrie (who directed the first film) was initially going to direct this movie before he slid into...

Los Angeles, April 20: Hollywood star Tom Cruise is better and competent than most professional stuntmen in the industry, says Rob Alonzo, assistant stunt coordinator in "Jack Reacher".
"Tom is so well rounded, he's better than most stuntmen. He's an incredible driver, an incredible fighter and stunt performer," contactmusic.com quoted Alonzo as saying.
"He flies planes, he knows how to ride horses, he rides motorcylces, so any director would be lucky to have a guy like that because they can keep the camera on him the whole time and it's more engaging," he added.
Alonzo also said that Cruise, 50, prefers to do his own.

Is it a comedy? Or is Akshay Kumar back in action for Housefull 2? According to sources the script for the sequel has devised some of the scariest action sequences ever. Apparently, Akshay's introductory stunt in Housefull 2 would be directed by Robert Alonzo who is Tom Cruise's stunt co-ordinator in Mission Impossible 4. Forget the nerd who gets conned into marriage by a woman who elopes with her boyfriend on their honeymoon. Akshay is done with his nerdy avatar. According to a reliable source, in Housefull 2, he plays a character twice as wicked, destructive and devilish as the one he played in the Sajid Nadiadwala's production Mujhse Shaadi Karogi. According to a source, Akshay's character in Housefull 2 is an extension of the smartass who dupes Salman Khan in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi than the wimp who loses love each time in Housefull.
