Franz Bachelin was born on November 10, 1895 in Sinsheim, Germany. He was an art director and production designer, known for Journey to the Center of the Earth (1959), Stalag 17 (1953) and Calcutta (1946). He was married to Anita Bachelin. He died on May 26, 1980 in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles, California, USA.
He was a frequent collaborator of director John Farrow, designing eleven films for him (as well as working on "Red Mountain", a film on which Farrow directed some additional scenes without credit).
