Investigating Murdoch Mysteries is the official companion book to the Canadian TV series Murdoch Mysteries. The TV show is based on the books by Maureen Jennings and follows Detective Murdoch as he makes his way through Victorian Toronto in the 1890s. I’ve never watched the show myself so I can’t say that my review will be as passionate as perhaps a fans take on the book.
If you’re a fan of the series, in this book Michelle Ricci, producer of the show, Mir Bahmanyar, and Maureen Jennings present an in-depth blueprint of the TV show for you and new viewers. The director of Cold In July and We Are What We Are has graduated to the studio world and will helm Legendary’s wildfire action film.
Esperanza is based on Sean O’Keefe’s screenplay adapted from the novel by John N Maclean about a perfect storm of wildfires. Legendary’s Alex Hedlund will oversee the project.
Mickle’s (pictured) Cold In July premiered at Sundance 2014 and played in Cannes, while We Are What We Are screened in 2013 in Sundance and Cannes.
O’Keefe is currently writing the remake of The Escapist for Studio Canal with Rupert Wyatt producing and Liam Neeson attached to star.
He has Riders On The Storm at Fox with Davis Entertainment, while Joe Roth and Mir Bahmanyar are producing his 2012 Black List Project The Paper Man.

There is either a couple of football fans or Jerry Maguire/Moneyball with this year’s most liked unproduced screenplay. Close to 300 hundred film executives provided with the Black List creators a top ten of their favorite screenplays of the year and the consensus first overall pick (with 65 votes) comes from the recently featured in Variety (10 Screenwriters to Watch 2012) tandem of Rajiv Joseph & Scott Rothman and their drama which has nothing to do with enlisting in the armed forces.
