When Jeff Bridges was making Starman in 1984, Karen Allen saw some of his photographs and suggested he combine them with unti photographer Sidney Baldwin’s work to create an album. He did, and continued to make those collections for different film sets, giving them away as gifts to the casts and crews along the way. Now, The International Center of Photography is celebrating Bridges’ talents behind the camera at their Infinity Awards. The New York Times spoke with Bridges for a fantastic article on his photography (and his “fickle mistress” of a camera), and one thing is clear: the guy has gotten really good at self-portraits. There’s a natural drama imbued in what he’s capturing because he has access to the deepest recesses of film sets, but even without the famous faces and iconography, he’s captured some stunningly high-contrast visuals. Chicago – The expansive and intuitive prose poetry of Ntozake Shange’s “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf” comes to life in Tyler Perry’s film adaptation “For Colored Girls.” Thandie Newton portrays Tangie (color Orange) and saturates the character with a precise truth.
Newton is familiar to audiences as a performer in many notable films. After making a memorable debut in the Australian film “Flirting” (1992), she has been featured in “Jefferson in Paris” (1995), “Beloved” (1998), “Mission Impossible II” (2000), the TV show “ER,” “The Pursuit of Happyness” (2006) and as Condoleeza Rice in “W.” (2008). She might be best remembered for her role as Christine in the Oscar winning Best Picture of 2005, “Crash.”

Chicago – The advancement of medicine has brought about many things: longer life-expectancy, treatments for serious illnesses such as cancer, artificial conception, and genetic modification. Though there are positive aspects to each of these things, inherent within each are moral dilemmas we will have to face.
Rating: 2.5/5.0 “My Sister’s Keeper” casts the spotlight on such a dilemma. Abigail Breslin (of “Little Miss Sunshine” and “Defiantly, Maybe”) plays Anna, a child who was conceived artificially to be a perfect genetic match and donor for her dying sister, Kate (Sofia Vassilieva of “Medium”).
Read Elizabeth Oppriecht’s full review of “My Sister’s Keeper” in our reviews section. From a very young age Kate has been diagnosed with Leukemia, and both girls suffer through numerous medical procedures to keep her alive.

Queen Latifah, Sophie Okonedo, Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys and Dakota Fanning in The Secret Life of Bees
Photo: Sidney Baldwin / Fox Searchlight Overall I would say it is a rather successful weekend with Max Payne coming in just slightly lower than expected, Oliver Stone's W. doing as expected if not better and The Secret Life of Bees outperforming all expectations. There was one major casualty in Summit's Sex Drive, but we'll get to that in a second. First, at the top of this week's pile will be Max Payne coming in with an estimated $6.75 million on Friday and is expected to land somewhere in the realm of $18.5 million for the weekend, which is only $400k more than our Oscar Oracle predicted on Thursday. I am not sure how you compare it to other video game adaptations since the genre is a bit hit-or-miss and has certainly declined since the...
