Dool fans are bracing themselves for the emotional funeral of Doug Williams after Bill Hayes’ passing. But will the show bring back Doug’s daughter Hope and her beloved Bo for the tribute?
Dool To Mourn Doug Williams, Celebrate Bill Hayes
Daytime television lost one of the greats in early 2024 when actor Bill Hayes passed away at the age of 98. He played Doug Williams on Days Of Our Lives for over 50 years. His real-life wife, Susan Seaforth Hayes, played Julie Williams, Doug’s wife.
The characters became the show’s matriarch and patriarch after the passing of Alice and Tom Horton (Frances Reid and Macdonald Carey.)
Days of Our Lives plans to kill off Doug Williams to pay tribute to both Bill Hayes and the character at the same time. The soap films months in advance, which means the funeral won’t air until December.

Long-time director, producer, and, most recently, executive producer Albert Alarr was fired from Days of Our Lives following a misconduct investigation.
The complaints said Alarr was known for making staffers feel "uncomfortable and humiliated."
Former cast member Lisa Rina said that after her last visit to the Days spinoff, Beyond Salem, "I couldn't believe the work environment. It was disgusting. I was shocked."
The investigation took nine weeks, and originally Alarr was going to keep his job but be reprimanded and sent right back to work. But cast and crew said they'd had enough, as over 25 of them signed a petition demanding that Alarr be determined.
Our TV Fanatics and avid Days of Our Lives fans, Jack Ori, Laura Nowak, and Christine Orlando, are here to break down what happened and how it may have affected what we've seen on screen and will see in the future.

Dan Feuerriegel traded in his Australian accent for a British one last year when he was cast in the role of Days of our Lives’ dashing Ej Dimera, who was raised in England. Prior to becoming a household name among soap opera fans, the actor was best known to TV audiences for his role as gladiator Agron in the Starz series Spartacus: Blood and Sand, Spartacus: Vengeance, and Spartacus: War of the Damned. Recently, viewers have seen Ej be a rock in the life of his attorney Belle Black (Martha Madison), who’s been devastated that her husband Shawn Brady (Brandon Beemer) has fathered a son with troublemaking Jan Spears (Heather Lindell). TV Insider sat down with Feuerriegel to chat about his first full year in Salem, why he was glad he was taping for a few months before viewers knew for certain that he’d been cast, Ej’s relationship with Belle,...

Jan Spears, played by Heather Lindell, finally came out of her coma back in 2019 for the digital limited series Days of our Lives’ Last Blast Reunion. Soon after, she migrated back to the NBC daytime soap and has remained a thorn in Shawn’s (Brandon Beemer) and Belle’s (Martha Madison) side ever since. Her latest stunt — with Satan’s help — was to morph into Belle and seduce an unknowing Shawn. As viewers have learned, Jan’s now pregnant, presumably with Shawn’s baby! TV Insider chatted with Lindell about her irrepressible character, what she did in between Jan falling into a coma, and when she revived her antagonistic character. (Credit: NBC) You were off Days of Our Lives from 2005, when Jan went into a coma, until 2019. Why’d that take so long?! Jan’s a hoot! Heather Lindell: Thank you. I never thought I’d be back at the show.

Keep calm; ‘Days of Our Lives’ is in fact carrying on. NBC Entertainment chairman Paul Telegdy confirmed at the Television Critics Assn. press tour that the long-running daytime drama will be returning for another season on NBC.
“We’re in the middle of knowing very soon [whether] ‘Days of Our Lives’ is going to carry on,” said Telegdy. “We love it. Millions of Americans watch it every week. … I know this will be good news for the fans. I know that someone [at the network is] going, ‘You can’t say that,” but we are of course carrying on with ‘Days of Our Lives.'”
That follows news in November that the entire cast of the series had been released from their contracts. Not long after that, however, sources told Variety that the series was nearing a deal for a renewal for Season 56.

Last week Soap Opera Digest reported exclusively that actress Farah Fath is on her way back to “Days of Our Lives” to reprise her role as Mimi Lockhart, whom she previously played for eight years from 1999 to 2007. But not only will she be reuniting with the other citizens of Salem, she’ll also be working again with head writer Ron Carlivati, who wrote for her on “One Life to Live” from 2007 to 2012. But how long will Fath be back? On Twitter she explained, “We’re calling it a ‘handful of episodes.'”
Fath joined the cast of “Days” in 1999 when she was just 15-years-old. Her character Mimi was best friends with Belle Black (currently played by Martha Madison) and at one point was married to Shawn Douglas Brady (currently played by Brandon Beemer). She left town after discovering that she had killed her abusive father but had suppressed the memory.
