Lou Bega’s 1999 smash-hit “Mamba No. 5” was undoubtedly an inescapable earworm, but Stephen King’s wife wanted to escape it so badly she almost split from the author.
The 75-year-old author admitted playfully in a new interview in Rolling Stone published last Tuesday that he was so into the infectious track that his wife “threatened to divorce me.”

“I played that a lot,” explained the Carrie author.
“I had the dance mix. I loved those extended play things, and I played both sides of it. And one of them was just total instrumental. And I played that thing until my wife just said, ‘One more time, and I’m going to f***ing leave you.’”

Stephen King has revealed that he was once such a fan of Lou Bega’s “Mambo No. 5 (A Little Bit Of…)” that his wife threatened divorce.
In a new interview with Rolling Stone, the King of Horror was asked about his obsession with the 1999 Latin pop hit, giving King the opportunity to share exactly how obsessed he was with a particular remix of the song. After admitting he was a “big time” fan of the track, King recalled how his wife was on her final straw.

First there was Monster (T-Pain). Then there was Miss Monster (Chaka Khan). Later came Squiggly Monster (Bob Saget). And now there’s … Grandpa Monster! This orange, elderly, bearded creature hopes to follow in T-Pain’s footsteps by winning “The Masked Singer” Season 5, and he’s on the right track as he already has the support of the show’s panelists. “You know you shut it down when your unifocal is fogged up,” laughed Nicole Scherzinger after watching Grandpa Monster give it his all on the stage during his debut performance on Wednesday, March 17.

Logan Paul admits his experience on “The Masked Singer” got off to a rough start. Paul, who was the next celebrity to be unmasked on Wednesday’s episode of “The Masked Singer,” said learning to sing and dance at the same time for the show wasn’t exactly what he expected.
“I can barely sing, I’ve never performed in this way, let alone adding dancing to this,” said Paul, who performed as Grandpa Monster. “This is a nightmare. And it was at first, until I crossed that hump and really started falling in love with the show.”
But he recalled being “scared and hesitant” early on. “My PR team got the angry call, I was like, ‘this show is not for me I’m not good at it.

One of the reasons we love “The Masked Singer” so much is that we are obsessed with trying to figure out the names of the famous faces hidden beneath those elaborated masks. Within seconds, we knew that the Phoenix was Caitlyn Jenner when she performed for the one and only time on episode 2 of season 5 back on March 17. Since then, we’ve been busy trying to crack the codes of the identities for the rest of the contestants in Group B.
These four famous folk returned to compete on March 31 disguised as the Black Swan, Chameleon, Grandpa Monster and Piglet. We readily admit that the one name we are least certain about is that of the celebrity hiding inside the Grandpa Monster costume.

To market, to market, to guess a fat pig. Is it a boy-bander, jiggity jig?
Group B’s entreé in this week’s The Masked Singer introduces us to five new contestants: Phoenix, Grandpa Monster, Black Swan, Chameleon and Piglet. And the voice and clues on that last one are very reminiscent of a certain 98 Degrees member, in my opinion. But we’ll get to that in a minute. Group B took the stage for the first time during Wednesday night’s episode of “The Masked Singer” and proved to be a formidable collection of animals and creatures. (Group A is expected to return next week.) One by one, Black Swan, Chameleon, Grandpa Monster, Phoenix and Piglet performed for the votes of the virtual audience and panelists Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong and Nicole Scherzinger. We’ve been looking at Lou Bega all wrong. For decades, the “Mambo No. 5" singer has lived in our cultural memory as a figure of fun—a guy who just loves to dance, name women’s names, and wear old-timey clothes. As a virtual escape room ominously named Chamber No.5 makes clear, we were wrong. Bega has, in fact, been…...

As Rambo: Last Blood arrives on the big screen, Mark revisits Garth Jennings’ Son Of Rambow, an altogether gentler First Blood spin-off…
Placed next to First Blood and the unexpectedly long-lived Rambo franchise, Garth Jennings’ Son of Rambow doesn't seem so odd. More than 30 years after the original adaptation of David Morrell’s novel, we’re now looking at Last Blood, or Rambo No. 5, as Lou Bega might have called it. Although the original film represents some of Sylvester Stallone's best acting work, it doesn't necessarily have “action franchise” written all over it.
With that in mind, it’s not so odd that a family-friendly British comedy would position two 12-year-olds in 1980s Hertfordshire as the makers of an unofficial sequel. Released in 2007, Jennings’ film is an ode to how we interact with films as youngsters--specifically with a film the characters are definitely too young to see.

Back in 1999, Lou Bega got everyone moving to his chart-topping track "Mambo No. 5 (A little bit of?)" as he counted "one, two, three, four, five". It's been 20 years since its launch, but the Munich-born Grammy nominated singer is yet to recreate that commercial success. He says even back then he knew that he wouldn't be able to climb the mountain twice.
He followed up his 1999 debut album "A Little Bit of Mambo" with "Ladies and Gentlemen" in 2001, "Lounatic" in 2005, "Free Again" in 2010 and "A Little Bit of 80s" in 2013. But to many, Lou is still the "Mambo No. 5 (A little bit of?)" hitmaker.
Asked if there is always pressure on him to make a better song, Lou Bega told the publication: "It is impossible. It is one of the most played songs in the pop history. It is crazy."

Idris Elba’s new Netflix comedy Turn Up Charlie seems less a TV show than a checklist of things Elba wanted to do on camera. In the series (it debuts March 15th; I watched six of the eight episodes), which Elba co-created with Gary Reich, he plays Charlie, a Nineties one-hit wonder (he’s confused for Lou Bega in one episode) who these days DJs at weddings while lying to his parents in Nigeria that he’s still a huge success. Tracy Morgan channeled a little bit of Lou Bega on Jimmy Kimmel Live. The actor unveiled the “exclusive world premiere” of mock biopic Mambo No. 5. The spoof traced the origins of Lou Bega’s 1999 hit, beginning with Morgan as Bega telling his father he wants to be a mambo star instead of work in a paprika mine, like his dad.
His dream comes true as he’s later seen in a studio working on lyrics, apparently while being hungry. “A little bit of pineapple. No,” Morgan reprimands himself. “A little bit of Italian sausage sandwich.

Surprise surprise, we’re back with Another review of a karaoke game! What’s more surprising is that it seems Let’s Sing 2019 is the only update to any of this generations karaoke game franchises this year. So no head-to-head review for this year unfortunately. But what that does mean is that Let’s Sing has the entire karaoke market to itself – whether that’s a good thing remains to be seen.
Last year we struggled to find both Let’s Sing 2018 and We Sing Pop at retail – which is undoubtedly why this years game, Let’s Sing 2019, has made its debut digitally Before coming to retail later this year. What the issue with distribution is I do not know but I’m hoping a digital-only future is not on the cards. Going digital only would not bode well for the future of the series, or the genre as a whole.

During Wednesday’s Full Frontal, Samantha Bee called out Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Speaker of the House Paul Ryan as being “every bit as compromised by Russia as [President] Trump.” In fact, she said, “They’re worse! McConnell and Ryan have so far put up with whatever [Russian President Vladimir Putin] wants, and as far as we know they haven’t been peed on by anyone.”
While Bee has repeatedly criticized Trump throughout the Russia investigation, she devoted most of this segment to skewering Republican lawmakers’ reaction to the president’s controversial summit with Putin in Finland.

Sometimes you’ve just gotta burst into song, and if you’re James Corden and Harry Styles, that tends to be at pretty inappropriate moments. The 23-year-old British singer continued his Late Late Show residency on Wednesday night where he participated in a funny sketch with the show’s host.

"Harry Styles and I have known each other for a long time, but what people might not know is that we've worked together many times,” Corden explained. “Unfortunately, our mutual love of singing has always gotten us into trouble.”
The skit then cut to Corden and Styles as doctors in the operating room. They had an urgent surgery, but couldn’t stop themselves from breaking into the Tom Jones’ classic “It’s Not Unusual.”

This random two-minute quiz, however, just seemed too necessary to pass up (click the link to play): Can you name the girls mentioned in Lou Bega’s Mambo No. 5? I got 7 out of 9, and was pissed off about the ones I missed, even though I kept trying to reassure myself that not knowing “Mambo No. 5″ verbatim was some sort of positive thing (sure). Feel free to brag/vent your own score in the comments. (For the record, the quiz was originally posted almost three years ago, but for whatever reason was Featured on their front page this week,...

Remember 1999? When we were afraid of the lights going out on Y2K? When President Bill Clinton was acquitted? When Sega still made game consoles? Those were good times. Boy bands were still “hot” and Saving Private Ryan won best picture (wait… what?).
Sadly, those days are gone, but thanks to some web genius we now have a perfect union of two of 1999′s most notable contributions to the pop culture lexicon: The Matrix and Mambo No. 5. (Fun fact, my friend Trevor and I went to our 8th grade Halloween party as Lou Bega and Neo, respectively.) Check out the...

Let’s face it: music is an indelible part of our lives. No matter what we’re listening to, music often accompanies us through life: in the car, at the gym, and during important moments that you will never forget (especially if there’s a song playing that will be emblazoned into your memory forever and ever amen like Eric Clapton’s “Wonderful Tonight” or Lou Bega’s “Mambo No. 5″) (my life is weird). Kids love music, too, so much that they will happily sing along to popular songs. And sometimes they’ll press “record” on a webcam or something and their parents or friends will capture those precious moments. And sometimes, in those precious moments, adorable little kids will somehow stumble into darker territory, meaning they will sing along to some “adult” songs, and it will be odd, cute, and silly all at once. Here are 12 Adorable Kids Singing Really Inappropriate Songs: Christina Aguilera,...

Well… This image is on the internet this morning. Let’s talk about it for a little. First, let me address the question you’re all asking. No, I don’t know what’s on the other side of her head. It might be plain black hair or it might be a photo-realistic replica of a Count Chocula ceral box. I don’t have the technology to rotate around this photo in three dimensions and find out. I’m not all the guys who aren’t Will Smith in Enemy of the State. Secondly, I’m going to ask you to perhaps reconsider your immediate reaction, which I’m going to assume was one of disgust. Yeah, that’s right. I don’t think you’re progressive minded enough to not immediately judge this woman. I know some of you are all like, “No way, I thought this was Awesome!

A one-hit wonder is a person or act known mainly for only a single success. Sure, they were super popular at one point, but thanks to them being on constant replay on radio stations, TV and the internet, we're glad to be rid of them for good. Sure, there's a ton of one-hit wonders out there, but we've gathered together the most annoying top 10 one-hit wonders of the last decade. Check out the list below and tell us who gets your number one vote. 10. Lou Bega: "Mambo No. 5" Lou Bega's "...

As the Lou Bega song goes, Kim Kardashian’s new boyfriend Cristiano Ronaldo “gotta girlfriend everywhere.” In fact, our Kim is one of 20 that Ronaldo has been linked with, making Warren Beatty’s younger self look like an altar server.
For those living in the United States, Ronaldo is a Portuguese soccer player for the Spanish club Real Madrid. Get this: Ronaldo first met our Kim at an event at the Beverly Hills Hotel last year. In Spain, Ronaldo gave Kim what every woman wants: kisses and a mansion to lay around…in Spain.
Bleacher Report counts down Ronaldo’s previous girlfriends. Hopefully, they don’t just drop in unannounced the next time Kim is in town.
Here we go:
20. Niki Ghazian. She’s a law student, model and enjoys playing football in her underwear. Seriously.
19. Nuria Burmedez. She’s a professional soccer agent…who likes to wear a snake around her neck.

'Cops' booked for 23rd season, 'Girl With the Red Riding Hood' nabs a leading man (Excess Hollywood)
Fox has decided to renew Cops for a 23rd season. It's not necessarily a good thing that the show never stops finding material, right? [THR] After starring in The Last Song, Liam Hemsworth is in talks to star alongside Dennis Quaid in The Throwback, a basketball drama. Score. [The Wrap] The Catherine Hardwicke-directed Girl With the Red Riding Hood has found its male lead in actor Shiloh Fernandez. The actor will play "an orphaned woodcutter" who romances star Amanda Seyfried. Things we know about Fernandez: He's appeared in United States of Tara and Jericho. Also, he tested for Edward Cullen in Twilight,...

Daniel Powter's 2005 hit 'Bad Day' has been named the biggest one-hit wonder of the decade. The track, which was used as the kiss-off song on the fifth season of American Idol, came first in the list compiled by Billboard. Despite spending five weeks at No. 1 in the Us, Powter did not achieve any further chart success. Other songs featured in the list include James Blunt's 'You're Beautiful' at 6, Lou Bega's 'Mambo No. 5' at 13 and Samantha Mumba's 'Gotta Tell You' in 20th place The acts and songs were ranked by how high their hit single climbed on the (more)...

Oliver Stone and Hugo Chavez, sitting on a tree... S-p-i-n-n-i-n-g. Back again with the best, worst and weirdest updates from the movie world, including director Oliver Stone's trip down to South of the Border, being buddy-buddies with controversial heads of state. That gave me an idea. How about a new Rambo movie where he rescues lefty filmmakers from mad dictators? What's that, you say? There's already a new Rambo movie in the works?

John Mayer made an observation that lead to an interesting exchange via the social networking site. Yesterday, the guitar giant tweeted, "Listening to the hits channel on Sirius. I will reserve criticism but say that every ninth year of a decade really brings the junk." He went on to point out that the charts in 1979, '89 and '99 are all relatively low-quality, and in the meantime, the "2" years ('82, '92 and 2002) all seem to produce greatness. Mayer uses the example of Warrant to throw 1989 under the bus, which is a brilliant strategy considering that their album Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich was not only gigantic but also represented the predominant trend of the era (that being hair metal). But is it a fair assessment of the decade? And how do those other years measure up?
Mayer is a little unfair to 1979, as the top singles from that year were a mix of disco tracks,...

It’s a relatively quiet week for new releases. There’s Regina Spektor’s follow-up to her breakout, a new album from the Mars Volta and the latest from Pete Yorn. But today also sees the release of A Casual Affair: The Best of Tonic.
This begs the question: Huh?
For anybody who didn’t come of age in the Clinton years, Tonic had a big radio hit in 1996 with a tune called “If You Could Only See.” After that, they basically fell off the map (save for a few appearances on various soundtracks to the “American Pie” movies). The set contains that single plus a bunch of other songs that never quite got there. Even if you allow that “You Wanted More” and “Open Up Your Eyes” were “hits,” that’s still only three tunes on a 15-track album. Three songs is an Ep, not a $15 album.
