While it may not be the pinnacle of achievement in the romantic comedy genre, the new film – Marry Me – starring Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson, proves to be a delightfully entertaining piece that surprises in how likable a film it turns out to be.
Lopez plays Kat Valdez, a character much like her real-world personage in that she is seemingly everywhere all the time. Kat is betrothed to Bastian (Maluma), a music superstar in the making himself. They currently have a single dedicated to their romance, “Marry Me,” climbing the charts as they prepare to hold the actual ceremony as part of a concert before Kat’s adoring fans. Just before the big moment however, Kat discovers evidence of Bastian’s infidelity and, as she stands before the crowd, shocked by her discovery, she spots high-school math teacher Charlie Gilbert (Wilson) in the crowd with his daughter Lou (Chloe Coleman...

One of the largest and few concentration camps outside of Germany during World War II was at Jasenovac in the Nazi puppet state known as the Independent State of Croatia. In the new film “Dara of Jasenovac,” we see a rare side of the Holocaust from another part of Europe and from the eyes of a 10-year-old girl.
“Dara of Jasenovac” is Serbia’s submission for the Best International Feature race at the Oscars, and it documents a moment in history that still sits at a contested area between Croatia and Serbia. TheWrap can exclusively share the above trailer from 101 Studios ahead of its limited theatrical release. But while Holocaust films are highly common at the Academy Awards, this film from director Predrag Peter Antonijevic is a true story you haven’t heard.

With Dara of Jasenovac, executive producer Michael Berenbaum spotlights a little-known concentration camp in Croatia, where 20,000 Serb, Jewish and Roma children were killed. Directed by Peter “Gaga” Antonijevic, the first cinematic portrait of the Jasenovac complex follows a courageous 12-year-old, surrounded by horrific violence, as she fights to ensure the survival of her younger brother.
In making a World War II drama centered on children, Antonijevic and Berenbaum had to carefully consider both the violence they were putting on screen and the environment they were creating on set. “Gaga has a very skillful touch and could relate to these kids very nicely,” Berenbaum says during the 101 Studios film’s panel at Deadline’s Contenders International awards-season event. “He made them feel safe, while experiencing something that was overwhelmingly the opposite of safe.”

Is this a thrilling, Chinatown-like Hollywood mystery, or a semi-docu about the making of the first TV Superman show? Or is it going to shed light on the mysterious death of actor George Reeves, the childhood hero we couldn’t believe had died by his own hand? Allen Coulter’s well-crafted show has a lot to say and says it well with an excellent cast… yet it needed something it doesn’t deliver. If you don’t require your movieland mysteries tied up in a neat bow, this could fit the bill.

Eva Longoria still believes “Desperate Housewives” may have been TV’s “perfect pilot.”
“It has everything, it sets up everything,” Longoria told Variety‘s “My Favorite Podcast.” “It’s super balanced in its storytelling. It was beautiful, it was stylized, it was stylistic and was so unique.”
Longoria credits creator Marc Cherry, who spent years developing and pitching “Desperate Housewives,” and pilot director Charles McDougall for creating a show that made a splash right out of the gate. For her, the “Desperate Housewives” pilot was a masterclass in how to create and launch a TV show, and she says she still uses what she learned from that experience as a producer launching her own shows.
“I always reference back to the ‘Desperate Housewives’ pilot for many things when I’m directing,” Longoria said. “There are so many iconic things that happened in the pilot.”

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has revealed its 276-member-strong class of 2013.
The list, published by The Hollywood Reporter, includes actors, cinematographers, designers, directors, documentarians, executives, film editors, makeup artists and hairstylists, "members-at-large," musicians, producers, PR folks, short filmmakers and animators, sound technicians, visual effects artists, and writers.
Jason Bateman, Rosario Dawson, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Milla Jovovich, Lucy Liu, Jennifer Lopez, Emily Mortimer, Sandra Oh, Jason Schwartzman, and Michael Peña are among the roster of actors, while "The Heat" and "Bridesmaids" helmer Paul Feig made the directors' cut.
"We did not change our criteria at all," says Academy president Hawk Koch of this year's larger-than-usual class. "Yes, this year there is a tremendous amount of women, a tremendous amount of people of color, people from all walks of life. This year, we asked the branches to look at everybody who wasn't in the Academy but who deserved to be.

There’s no denying the inherent historical value of A Film Unfinished, it features filmed footage intended for a Nazi propaganda film. For that slice of historical recording alone, A Film Unfinished earns itself a pass. However, assuming you’re not viewing the footage on mute and taking it in the way it was filmed (there’s no native sound to the footage), you have to watch it alongside the narration and interview audio that makes it a documentary. Its unique capacity for offering insight into Nazi propaganda is night unrivaled, unfortunately the exploration comes across as quite bland despite what should be an incredibly interesting subject.
The 1942 footage of Warsaw, as it was originally known, suggested a utopian world of Jewish society in the midst of the Nazi’s increasingly tight grip on their culture in the Polish city’s ghetto. At first the footage seemed like opportunistic editing,...

Chicago – Two of the best documentaries of 2010 were recently released on DVD and both are well-worth your time in the very near future as they serve as prime examples of the vitality of the form of non-fiction filmmaking. Both “A Film Unfinished” and the Oscar-winning “Inside Job” are riveting filmmaking, proof that subjects that one might consider dry can be turned into a devastating experience.
DVD Rating: 4.0/5.0
Just glancing at the descriptions of “A Film Unfinished” or “Inside Job,” a potential renter or buyer might think that they know all there is to know about their subjects or, worse, that they’re going to be lectured like they’re sitting in a classroom on a Saturday night. What more could we possibly learn about the Holocaust after decades of books and films on the subject? And how could a subject like the fall of the economy possibly be dramatically interesting?...
