Saundra Berkova began performing at age 3. At age 11, the New York
Times spoke of her in glowing terms, predicting a bright future.
Berkover continued to concertize until the mid 1950s. Then she dropped
out of sight.
Berkova, who was related to conductor Lorin Maazel, was arrested in
1957, one of over a hundred in a city-wide drug bust. The charges
against her were dropped. Berkova never appeared onstage again. She died in 1978.
