A surprising amount of "Star Trek" worldbuilding manifests in beverages. It does make sense, though, since not all alien worlds out there would have the same drinks that us Earthlings do. Take Klingon bloodwine; it's only natural that a warrior race literally drinks blood. The crystal-blue colored Romulan ale is consistently described as under embargo in the Federation; naturally, two warring powers don't conduct legal trade. While Cardassian Kanar is not consistently colored, it proved surprisingly integral to the arc of Damar (Casey Biggs), who takes solace in a bottle and must pull himself out of it to be a resistance leader during "Deep Space Nine."
"Star Trek: Lower Decks" is a love letter to each corner of the franchise's history. Sure enough, the latest episode has some beverage-related Easter eggs. In "Parth Ferengi's Heart Place," the U.S.S. Cerritos takes a trip to the Ferengi homeworld of Ferenginar.

This article contains spoilers for the latest episode of "Star Trek: Picard."
The third season of "Star Trek: Picard" brings back a lot of fan-favorite concepts and characters from the beloved series "Star Trek: The Next Generation," but it has also resurrected a major plot point from one of its contemporaries, "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine." In episode 3 (read our review here!), Worf (Michael Dorn) and Raffi (Michelle Hurd) discover that, after the events of the Dominion War, the Changelings splintered into two factions: one connected to the Great Link, with Odo (René Auberjonois), and another that wanted to complete the domination goals of the Founders and get revenge on the Federation and the whole Alpha Quadrant. There's also a Changeling aboard the Titan, wreaking havoc and sabotaging the ship at every turn. The Changelings are back in a big way, and they don't necessarily require an understanding of the...

Director/writer David O. Russell’s Amsterdam features a dazzling cast in a period mystery/adventure tale in which three friends, bound by a pact made during World War I, embark on a wild adventure set in 1930s New York, to solve a mystery involving murder, a secret organization, and a possible plot against America.
There really was such a plot, which is among the many historical tidbits woven into this adventure tale, that has big doses of humor and romance as well. Amsterdam’s story brings to mind the classic Hollywood mystery adventure tales of the 1930s or 1940s, like Casablanca, or early Alfred Hitchcock or maybe a spy-thriller starring Humphrey Bogart. Even though this film is not in black and white, in another sense,...

David O. Russell’s Amsterdam is a lot of movies inelegantly squidged into one — a zany screwball comedy, a crime thriller, an earnest salute to pacts of love and friendship, an antifascist history lesson with fictional flourishes. Those competing strands all have their merits, bolstered by entertaining character work from an uncommonly high-wattage ensemble. But can any film be called satisfying when the storytelling is so convoluted it takes an hour or more to settle on the kind of story it wants to tell, let alone a cohesive tone in which to tell it? Only once Robert De Niro shows up as a distinguished war veteran drawn into a nefarious political conspiracy does momentum kick in.
De Niro has been a regular collaborator of the director since his Oscar-nominated turn in 2013’s Silver Linings Playbook, and it’s great to see the actor...

"I call them my 'Sweet Parents', and this is my allowance..." Quiver Distribution has released the official trailer for Sweet Parents, an indie drama about two young people who have a Sugar Mama + Sugar Daddy funding them. When this happens, they are effectively the dependents of "Sweet Parents". The relationship between an aspiring sculptor and a struggling chef in New York is tested when they become entangled with wealthy older benefactors to further their careers. Of course. It's so obvious this is an attempt to normalize the concept, but it just seems so stressful for everyone involved. Sweet Parents stars David Bly and Leah Rudick (they both co-wrote the script) along with Casey Biggs, Barbara Weetman, Chris Roberti, and Sunita Mani. This looks rather sweet and honest, at least, but not sure there's much else worthwhile. Here's the new official trailer (+ poster) for David Bly's Sweet Parents, direct from YouTube...

This is one for the C-movie connoisseurs among you.
For those of you who don’t know (you won’t), there’s a new sci-fi spoof on the way called Unbelievable!!!!! It stars Snoop Dogg, 42 former Star Trek actors, Michael Madsen, and a ficus on a skateboard. That ought to answer all of your questions.
In the can for what appears to have been an eternity (some of the footage dates back as far as 2013), the film does at last have a release date. I say at last, but I’m not sure it was at the top of anyone’s list of movie treasure troves. Anyway, if you’re feeling particularly trashy (there’s no shame in that), sit down for Unbelievable!!!!! in an online premiere this August 1st. The premiere will also come with a virtual convention.
Two more items on the agenda to go through. One is the trailer,...

Dozens Of ‘Star Trek’ Actors Converge For Snoop Dogg’s Parody Pic ‘Unbelievable’ – Watch The Trailer
It’s a Trekkie delight. No idea why so many Star Trek actors thought this was a great idea, but they did. Snoop Dogg seems to be the furthest thing away from sci-fi as you can get, but he’s one of the stars Unbelievable, a parody film that uses a puppet for James T. Kirk. Watch the trailer for below.
The original score was written/composed by Emmy-winning, Oscar-nominated Gerald Fried — the last living composer from the original Star Trek series.
Snoop Dogg executive produced the film from writer-director Steven Fawcette that also stars Nichelle Nichols (who also co-produced), Angelique Fawcette (also a producer), Michael Madsen and Robert Davi. Also in the film are Casper Smart, Sam Asghari, Gilbert Gottfried and newcomer Katarina Van Derham.
Here are some of the 40-plus Star Trek actors who also appear: Garrett Wang, Chase Masterson Tim Russ, Armin Shimerman, Vaughn Armstrong, Gary Graham,...

Rumors are circulating that the Thanksgiving weekend science-fiction convention in Indianapolis beginning on Black Friday, Nov. 28, known as Starbase Indy, has been canceled by Vulkon organizers. No official word has been released, and a request for comment to Vulkon organizer Terri Tripp is pending return, but actor Casey Biggs (Damar, "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine") told fans that his appearance at the convention had been canceled. Other visitors to Vulkon's message board say the hotel that was hosting the convention -- the Indianapolis Marriott East -- is telling people that Vulkon has been postponed "into next year sometime," according to one poster. A hotel employee told SyFy Portal Tuesday morning that the convention had indeed been postponed. The Indianapolis convention had advertised ...
