Hannibal and Mary Kills People star Dhavernas also fronts this exclusive look at the movie's poster, with the tagline, "Success is an illusion."

It’s pilot season, which means your favorite out-of-work TV actors, actresses, creators and writers are getting a chance to return to the small screen once more.
Although we have yet to know what new series we’ll see next year, the networks have been busy selecting projects to consider for their schedules. So far, almost 100 scripts have been chosen, and audiences will only get to see a handful actually come to fruition.
Several are duds, but there are a few promising prospects that I hope network executives will keep around for the 2013-2014 season — even if it means they have to cancel old favorites to make room (just keep Parks and Recreation, Ok, NBC?).
Check out my choices for the best prospective ABC and Fox pilots, and read my selections for NBC and CBS if you missed them yesterday:

Next month, a new sitcom called "Work It," about two out-of-work salesmen who dress up as women to get jobs, will make its debut on ABC. There's nothing new about the premise -- Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari covered the same ground on the early-80s sitcom "Bosom Buddies" -- and the tone isn't exactly novel either. The stars of the show, Ben Koldyke and Amaury Nolasco, are operating in the prevailing frat-boy mode perfected by Bradley Cooper and Seann William Scott.
In May, an 84-second trailer of "Work It" hit the Internet, instantly attracting more blogger rage than most shows accumulate over the course of several seasons. Diane Haithman is contributing to Deadline's TCA coverage. After today’s TCA panel on Fox’s new multi-camera comedy I Hate My Teenage Daughter, about two high school nerd-girls who grew up to be the mothers of the kind of popular “mean girls” that they envied and hated in high school, the show’s executive producers, Sherry Bilsing-Graham and Ellen Kreamer, talked with me about how their multi-camera comedy might fit in at Fox, which has struggled to successfully launch a multi-camera sitcom. The show stars Katie Finneran and My Name Is Earl castmember Jaime Pressly as the moms and Australian Aisha Dee and Kristi Lauren as the snotty teenagers. “I think audiences really appreciate multi-camera comedy -- you watch the big success of Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory and you feel good when you watch it -- there’s something very comforting about it,...

The flurry of pickups and cancellations at Fox in the past 24 hours has one more addition to the pickup side: a comedy called "I Hate My Teenage Daughter."
It joins another comedy, the Zooey Deschanel-starring "The New Girl," and dramas "Alcatraz" and "The Finder" (along with the previously picked up "Terra Nova") on the network's list of new series for 2011-12.
Unlike the rest of the half-hour comedies Fox has tried in the past couple seasons, "I Hate My Teenage Daughter" is a multi-camera show. Its title is pretty much its premise: The show focuses on two moms (Jaime Pressly of "My Name Is Earl" and Katie Finneran of "Wonderfalls" and "The Inside") who fear their daughters are turning into the kinds of girls who tormented them in high school.
Ellen Kreamer and Sherry Bilsing-Graham ("The New Adventures of Old Christine") created the show, whose cast also includes Kevin Rahm...

After spending untold amounts of cash on hundreds of dramas and comedies — most of which will never make it to your living rooms — the five broadcast networks will begin announcing in New York next week which projects are good enough to earn a coveted fall pickup. (NBC and Fox will present their fall schedule to advertisers on Monday, followed by ABC on Tuesday, CBS on Wednesday and the CW on Thursday).
Buzz is already strong for several projects (for more on the hot ones, click here). But every year, we always wonder what diamond-in-the-rough was left on the cutting room...

And they’re off! Casting is all but completed and production has already begun on scores of pilots for the five broadcast networks. But not every comedy and drama will go the distance. Which project has the right stuff? What pilot already has you feeling like you popped a Lunesta? Check out the mammoth slate for fall consideration. (And remember, all projects are whittled down in late April/early May before the nets present their fall slates to advertisers in New York):

Exclusive: Former My Name Is Earl co-star Jaime Pressly has been tapped as the lead opposite Katie Finneran in Fox's multicamera comedy pilot I Hate My Teenage Daughter. The project, from Warner Bros. TV and writers/executive producers Sherry Bilsing-Graham and Ellen Kreamer, centers on two women, Annie (Pressly) and Nikki (Finneran), who now have daughters just like the girls who picked on them in high school. Pressly, repped by CAA and Luber/Roklin, won an Emmy for her role as the ditsy Joy Turner on NBC's Earl. Kirk Acevedo (Oz), Tim Griffin (Fair Game) and Joe Nieves are set to co-star opposite Maria Bello in NBC's drama pilot Prime Suspect. The remake of the iconic British series centers on Jane Timoney (Bello), an iconoclastic female detective who has to make her bones in a tough New York precinct that is dominated by men. Acevedo, repped by Fortitude and Abrams,...

Broadway actor Christian Borle has landed the male lead opposite Debra Messing in NBC's Broadway-themed pilot Smash, which is based on an idea by Steven Spielberg. The pilot, from DreamWorks TV and Ums, follows a cross section of characters who come together to put on a Marilyn Monroe musical on Broadway led by the musical's composer Tom (Borle) and lyricist Julia (Messing). Also previously cast in the pilot are Jack Devenport, Megan Hilty and Katharine McPhee. Borle was nominated for a Tony in 2007 for Legally Blonde. Katie Finneran has been cast as one of the two leads of Fox's multicamera comedy I Hate My Teenage Daughter. The project, from Warner Bros. TV and writers/executive producers Sherry Bilsing-Graham and Ellen Kreamer, centers on two women, Annie and Nikki (Finneran), who now have daughters just like the girls who picked on them in high school. Finneran is a familiar face at Fox.

Forget watching cops, doctors and lawyers working dreary modern-day jobs. Next fall, TV could be ruled by superheros, wizards and Playboy bunnies.
The broadcast networks’ pilot orders, which are nearly finished for the year, make this extreme primetime makeover actually possible. Not since a certain ABC show about a mysterious island became a massive hit have the Big Five developed so many serialized, sci fi and straight-up wild projects.
So far we’ve told you all about the best and brightest and craziest pilots in the works at ABC, CBS and NBC. But taking chances isn’t anything new to Fox,...

Fox has handed a pilot order to Little in Common, a single-camera comedy from Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas. The project, produced by Warner Bros. TV, is about 3 families united through their kids’ little league sports. This is Fox's second comedy pilot pickup this season. The network recently ordered a multicamera comedy, Sherry Bilsing-Graham and Ellen Kreamer's I Hate My Teenage Daughter, also from Wbtv. The pickup marks a return to broadcast TV for Thomas who most recently co-created and executive produced the Starz comedy Party Down. Little in Common is one of two comedy projects Thomas sold to the broadcast networks this development season. It is in second position to Temp, a comedy for NBC, which Thomas co-wrote with fellow Party Down co-creators John Enbom and Dan Etheridge. Both shows are produced by Wbtv. Thomas is executive producing Little In Common with frequent collaborators Danielle Stokdyk, Jennifer Gwartz...

Pilot season is starting to grind into gear at the networks. Some of the latest developments:
ABC has given the official go-ahead to a pilot for a remake of "Charlie's Angels." The new one will be set in Miami, and "Smallville" creators Al Gough and Miles Millar will write the pilot script. Drew Barrymore, who starred in and produced the two "Angels" movies in the early 2000s, and her partner Nancy Juvonen are among the exec producers. Additionally, one casting hurdle may already be cleared: Robert Wagner is reportedly supplying the voice of Charlie. [EW/Vulture]
NBC isn't going forward with its prospective "Rockford Files" remake -- at least not at the moment. The network shot a pilot with Dermot Mulroney as Jim Rockford last spring, didn't pick it up and gave it back to "House" creator David Shore to rework. His duties on "House" didn't leave him enough time this development season to revise the script.

At Fox's TCA session yesterday, entertainment president Kevin Reilly noted that the network is not giving up on multicamera comedy, and its first comedy pilot order this season will go to a traditional sitcom. That is now a reality - Fox has just closed a deal to greenlight I Hate My Teenage Daughter, from Warner Bros. TV and writers/executive producers Sherry Bilsing-Graham and Ellen Kreamer. It centers on two women who now have daughters just like the girls who picked on them in high school. Veteran sitcom helmer Andy Ackerman is attached to direct. On the drama side, Fox has already ordered two pilots, Locke & Key and Alcatraz.

Another day, another comedy sold to a broadcast network with a head-turning title.
Fox just ordered a half-hour pilot called I Hate My Teenager Daughter.
The story is about two women who were tormented by mean girls when they were younger, and are now appalled to realize their daughters are turning into the same type of girls they never liked. The multi-camera comedy is from Warner Bros., with Sherry Bilsing-Graham and Ellen Kreamer (New Adventures of Old Christine) producing/writing.

Three more multicamera comedy pilots took off Thursday night.
NBC ordered an untitled family comedy from writer Justin Adler, ABC gave the thumbs-up to an untitled couples comedy from Jeff Strauss, and CBS greenlighted the female buddy comedy "Good Girls."
NBC's untitled Justin Adler comedy, from Sony and Tantamount, is a family show with adult siblings.
Family shows are hot at NBC this season, with the network also doing an hourlong pilot based on the 1980s movie "Parethood."
This is NBC's second pilot pickup from Sony following the network's decision not to go with the Sony-produced pilot "Lost in the '80s," which, like the Adler comedy, hailed from the Tantamount team of Mitch Hurwitz, Eric Tannenbaum and Kim Tannenbaum.
The trio are exec producing the new pilot with the project's writer Adler.
The untitled Jeff Strauss comedy, from ABC Studios, examines marriage and parenthood seen through the eyes of three couples.
